Okay, I want a superhero story in which the superhero is one of those ‘normal kid gets superpowers through freak accident’ and goes out and fights crime, and of course runs into the supervillain at some point and tries to take them down. And the villain, a couple minutes into the fight, realizes they’re fighting a literal child and just has an internal freak-out about this new development. Because, fine, I’ve got plans to steal all of the world’s largest gems and I’m generally not a nice person, but holy fuck there’s a kid coming at me. This is a kid. I can’t with this.
So the supervillain instead of trying to kill/hurt their nemesis goes through all these complicated plans to trap them or put them to sleep or stick them in a large tank or something so they can go ahead with it. Sometimes it works and the supervillain spends a harried half hour lecturing the superhero about maybe going to school and being safe instead of doing this, that would be nice.
The supervillain staying up at night occasionally wondering if the tiny superhero is out there trying to get themselves killed right this moment. The supervillain sending supervillain henchmen ninjas out to tail the superhero and help out if it ever looks like the superhero is going to get killed. The supervillain takes to pacing around and muttering to themselves occasionally about PARENTING and RESPONSIBILITY and how they never signed up for this shit. Actually petitioning their version of the Justice League to have someone step in and do something about this, that kid has to be like twelve and what is everyone thinking???? Bonus points if the kid has no parents and the villain finds this out and spends a night internally screaming about it.
Basically I want a supervillain unwittingly becomes the super worried parent of the kid who is actively trying to foil their every plan and topple their evil regime.

Sorry
GOT 6x4 will be late, as will my Ace Attorney reviews. If AA is delayed any longer, I will just post a single review, reviewing the whole series. Bluh :/ Having laptop issues currently, acting like the CTRL key was permanently pressed.

Okay so I haven’t posted for a while, here’s an update
Ace Attorney Episodes 3+
The Ace Attorney reviews for the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth episodes will all come out around the same time. I’m dealing with a crap-ton of stuff in my personal life at the moment and simply cannot devote a lot of time to extracurricular activities for a while. I move out on the fourth, just after all my finals, so hopefully I’ll get the third through fifth episode reviews written in time to see the sixth episode.
Game of Thrones Season 6
I’ll try my best to my audio logs for Game of Thrones as it comes out, recording and posting immediately after I watch each episode. However, I might be getting sick right now, so the first episode audio log does have a possibility of being delayed. Hang tight for that.
Et Cetera
I won’t be able to do much at all over the summer, since I’ll be going to three summer classes. Won’t have a lot of free time during that time. So until July ends, GOT and AA will be my only two series on this blog.

Holy shit.
How Lord English’s Defeat Was Achieved
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whilst talking to a friend I was suddenly struck by a realization that I think explains the precise nature of how Lord English was defeated. I’ve already spoken a little about how the destruction of the Green Sun should not have depleted his Clockwork Majyyks, and therefore shouldn’t have made him any more invulnerable. Here is my take on what I think happened, and how it explains not only the ending, but the entire plot of Homestuck (seriously).
I’ve already spoken a fair bit in the past about Homestuck’s underlying themes in relation to the comic’s name. At first, when taken literally, “Homestuck” appears to be named for only a very small portion of Act 1, when John is literally “stuck in his home”. He is able to leave later on, so he’s no longer home-stuck, right? Now, my take has always been that this depends on your definition of “home”. Homestuck is a story about people leaving behind “homes” of various scope. John leaves his house, yes, but then he leaves his universe, his session, and ultimately his fundamental reality behind. He becomes unstuck from canon itself. From what more is there left to become “unstuck”?
Let’s remind ourselves what the “treasure” juju does. I mean, obviously we know that Caliborn initially used it to seal the souls of the beta kids, and then later Vriska deployed it against Lord English. But what else does it do? John put his hand through it and it became distributed throughout the canon of Homestuck. This is an ability with a very specific scope; he is distributed not throughout reality, but throughout Homestuck itself. There’s a reason why it is shaped like the Homestuck logo; the ultimate weapon is a gateway to Homestuck.
Lord English cannot be destroyed by conventional means, he can only be defeated by the exploitation of glitches in Paradox Space. So far, the glitches in Paradox Space we have seen have taken a very specific form also; metacanonical altering. Caliborn jams sparkle dust in the game cartridge, and .jpeg artifacts appear across the comic. John sticks his hand in the the juju, he gains the ability to use a retcon glitch. This is how one “glitches” Paradox Space, they interact with the narrative itself; with Homestuck itself. The juju allows one to do this, and this is why its so powerful.
Here’s my hypothesis. The weapon/treasure juju does not have three different abilities, it has one. We’ve been seeing it as 1. being able to trap four souls, 2. being able to impart retcon abilities, and 3. having an offensive ability to be used against Lord English. In reality, these are all one ability! The ability to act as a gateway to the Homestuck canon!
Caliborn did not seal the four kids within the juju! He sealed them within Homestuck. This is why the comic is called “Homestuck”! The kids are literally trapped within the narrative by the power of the juju. But, this power is also how Lord English is eventually defeated! Here is what happens in the [S] Act 7 flash.
Vriska activates the juju, it grows big and the kid’s symbols flash on its surface.
The symbol on the victory platform flips around, and turns white, the same colour and size as the juju. A door appears on its surface.
A door also appears on the side of the juju facing Lord English! This is not a coincidence. There are two doors here, one leading one way, and one leading the other way.
Homestuck is ending. By that expanding convention of the Kids, John in particular, escaping their bonds, then there is one more bond for them to break, one more door for them to pass. They need to leave the comic itself.
This is what the white juju with the door represents! The door on the Kid’s side leads out of Homestuck, whereas the door on English’s side leads in.
The kids will get to live on in a happy life beyond the narrative, possibly in the extracanon epilogue, the Paradox Space comic, not to mention fanworks. English will not. Caliborn gaining his power is shown at the moment of his defeat because his timeline is cyclical, marked by two circumstancially simultaneous events; his birth and his defeat. Similarly, the kids leaving Homestuck and Lord English “entering” it are two circumstantially simultaneous events orchestrated by the juju. Lord English has become trapped within Homestuck. While the comic may end for the kids, and they can move on, English is forever trapped within a loop of destruction, held by the bounds of canon.
The reason the juju flashes with the kids colours is because it is preparing to release them, but not to fight English, it is preparing to release them from Homestuck itself, by the comic’s ending.
This is why the comic had to end right after this moment, because otherwise the kids would not have escaped and English would have more canon scope throughout which to dominate.
This is why the juju is white, this is why the Act 7 curtains are white. White is the colour of Homestuck itself, as shown in the text for the logo displayed in the flash in act 1. The white curtains close on the comic, the white juju acts as the gateway into canon.
Perhaps the Green Sun had influence that reached beyond the canon (Paradox Space comic)? If this was the case, the English can no longer use it to access anything outside the canon, because Calliope destroyed it.
This is what Homestuck means. The clue was hidden in the name all along. This was a story about four kids who had literally been trapped inside their own story, and escaped it, trapping their unkillable villain inside it as it ended, meaning that he could spread his destruction no further. Of course Lord English can no longer cause harm within Homestuck, if Homestuck itself has ended! What an appropriate way to defeat an undefeatable villain in a comic where fourth wall breaking and metacanonical interactions with the main narrative are such an integral plot device.
Tumblr media
Here is Hussie, deciding to kill off Lord English the only way he can; by ending his own comic. If the ending seemed abrupt to you, this is why.
That magnificent bastard.

An update concerning Spice and Wolf, Game of Thrones, and the future
I saw the second episode, and have concluded that I simply cannot bring much to the table with this anime. It just doesn't feel like a "reaction" kind of show. So I'll be dropping Spice and Wolf (sorry, voters), and will be watching the series on my own, without live blogging. Don't worry though! Ace Attorney 3 is this weekend, and Game of Thrones 6.1 is out a week after that, the latter of which I'll be experimenting with post-viewing audio-based reviews (possibly in podcast/discussion form if I can get someone else on board). If possible, I do want to find an anime that IS reaction-worthy that I haven't seen, and liveblog that, but for now it's Ace Attorney reviews and Game of Thrones audio blogs (starting in a weekish when ep1 comes out). Alternatively, if my BF hasn't seen Thrones yet, I wanna sit him down and make him watch GOT, and do post-viewing vlogs with him as the guy who knows stuff / has already seen stuff. At that rate, assuming 5 episodes a week, we'd catch up to season 6 in 10 weeks (at which point it'd be over, totaling 12 weeks before we're caught up). I might also do that with other shows, like Adventure Time (which I KNOW he hasn't seen). But this is all hypothetical, and I'm not sure what I wanna do just yet.

Reblogging here because it's relevant.
To those confused about the Homestuck ending
The destruction of the Black King’s ring Bec Noir was wearing all this time met the last requirement for a successful game session (the death of the Black King), sparking Echidna to release the Genesis Frog, which was released into the original battlefield of the Beta kid’s session (The Alpha Kids session was Void, and thus did not have a battlefield to incubate a Genesis Frog), the Frog came to fruition.
Meanwhile, God-Tier Calliope used her powers to collapse the Green Sun, thus bringing an end to the old universe and Paradox Space.
At the same time, Vriska, with Caliborn’s Juju, faces Lord English and uses the juju to defeat him, but since Lord English is in fact unkillable, he is defeated by the Juju creating a time loop within the dead nothingness of the now collapsed old universe. It is more than likely, but not set in stone, that this method of trapping Lord English in a collapsed void within a dead universe also meant the death of Vriska and the Ghost Army.
Lord English’s defeat is also told in tandem with his Birth, with Caliborn seizing his session’s ultimate prize and destroying the clock, with the clock being his ties to mortality as shown for every God Tier player in the sessions.
The time loop and the destruction of the Old Universe then triggers the official birth of the new universe, where the red door the Kids are standing in front of turns white and opens.
Jade, keeping the Alpha Kids earth in her hands, places it in the new universe where it is given new life within a new universe, becoming habitable and full of new life, where we see the kids and the surviving trolls exploring the new world (Gamzee’s fate is not explained, that much is left open)
Then it cuts back to Caliborn claiming his prize just as John and the kids claim their prize.

So basically, here’s what all goes down:
1. PM and WV destroy the rings
2. The Genesis Frog is released, and becomes the new Universe
3. The kids and trolls and everyone goes to live in the new Universe on a revamped Earth.
4. In the Furthest Ring, Calliope destroys the Green Sun with a black hole.
5. This de-powers Lord English, leaving him a bit more vulnerable. However, he’s immortal because he destroyed his God Tier clock ages ago when he beat Yaldabaoth.
7. Vriska releases the House Juju.
8. ??? (I’m genuinely unsure of what the Juju does...)
9. The Green Sun’s Black Hole apparently (???) sucks everything up, at least within the circle made by LE.
Honestly I loved it, but I would like an explanation for exactly what the hell happened with the Juju, and also an explanation for when exactly the whole “seal away Caliborn” thing went down. Those are my only major gripes with this ending, but Hussie said he’d make an Epilogue at some point to further wrap stuff up, so hopefully that works out.
It’s been a great ride, everyone.
See you in the Epilogue.

I  just hit double-digit followers! :D
In other news, my reaction to Act 7 will come out later today. Really I’m just waiting for it to finish rendering and shit so I can upload it to Youtube. I’ll also post a brief text post under the link, and will make a final post whenever the Epilogue comes out (which yes, there will be an epilogue).

Ace Attorney Anime - Episode Two Review
Woo! Sorry this review took so long, I wasn’t able to watch the episode over the weekend due to college work and scheduling issues that broke down. But here we are!
More after the break.
Voice Acting (A, 9/10)
This episode we meet Edgeworth, Gumshoe, and Maya. I love their voices, and it seems like the voice of Wright got an upgrade somehow? Or maybe he just had more to work with in this episode than last episode.
Music (B, 8/10)
Same as last episode pretty much.
Animation (B, 8/10)
The animation for this episode had WAY more smooth and “animated” parts than the previous episode. This was a nice change, since the first episode had heavy usage of “still image with a mouthflap.” Good job stepping it up, A1.
OP/ED (C, 7/10)
The OP and ED grew on me a bit, but still not great. I’ll bump up its score slightly, but the OP/ED themselves aren’t really anything special in terms of symbolism or structure, so this will be the highest it’ll go (and I’ll no longer be grading this section unless they change the OP/ED).
Differences? (No score)
A few scenes have been added into the anime. For example, a scene with a young Phoenix being offered an umbrella by a small girl was never a part of the games. The bad guy is made VERY clear to be Redd White in the episode, despite the fact that we haven’t met him yet, which is not the case in the games. Also, there’s a moment where both Maya and Phoenix bow at the same time and hit their heads on the glass, which was a very nice addition. A few other minor details have been changed, but otherwise not much.
FINAL VERDICT (B, 8/10)
I genuinely enjoyed this episode. The first episode had me worried, but this episode made up for it in spades. While so far I’d grade the whole anime as a 7/10, I’m sure that future episodes will continue this one’s trend and I’ll end up grading the whole series as an 8/10.

Homestuck Finale Liveblog - Part Eight (4/11 and 4/12)
Tumblr media
This has gotta be a pretty big thing for John. He literally saw his dad’s dead body in front of him only three years ago. By this point he’s already coped, probably, but now after accepting it he’s suddenly confronted with an alternate version of his father that knows John as his father rather than his son.
Tumblr media
Yeah, he’s thinking of Poppop Crocker. Hard to gague his reaction though, since he has no mouth or eyes.
Tumblr media
YES.
“The fact that you still call him that means you aren’t ready,” Jane’s father told her. But what if he was truly the one who wasn’t ready? What if dad never got over the grief of losing his father, John? I think this right here adds SO MUCH to the character of Alpha Dad. This is beautiful.
Tumblr media
MY HEART JUST MELTED.
Tumblr media
Heh, even Terezi is smiling now. But I think she’s worried about Vriska. Looking back, Vriska said she’d use time travel or something to meet up with everyone, but... she isn’t here. Which worries Terezi. What if Vriska’s dead? Poor Terezi... I’m glad that this lifted her spirits a bit, though.
Tumblr media
Here they go. It’s time to throw the rings into the fire. To end this endless war, once and for all.
Tumblr media
No more kings and queens, no more powerful rings.
Tumblr media
An everlasting peace, a pact forged by the friendship of a young parcel mistress and a warweary villein.
Tumblr media
And it all begins with this single act. Destroying the rings.
Oh boy, something tells me that Act 7 is gonna be a doozy. See you all tomorrow for Act 7, assuming I don’t have a shit schedule that prevents me from liveblogging.
