Last October, some of the Rick & Ray squad met up with TEAM MANILA/DAILY GRIND CLOTHING for a LA photoshoot. Here are some of the images they sent us (featuring Glen Exaktoh, KreativeThought, Martin Fabros, Shelly Samia, Wella Angeles, and Tricia Jamanila).

RICK & RAY x SESSIONS LA

Last night, we met up with DJ Phatrick and Ali of SESSIONS LA for a meet and eat at Los Molcajetes. Rick & Ray and SESSIONS are teaming up on a fundraiser in December to help keep SESSIONS alive.

Let me bring you up to speed: SESSIONS is a program in Los Angeles that teaches youth and young adults music writing, production, recording, and DJing. Their mission is to promote development, nurture critical thinking, and foster community building through the process of creating music. SESSIONS currently needs financial help in order to continue into 2013. Before we get into the collaborative event that we are detailing, we need to say that we are 100% in support of SESSIONS and hope you are, too. For many reasons, those kids may not have outlets to chase a dream but SESSIONS is there to help. And even if they haven’t quite figured out what they’d like to do with music, there are genuinely good people involved in the program to help them think it through. We want to see them continue for many more years.

So we have come together to throw a fundraiser. We are developing an event that will involve a beat contest and performances. You’ll know full details by the first of next month. In the meantime, please mark Thursday, December 27 on your calendar.

Now onto the food at Los Molcajetes. Check out the size of those pupusas, tho!

As promised, we have a leak off Kixxie Siete and Bambeeno‘s mixtape, 7AM. It’s called “Love Letter”.

Just to bring you up to speed: Bambeeno (who has worked with artists like Hodgy Beats, Cam Meekins, and Dumbfoundead) is a producer in the Rick & Ray collective and 7AM will be his first entire project. Kixxie Siete is a rapper outta the South Bay who has been killing the social media game, and who is currently on the Rent Money Tour with Bambu. We brought the two together earlier this year, and the result is soon to come. But first, we’re giving you a taste of what to expect. If you’ve seen any of the Rent Money shows, Kix has performed this, and now you can have it. “Love Letter” is about the hustle, the sacrifice, and the passion that comes with chasing your dreams. There’s a lot going on in the camp right now…and as always, music is helping us get through it.

Here’s what’s rotating as we: 1) prep a leak off Bambeeno and Kixxie Siete’s 7AM mixtape for tomorrow, 2) prep Shelly‘s updated website launch for tomorrow, 3) detail Garfield Adams’ music video shoot for the weekend, 4) get KreativeThought‘s timeline together for his solo EP, and 5) work with Sessions LA for a collaborative fundraising event. There’s more to that list, but we don’t want to bore you with research and development terms.

Peace to everyone that came through to the premiere of AHMAD's Good Meat Makes Gravy film! The night opened up with our artist, Garfield Adams, playing beats from his catalog. Then on to the screening. Ahmad performed the two original songs from the film, and also did his hit, "Back in the Day". The Algorhythms came on after, and then DJ Destroyer closed out the night. Great event; stay tuned for what Rick & Ray has next.

In the City of Angels, a struggling musician discovers that his wealthy girlfriend has been unfaithful. With hope in his heart and nothing in his pockets, he decides to move out, chase his dreams and possbily change his life forever. Featuring 2 original songs by AHMAD: “The Day” produced by GoonRock (producer of LMFAO’s global smash hits “Sexy & I Know It” and “Party Rock Anthem”) and “Thankful” produced by LA powerhouse, Shane Eli.
