fun fact : due to a translation's mistake, in the french version of the dream thieves, ronan has a (not subtext) crush on gansey
because instead of kavinsky being "oh yeah don't tell me you don't swing that way" kinda stuff, he says "oh yeah, you didn't say you're not attracted to him"
and ronan confirms
so yeah ronsey nation, it's a canon unrequited love in the french version
(they also changed some of adam and gansey conflict, instead of having adam kinda wanting to BE gansey, he wants to be WITH gansey like his friend and generally just around him)

btw, it speaks volumes about how fucked up everyone's mental health is if the moment one of the boys doesn't pick up his phone or is late to hang out, the others think he ended his life.

When I read the raven cycle for the first time the only thing I knew was that two of the boys end up dating each other and I thought it would be obvious immediately but boy was it not

just Thinking about Ronan and Ganseys relationship. It’s so fascinating and I love it so much I want to put it under a microscope and just stare.
From the very beginning Gansey can only see the good in Ronan, he wants what he perceives is best for him, even when nobody else does (Ronan included.) It makes me think of that one part of the books where Gansey is reflecting on how he can come to terms with the fact that Ronan is a magical creature better than he can comprehend that Ronan actually wanted to kill himself.
He just cares so deeply about Ronan and puts his own quest, life, and reputation on the line for him KNOWING that Ronan is not guaranteed to follow what Gansey says in return.
Even though Ronan might not always follow Gansey’s lead, he still has his undying loyalty to Gansey though. Which brings me to my main point, the My Dog™️ dynamic. I love talking about this.
Declan metaphorically handed off the leash to Gansey before the start of the series, and decided that Ronan was bound to come with consequences that Declan wasn’t equipped to handle. Gansey knew that and took the leash anyways. He decided that yeah, Ronans a little bit feral, and he’ll bite and run away and tug at the leash but he’s worth it.
Then when Kavinsky brings it up during the Gansey-On-Fire scene in TDT. That’s one of my favorite book moments ever. “And what is it my dog needs?” Gansey is fully aware of the responsibility he’s claiming over Ronan, even though he knows Ronan isn’t going to just obey him like 90% of the things in his life do.
But he trusts Ronan to come home at the end of the day, and Ronan trusts Gansey enough to not metaphorically run away again. Ronan is fine with Gansey holding the leash because he knows Gansey will only tug when necessary, and never tug too hard. (On purpose, Gansey does have his moments sometimes- “My words are unerring tools of destruction and I’ve come unequipped with the ability to disarm them”)
Gansey just sees the world with so much beauty and wonder and curiosity and Ronan is a part of the world he is creating and discovering in the series and so he sees Ronan the same way.
“You incredible creature” - Gansey to Ronan
Ok i’m done now :)

even after all these years the gang learning about noahs ghostliness is so funny to me. like obviously they are freaked out that their friend is dead and was murdered. but no one is having a revelation about ghosts being real its not even mentioned. its like yea yea we all accept the existence of ghosts. back to the one living in our apartment.

The thing about the raven cycle that I forget every time I go for a reread is how much I root for blue and Adam at first - you want these kids to be in love and escape Henrietta and you know that isn’t the story you’re reading but you want it for them so much, it’s so exactly what they want and know they can’t have

how many public places do we think the lynches got banned from for fighting. like i bet they have to do all their grocery shopping online and aren't allowed near any restaurants. ten bucks says they always meet at the church on sunday not simply because they're religious but because that's the only place in town they don't get kicked out of the minute they set foot inside

there's a lockwood & co discord server?? how big/busy is it?
Hello anon! Yes there is - it’s a fantastic place full of chaos, shenanigans, and honestly some of the most friendly and creative people I’ve ever met!
Currently I believe there are around 500 people in the server, but only a fraction of those are active. But there are people from around the world (and people with fucked up sleep schedules), so someone is always online 💕

was thinking about the dreaming tree in trb that shows you your worst nightmares and. ronan doesn’t go in—later revealed that this is because he not only knows what it does but also what he’ll see—but his worst nightmare is bringing back wasps. killing gansey. blue sees herself dangerously close to kissing gansey, fulfilling her curse, also killing gansey. richard “he imagined [finding glendower] might feel a lot like dying” gansey sees himself finding glendower. but adam. we’re never expressly told what he sees, only that gansey’s dead and it’s his fault and ronan hates him for it and he hates himself for it too. the difference is subtle but important. the others see the action. adam sees the end result. the others are afraid of killing gansey. adam is too, but that’s not his worst fear. adam’s worst fear is becoming like his father

Greywaren Spoilers!!
It’s actually so funny that the book fully convinces you Matthew’s dead in this slow dreadful way and makes you mourn for him and has Declan break to the point where he’s made decisions he cannot possibly come back from only to reveal a few chapters later that he’s just been chilling with Bryde under a table for a few days and they have developed a dynamic I can only describe as a comedic duo. Wild.

The more I learn about the setup of Monmouth the less I judge Adam for his absolute refusal to live there. He goes to get something from the fridge? Someone’s pissing right next to it. Has to go somewhere at night? He has walk past Gansey sleeping bc his mattress is in the middle of the fucking main room. Bedroom? Literally haunted. I too would have snapped after about a week of that.
