Over 45 years of gaming history right here.

After 20+ years of my life playing and collecting videogames, I've reached another milestone with 700 physical games!!!!

Some of them aren't in my hands quite yet, but preorders count in my eyes.

Oh, wow, you decided to keep reading? Well, I figure I can use this opportunity to ramble about some neat oddities within my collection because I'm very annoying proud with my hyperfixations.

*ahem*

I have two Google Spreadsheets that have these games neatly averaged about by their Average Critic Scores based on their release year and console they belong to. Statistically speaking, 2018 is the best year in gaming (86.666 avg), while 2007 is considered the worst year (68.833 avg).

The best console is the SNES (84.481 avg), with the Game Gear in last (73.300 avg).

158 of my games came out before I was born. Castlevania 64 is game closest to my birthday. Personally, I think Castlevania 64 is a really good game and the hate it gets on the Internet is undeserved. You should play it sometime!

You may notice a few games that look to be repeats. I assure you, they're not. These would be different console versions of these games. Yes, I do have all eight version of Chamber of Secrets, including the macOS version. I hate Joanne (and she hates me), but these are decent Zelda clones.

I only have one game in this collection that's an import, and that is Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Master System. Being the last Master System game in the US, SEGA just decided to use their European stock of the game for the US release and slapped an American UPC sticker over top the European one. Literally nothing else is different, except an authentic US box goes for nearly $1,000. I'll make an exception here.

Over half of my collection has been procured in less than two years! I started tracking my collection in August 2022, when my total was 332 games. A lot of time and money has passed, but here we are!

If you managed to read all this self-gratuitous wall of text, you have my thanks for giving my niche the time you spent on it.
