Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.

Shop is open!

As of today, Canada Post workers are not on a general strike so I am able to open my shop and ship out orders. I will post further updates if the situation changes.

I also reorganized some of my shop categories and scrapped the membership tier. Instead, I've added a 'digital' section for the phone wallpapers and cross stitch patterns. I did this because I realized I would have more digital products in the future (like maybe a picture book!).

I'm currently working on the next calendar illustration, and will share a WIP in the next blog post!

A bicolored striped sweat bee (Agapostemon virescens) for World Bee Day!

The bicolored sweat bee is native to North America, and is the official bee of Toronto even though many people here are unaware of its existence. It has a shorter tongue and therefore feeds from flowers that have short nectar tubes, such as coneflowers, sunflowers, asters, goldenrods, among others. Agapostemon virescens is also a solitary ground nesting bee, with the female digging a tunnel and gathering pollen for her larvae on her own.

Cherry blossoms!

I never really saw the appeal of pink until I started following a lot of artists, and every spring there'd be an explosion of cherry blossom art on my dash. Now it's one of my favourite aesthetics, and the majority of my gallery wall is cherry blossom prints!

I went to see the flowers blooming at the park for the first time ever (I never went in the past because it's such a big tourist event and there's huge crowds) and I went really early on a Thursday morning so there were only a handful of people. I took some nice photos, and was surprised that the flowers are more white than pink, but still very pretty!

Hi everyone,

I closed my shop for the market today, and because of the possible postal worker strike, it'll be closed until I can confirm that mail will be delivered without interruption.
