Day 6 - Worldbuilding

So… I saw the word “worldbuilding” in the prompt and kinda went off the deep end… Sorry not sorry!

[Context for non-Silm fans: Doriath was a kingdom in Beleriand (which is the continent that sank and the one Arondir said he was from) that was attacked first by dwarves and then by elven kinslayers. Elwing is Elrond’s mom and Eluréd and Elurín are his uncles that died when they were six. Let me know if I missed something!]

The glade was carpeted in delicate looking crystalline flowers. They caught the light of the late morning sun and amplified it, making it seem as if they were perched upon an island in a sea of shifting sunlight.

Elwing stopped eating when the bottle was still nearly half full and, while she had quieted, she was not yet asleep. Instead, she stared around the glade in wonder.

Arondir knew she probably couldn’t yet understand him, but he spoke anyway. “These are ninniachloth flowers, Princess. See how they catch the light? In the past, on the last and first night of each year, your grandmother and great-grandmother would go to the highest peak in all of Doriath to strengthen the magical barrier that used to keep these lands safe from the outside. The night sky would light up in a thousand different hues and the ninniachloth would catch each and every one of them.”

Arondir gazed around the glade. “I would come here on those nights. It felt as though I were walking through a stream of rainbows.”

The song quote choice is a bit cheesy maybe but it's what I first thought of when I saw that scene of Valandil alone on the ship. WE know Isildur is alive, HE DOESN'T!!!! 😥😥

(Special thanks to @the-commonplace-book & @ellrond for helping me keep this balanced rather than just going overboard on it lmao, as I usually like to do with composite artwork/collages)

Going into this show, I was most nervous about Elrond. I knew that Elrond was going to be make or break for me. I can put up with a lot. But if they got Elrond wrong the show was going to be utterly unwatchable for me.

And holy god, did they get him right. Literally from the first few seconds onscreen straight through for the rest of the season. If they had messed up everything else in the show (and don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the show. It has its ups and downs. Not perfect but incredibly enjoyable nonetheless), I still would happily watch and rewatch with gusto just for Elrond (and especially Elrond with Durin and Disa!). He is that perfect.

I mean, it helps that Robert Aramayo is an Elrond nerd and has loved him since he was a little kid and that this is literally his dream role, but man does he embody him: the warmth, the kindness, how affectionate and caring he is to his friends...he is just Best Boy and I love him so much I am holding onto Robrond in clenched fists. They really read "Kind as Summer" and said dude he sure is.

It was the day of Mystery’s hundred’s trip - a cause for celebration and an opportunity to bring attention to yet another successful venture. Halbrand had already put on his Halbrand-the-Greatest act and was positively ready to perform, arranging for champagne to be brought to all the ship’s patrons and making his way aboard after chatting with Isildur before lift-off when he saw her - Galadriel - standing alone by the far window, peering outside in concentration and clutching at the rail as if she was in the middle of a bumpy ride already. He didn’t need to see the face to know that it was his much-abhorred scientist, never failing to stand out from the crowd even when she stubbornly looked like she wanted to be left in peace.

Rings of Power Valentines Week Day 2 & 4: Family, Friendship, Gray Spaces

Elrond + the Durin Clan

(i just feel very victimized that we didn't get Elrond interacting with the tiny children. But in any case I have a lot of Feelings about Elrond, who grew up orphaned and estranged, batted around from caregiver to caregiver, coming to port with them. He may not be able to stay there permanently, but he's welcome to visit any time he likes, and he's absolutely family. I'm obsessed with their entire dynamic and tbh I do love me a good OT3 as well, so I enjoy putting them in that little gray area box as long as Disa is involved ;) )

Day 4 of RoP Valentines Week is just me telling you, that I planned to make more, but some stuff turned out really terrible and I just didn't have that much time... Maybe I'll work some of these out later...

Also: I was in a writing slump most of January and still am honestly... Writing is hard. That's why I didn't do any drabbles for Valentines Week either... I have ideas, it's just not gonna work out atm...

You were putting jewels beside your bedside table when you hear your door open turning to see Theo and Bronwyn with Arondir walk in as you smile at the man you fell in love with and your friends.The two left leaving you and a curious arondir hearing a little bit of the conversation "What did you guys talk about?" he looks at you with his cheeks tinted a rosy pink "They were talking about valentine's day I think it's called?" your eyebrows raise and giggle "It's a holiday where no matter who,you show the person you love them,it's not just for people in a romantic way" you explain everything you were taught about valentine's day to him over tea and lunch.You were just fixing to sleep for awhile when you look out you window to see arondir walking up to your home with flowers in his hands and a pouch in the other with theo and bronwyn smiling at him while he was a bright red making you giggle going to your door opening it and standing in the door way as he walks up slowly smiling when he sees you standing on your step.You put the flowers in a pot in your kitchen and you open the pouch seeing elvish jewels and putting them on a small chain to hang on your light on the bedside stand near your bed loving how they lightly shine under the light smiling you hand him an elvish charm you carved for him so he could carry it on his neck or a pocket on his shirt.You smile as he puts it on his neck after looking at it stopping in your tracks when he put his hand on your face as you turned to move away your heart beating faster and feeling hot all over.He leans in allowing you to move away but when you don't he leans in until your lips are connected and the two of you are holding each other slowly moving until the back of your legs hit your bed but before you can move away to lay back on the bed he picks you up putting you down on the bed leading to kissing each other's bodies and showing how much you loved each other until you both fell asleep.
