hi ok KPDH fandom. You wanted complex women? okay. let's talk about Celine.

Are Celine's moral teachings ("all demons are bad, your faults and fears should not be seen, Rumi is not a demon; she's a hunter with a 'defect'" out of the confirmed ones) bad or wrong?

Yes. Yeah, they are. They suck. They fail to encompass the fact that demons — according to Jinu, but also what we see when we learn how Gwi-ma controls demons — feel so much grief and are really just grieving something and made horrible decisions because of it. They fail to consider that the Honmoon doesn't need to be protected from negative feelings, but from the weak links that Gwi-ma can exploit, and that "your faults and fears should never be seen" only creates more openings. They fail to allow Rumi to accept herself, love herself, and step out of the shadow of her father's sins.

Is it Celine's fault that these "morals" exist, and got passed down to the 2010s trio, and coincidentally lead to the destruction of the original Honmoon?

No, absolutely the fuck not.???

Celine is just parroting what she heard from the trio that taught the Sunlight Sisters. Celine is just passing down what they thought was working to power the Golden Honmoon. Celine is teaching Huntr/x what she knows, what the Sunlight Sisters knew, what every trio of Hunters learned and passed down.

Is it Celine's fault that she never thought to explore the Honmoon beyond that, that she apparently never thought to truly connect with her fellow Sunlight Sisters in the name of a mantra — your faults and fears must never be seen — that has been warped by years and years of interpretations, and possibly, misinterpretations?

Yes.

But she was scared, as was every trio before her. They couldn't risk learning more about demons – that meant giving them access to the living world for longer. They couldn't risk humanizing demons either, because what if it led to trying to fix them, save them, once again giving them access to more souls for Gwi-ma?

Fucked up, right?

And yet, Celine watched a best friend of hers, a bandmate, a sister, a half of her heart, fall for a demon. And have a child. And die.

She couldn't risk that again. For Celine, that was more than enough proof that the teachings were right, even if they are way more complex than she ever dares pondering. For Celine, she lost everything when demons, because demons got involved on a personal scale.

She's scared for Rumi and Zoey and Mira, but more importantly, she's scared for the Honmoon — a weight she has held on her shoulders for her entire life, a weight every generation has held until they were spared by death. Assuming the other Sunlight Sister also died, but even if she didn't, a sacrifice was still made to free them from protecting the Honmoon.

Celine is scared for what Rumi's entire existence means and is.

It was proof enough for her that demons should be eradicated, that the golden Honmoon must be achieved, at any cost. Because she couldn't risk a loss like Ryu again, not when they had every warning shoved in their face their entire lives, and still lost someone.

The way she handles her grief and general emotions towards the Honmoon and Hunter history and whatever is absolutely horrible and she desperately needs therapy that she realistically would never be able to get. None of her feelings and traumas excuse how she hurt Huntr/x, and most individually, Rumi — you know, the only thing left of Ryu, and the constant reminder of how demons are horrible and killed her friend — but they sure as hell explain why she is the way she is.

Despite having Korean ancestry, my family doesn't celebrate Chuseok in my hometown. I celebrated Chuseok when I lived in Korea for a few years and this was my experience:

LOTS of traffic - Many families moved to Seoul for work, and Chuseok is the time when they travel back to their hometowns to be with family (elder parents, grandparents, siblings ,etc.). The average time to drive from Seoul to Busan is about 4 hours with a 2 rest stops in between. On Chuseok in 2022, it took 8-9 hours for that same commute. So expect average travel from Seoul to other major cities to double.

Families might also travel abroad during this time. Seoul is pretty empty and lots of businesses are closed.

Cooking + eating with family was the main experience. Some families play games as well, but I haven't.

Foods eaten during Chuseok:

Songpyeon 송편- half-moon rice cakes. My family and I eat all sorts of tteok (rice cake) at this time. My favorite is injeolmi 인절미 - you know it's good, if you dont have to eat with honey ;). Ggultteok 꿀떡 is also great!

Japchae 잡채 - stir fried glass noodles

Yukjeon 육전 (aka meat jun in Hawaii)

Different types of jeon 전 - various fried veggies and meat

Yakgwa 약과 - honey cookie (not my fav, but maybe I haven't eaten a really good one lol)

Kalbijjim 갈비찜 - braised short ribs that's more like a stew

I am probably forgetting a lot more details, but this is what I can think of at the top of my head.

I was just thinking recently, what if Jinora or Ikki experienced the same pain and betrayal as Lin. What would Pema say if one of her daughters was on the other side of this love triangle. And say something like "so does that mean I'm the "wrong woman" for him?" I think it would have to be Jinora and Kai. Just because we already know them. But that's up to you. Let's say it happens a few years after Linzin's reunion, and Pema won't leave them alone, still thinking they can't be together.

It did happen to Jinora and Kai, but I didn't explore how it played out.

What happened was this girl who was spending time with Kai ended up getting advice from Pema. So she tells this girl to go express her feelings to the guy bc the worst he can probably do is reject her.

Pema has no idea that the girl was talking about Kai. She thought it was just some boy in the city.

Cue to Jinora crying next to Pema bc Kai broke up with her to immediately start dating this other girl. Pema is mortified and feels guilty as if she played a hand in the downfall of her daughter's relationship. I don't think she tells Jinora that she ended up giving the girl advice.

"Am I the wrong girl for him?" Jinora sobs.

"No, no, sweetie. He's the wrong boy for you..." Pema answers and she feels as if she needed to hear that message. But she denies it as a newly divorced woman

Tenzin's take on it is: "You were always too good for him! He didn't deserve you at all. He was good at escaping and getting into trouble--things that you don't need to be influenced by."

Pema and Tenzin probably clash on their approaches to the situation.

Pema projects her own experience onto Jinora and eventually advises her to try to make things work with Kai (despite him breaking up with her and moving on with another girl immediately)

Tenzin is all about kicking this boy off the island and keeping him out of Jinora's life for good. He doesn't understand why Pema would want their daughter to fight for a relationship that's obviously done for, it teaches Jinora to chase after love from someone who doesn't feel the same way

The next chapter of moon phases

“Mama! Mama! Look!”  It was unclear, yet as clear as day. A tiny form stood beside Katara in the same fluid stance. Their tiny arms mimicked the gracefully peaceful motions of pushing and pulling the water. Katara elevated some water and molded it into a sphere.  With ease, a smaller, but identical globe of water hovered under the child’s command.  “See, Mama?”  Lin smiled and nodded. “Yes.”  She took a step closer and a part of this world disappeared.  Another step.  Another corner of the world folded.  By the time she could reach the child, Lin was laying at the bottom of a snowhill alone. 

2. Spicy moment between post-canon Linzin (will be part of the Xue arc)

Lin had made it safely to the seventh month mark with no complications. There had been a few scares on this entire journey and Tenzin thanked the heavens for their protection over Lin and their baby. He pressed a tender kiss to the back of her neck as a silent token of his gratitude to her. Lin continued to sleep peacefully. Tenzin's hand wandered over the swell of her belly, upward toward her growing breasts. His palm curved around her breast, gently kneading and cupping the heavier weight.

Lin placed it further out of reach. “Yep, those are your older siblings.” A gentle kiss to the top of her baby’s head. Xue wriggled in her lap, leaning forward to the photograph. Lin pulled out another one and held it up to Xue. “That’s me and your father with them.” 

A glint of light bounced off of Xue’s eyes and her babbles grew louder. She made another unsuccessful attempt to snatch the photo from Lin. “You would have a lot of fun with them I think.” 

Xue squirmed and fussed when the photo hovered out of her touch. Tiny fingers opened and closed repeatedly.

8. Su and Lin reconciliation in AU (not sure if I will continue this, but we'll see)

“You have one more incoming student, Su. She’s waiting in the foyer.”  “Oh, wonderful! I’ll be down in a moment.”  Another eager student who wishes to learn under the daughter of Toph, the founder of Zaofu? What a delight!  A low hum followed the earthbender through the hall. Su bobbed her head slightly to her own tune. What is this new girl like? Is she from a small town trying to escape the Earth Queen’s stupid law about eating carp? Perhaps she’s the same age as Opal and can be a new friend for her daughter.  Oh.  She didn’t even ask Aiwei what the girl’s name was.  Su mentally shrugged. She’ll find out soon anyway. No big deal. What’s important right now is that she doesn’t keep her guest waiting for too long and makes them feel welcome at her home. Though it took many years to learn, Su finally tried to practice the golden rule of treating others as how she would want to be treated—like a friend or a family member.

OMG I’M SCREAMING 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I just found out that Mindy Sterling, Lin’s voice actor, ships Linzin!!! And she’s not the only one Korra’s and Zuko’s voice actors ship it too!!! It’s like literally everyone ships LINZIN except the writers ughhhhh 😩 (They all said it in their podcast on YouTube)

What qualities do you think Tenzin finds most endearing about Xue? Yes, she may be a mischievous little spirit at times, but it's clear that he adores his baby. I think he loves anything about her that reminds him of Lin, it confirms to him that yes, she is his daughter, his and Lin's, despite everything they went trought.

No matter what, Tenzin absolutely does adore his little girl. She's his everything, just like Lin. Here are a few qualities and quirks that he adores about her:

Xue will try anything. Food, activities, experiences, visiting places, you name it. Tenzin gives her so much credit for being daring to try something completely new, and always gives her praise if she doesn't like something

She gives Lin lots of affirmations to encourage, comfort, and support her. But with Tenzin, Xue shows her love and affection like giving him flowers or patting his back when he chokes on something

Xue truly has an old soul. She enjoys the classic music of Linzin's younger days and she does things exactly the way her parents do. Even if modern technology or ways make things easier, Xue finds comfort in doing things the old fashioned way

Xue doesn't care about superficial things like having to look beautiful or having lots of boyfriends

She's also determined to figure something out, and will only ask for help as a last resort. It took her almost 30 tries to get a proper origami crane. and she wasn't gonna give up until she got it right
