erwin smith is one of the funniest characters of all time because everything about his visual character design screams Jock Guy and like yeah, he's strong and can fight, but like. his main thing is playing 4D chess, manipulation, gambling addiction (with people's lives), conspiracy theories, hate the government, intimidate everybody, eat hot chip and lie

like oh yeah the 6'3" 200lb blonde bombshell who looks like a male supermodel or perhaps a football player? yeah he's the resident 200 IQ plotter and schemer. he's the dude who ominously says shit like "all according to plan." he could beat you up but he doesn't even need to, he'd rather deduce all your deepest insecurities from like 2 conversations and gaslight you about them. RIP erwin smith you would have loved doxxing politicians on social media

I always wonder whose idea it was for Hange to have an assistant. I have three theories:

Moblit volunteered himself because he loves Hange is genuinely interested in Titan research.

Levi insisted because he loves Hange got tired of having to clean up after failed experiments.

Hange asked Erwin for an assistant and he caved because he loves Hange thought it would be good for Humanity.

writing badly and cringily is actually an essential part of the writing process, both in terms of individual projects and in gaining voice and confidence as a writer in the long term. there is no way around the cringe. there's no way around the work.
