So funny you openly admitted that you were fine with the game until it was your make believe that was being used.
Do you think you look cool or what
I'm considering deactivating this blog bc these grown ass people keep calling me names and sending disrespectful shit like this. For a complaint about a video game. A YEAR AGO.
Calling someone's religion "make believe" is crazy. Sending sarcastic anons to teenagers about their one video game opinion is crazy. Not this person, but calling people on the internet slurs on forums for COMPLAINING ABOUT A VIDEO GAME ONCE is CRAZY. You are all insane. I hope all of your jewelry catches on your hair dude
#AND i just meant i realised i didnt like the stuff they were doing when it happened to me#You know how babies learn not to slap things when they interact w other babies. Bc they dont like being slapped#I feel like a kindergarten teacher around here#Hyv

It's been months and I still get these comments 😀 I did, and it didn't stop being damn disrespectful. I know that post was very emotional but it's just not right. Since I wrote that I learned that most of you will not ever question the morality of something as long as it's good for you, even if it's just a fucking game.
Boycott hoyoverse, please.
I used to be a big genshin impact lore buff, i played, i read, i was on forums, i made fanart, and then i was deeply disrespected by the game itself (this post is about natlan)
I am brazilian and i follow a religion named candomblé. Long story short, its from yoruba people who were sent to brazil as slaves, then went through a big process of spreading out to not just black people, but light-skinned people of lower classes like my family. We believe in the creation by Olorum, the power of Axé, and the Orixás.
Natlan, as of now, has two characters named Iansan and Ororon. These names come from not just the yoruba predecessors of candomblé, but also the religion itself, the Orixá deities Iansã and Olorum.
My religion, my deities. My mother's deities. The statuettes in my house. Their names are recycled cheaply to be used trivially. Never have we of candomblé ever gotten mentioned by AAA games or films that give such attention to detail like Genshin does, and we are disrespected. Our Gods are used like rags for someone's profit to be thrown away, washed out. They do not convey our beauty, our grit, our wonder, they do not convey us but they profit from us.
People love to tell us that it is just a game, but think again: games are not entitled to disrespect us just because of their nature. We are entitled to complain, to scream, because this is cruelty. You brutalize our image, butcher our names, for what?
When I was younger, I used to look at games with religious imagery very curiously. It was always weird to see the faith of the people I know be used for aesthetic reasons or just because it looks cool. The same has now happened to me, but times worse. People will say anything to justify this mockery and throw excuses to keep playing the product of a corporation that won't ever understand what it means to be us.
Boycott, complain, scream, because I will do it too. I regret the time I invested in playing, in reading, in watching, in dedicating myself to something that would never do me justice. It is not expensive to change a character's name, not even talking about the model. I don't plan on re-entering the fandom while it still lies unaware of the gross source material's true colors. Candomblé is not mythology, it's faith. We are alive. We have existed for centuries and will continue to grow, despite the challenges we face.

Hi 👋, My name is Mohammad, and I’m reaching out in a moment of desperate need. I’m a father of three young children living in Gaza, and we are caught in the midst of a catastrophic war. Our home is no longer a safe haven, and the future here seems increasingly uncertain. 💔
I’ve launched a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $40,000 to relocate my family to a safer place where my children can grow up in peace and have a chance at a brighter future. 🕊️🇵🇸
Unfortunately, my previous fundraising efforts were abruptly halted when my account was terminated without explanation. However, I remain determined to keep fighting for my family’s safety and well-being. 🫶
If you could take a moment to read our story, consider donating, or simply share our campaign with others, it would make an incredible difference. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety and a new beginning. 🙏
Thank you for your time, compassion, and support. ❤

(In reference to this reblogger's tags)
It's been a minute I left this blog to dust, only logging in once in a while for the sheer amount of notes and hate anons I was getting, but seeing feedback like this makes me really happy.
Obviously boycott didn't work, but it's good to know that people are conscious of the whole thing. I feel like my original post was very emotional, but my point stands: desecration is very serious, and now it's proof that there are many, many people in this fanbase who will never question the morality of things as long as it provides them entertainment or profit (looking STRONGLY at streamers who make money off of hyv games).
I too regret the hours I've spent with it, and when sharing the feeling with a friend, they said it too: we were excited about it before, but it's too icky to even look now. Opening my old sketchbook with so many drawings of my past main feels weird.
Thank you so much for the reblog, wonderful day, and I hope you found something else to play!
Boycott hoyoverse, please.

its depressing but the game industry does not care about people outside their target demographic so protesting won't matter to them. we might have to just move on to games with a mainly american target demographic to get any respectful diversity and even then those are rare
I get you, but I cannot help but dislike this mentality. I would rather make a couple posts complaining than to just sit and try to find something else to see, even if it's not a lot, I can't.
I just think we should let go of the idea that companies hold all power in media. They need consumers. Not saying this is going to be some big revolution, just making some noise over here.
I'm not really one for those big hot takes, so I'll just leave it at saying that I don't think it's okay to take images and names from small faiths to directly profit over them. I was upset because it was my religion on the screen, used like a napkin, by a game I loved so much, and I think I've made my point.
This is already too long. Thanks for the ask!

The only time you've spoke of your religion is because of Genshin. The previous anon was right, go touch grass lmao. The game is fictional and only draws influence from the aesthetic, it doesn't aim to be accurate to South America. It aims to form its lore and world buiding because it is inspired by it which means you can take creative liberties.
You should put more energy into promoting your religion through your art and helping your community in real life instead of sperging out about a video game. I mean you're already being made fun of on the Genshin Kiwifarms thread so I suggest you stop your melodrama. If you have time to make a crybaby rant on Tumblr, you're privileged enough to not care about actual problems that affect your community.
I'm not preaching my religion on my (up until now) personal blog, if that's what you expected.
Personally, I don't think corporations are entitled to fuck up like this. They made a wonderful portrait of china, a cool region for japan, a passion filled portrayal of germany and france. They fucked up sumeru and natlan in a way that can't be said to be "creative choices" and I shouldn't need to explain that.
Also, I have time in my hands because I'm a teenager. I post about the game I used to like because I was a part of the playerbase. It took 15 minutes to write my post and I log in every now and then when I have time — being online doesn't mean I'm not a part of my community. Why are you so presumptuous of something that doesn't affect you at all? I'm not forcing you to quit hyv games, I can't do that and I don't want to do that.
I hope you have a good day, despite knowing you don't wish the same for me.

I should add; the offense is not as great as what it tells of the corporation that comitted it. Hope this helps!
Literally shut up
No one cares. No one cares when its done to european cultures, no one cares when its done to asian ones or anywhere else
I mean look at the hades game. There was a whole thing about hestia in that game and hestia from an anime in japan. Neither look like the real goddess. And yet people still love both. No one was "boycotting" either just because it wasnt accurate.
No one actually cares how accurate it is.
You are just being mad because you want to be mad about something. If you have the time or energy to care about a fucking video game of all things then you are privileged as fuck and have way too much time on your hands.
Just because you personally are offended does not make this an actual issue. You can feel free to stop playing for whatever reason but you being upset does not mean you are in the right about it.
The game isnt hurting you, its not encouraging people to hurt you or destroy your culture and homes and livelyhood. Its a damn game. If you were out of the loop on whats in this game you wouldnt even see a difference in your day to day life. 10 years could pass and youd never know a thing.
You are literally making yourself feel threatened for no actual reason. It's just performative outrage and really fucking annoying for people who just wanna play a game and see fanart/fics of fictional characters
Go find something better to do with your time while you stop playing genshin. Soon enough you'll see just how useless it was for you to care about something like this. Move on ffs
Wow lol someone call this guy's mother I think they're crying!
I won't give you too much time of my life. I don't play games or consume content exploring religious imagery, because to me, it's wrong. I brushed it off for a long time but now i realise how it hurts people. It hurts to look at the screen and see your faith slapped and stepped on for something to "look cool".
It's not by far the biggest threat candomblé ever faced, it's not even a threat, I never said it was, but it's my duty AS A FOLLOWER to speak up on injustice. That's why I wrote that post, not because I love arguing, because I'm affected. I'm sorry that you cannot empathize with other people on something that only hurts them emotionally.
Do I need to get my temples burnt and my family killed to speak out? I loved a piece of media, then it showed disregard to my prople, and I wanted other people to know in case they didn't want to go on knowing that. You can play it though, see if I care.
I think this closes in my point. While the issue affects me, since you clearly don't care, it shouldn't affect you so that you send me this kind of aggressive message. Respectfully, get out of the way.
Consider not consuming religious imagery in the future. xoxo

do you think that sumeru is just as bad as natlan? i was so upset when people stopped talking about it
Sumeru is bad. It's pretty, I'll give it that, it was my favourite nation when I used to play the game (I mained Faruzan), but it has its sum of terrible things
I don't know much about the source material, aka the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. My post was about Natlan because if there's something I know about is my homeland.
I regret overlooking the signs hyv gave us of its racism early on, in 3.0. Seeing the Natlan trailers and leaks really opened my eyes on how I was being the kind of person that doesn't speak up on bad things when they happened to others. I don't wish that upon anyone. I hope we can have our eyes open for other games showing these signs in the future.
I won't "rank" that kind of thing because 1. I know next to nothing about Sumeru's source material (except for my share of self study in it's pattern art history) and 2. Natlan is not out as of now. I think it's bad, but I don't actually know much beyond the whitewashing.
I hope Hoyoverse didn't use their Gods' names similarly with how they dis to us, yoruba and candomblé. I can't remember. All my love to my brothers and sisters around the world, in those places!
Thank you for the ask!
