CHOI SUNGMIN - > KANG HYUNGGU (KINO)

So as some of you may already know, this fc change has been lingering in my mind for some time. While I have come to grow extremely attached to Sungmin, he has very few resources and it makes it hard to do things for him. I spent a long time struggling with this decision but I finally made up my mind to change. I feel happy with Kino as his fc as this is his last fc change so I had to think hard. While I will miss Sungmin and actually having sibling photos with Yena, there isn’t much else I can do with Sungmin while he’s in the army.

Sungmin hadn’t seen Sehun since before he had found out about his and Yena’s relationship. While he accepts that it was started because of him, Sungmin was still a bit uneasy and protective. He still wonders if this would have happened had he not made that one joke. He can ponder the what ifs all he wanted, it wouldn’t change the fact that his squishy was now dating his sister.

He hadn’t called Sehun that in some time. Having known the younger male for so long, he had come to think of the idol as a younger brother. This is why he had made that joke. Of all the people he knew, Sehun was probably the only one he would trust with his sister - but it didn’t mean he was going to accept it easily.

Sungmin had noticed Sehun watching him rehearse for some time through the mirror. When the song finished he raised an eyebrow. ❝ Are you gonna keep staring at me or are you gonna come in? ❞

To say he had a sister complex would be an understatement. It was blatantly obvious that Choi Sungmin adored his little sister. Perhaps the reason why he was so protective and clingy over his younger sister was because they grew up separately. Most siblings were raised together but the Chois had been raised by different people. Yena grew up with their parents and he with their grandparents. They had spent more time apart than together and now he was making up for lost time.

So when Yena had been announced as the new member of Heartz, well, he all but screamed. Pride filled Sungmin as he thought about his sister finally getting recognised for the talent she had. Yena was his everything and Sungmin was ready to be the embarrassing fanboy older brother.

Spying her in a practice room, Sungmin snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around his little sister, lifting her and spinning her in the air. ❝ Are you busy? Wanna go to dinner, Yennie? ❞

The theme of this month was foreign to Sungmin and he was utterly clueless. He had resorted to messaging his sister and googling not only what his zodiac sign was but also what it meant to be a Sagittarius. Remembering star signs was something that Sungmin didn’t do. He could barely manage to remember birthdays so how was he supposed to remember star signs?

One good thing about this evaluation was that he was once again working with his fellow Sphere trainee and friend Daniel. It had been some months since the duo had last worked together and the rapper was actually excited to be reunited with Daniel. The duo had signed around the same time and had spent a large number of evaluations working together. Daniel had also been there for him after what happened to his father and so Sungmin considered the other male an important friend, which was rare for him.

This was his first time meeting Chanyeol and so Sungmin had initially been hesitant and wary as usual but it didn’t take long for him to feel comfortable with the other rapper and relax around him. Sungmin had a reserved and wary personality and he found it hard to find people he connected with enough to relax around them. Even though he was still getting to know the trc trainee, Sungmin felt comfortable enough to relax a little around him. Chanyeol was an extremely skilled rapper which was enough to gain Sungmin’s respect.

The song they chose was not something Sungmin would normally perform. Having come from the underground scene where everything was serious and heavily rap focused, anything other than that was new to him and he often worried about whether or not he would be able to pull it off.

Only time would tell.

It seemed like fate was playing tricks on him once again considering Sungmin was once again working with Daniel. Even though it had been some months since the two friends last worked together, history was once again repeating itself. Sungmin didn’t mind, however, and was actually pleased to be working with Daniel once again. Meeting Chanyeol had been surprisingly pleasant and the two rappers managed to get along which helped their working together.

This month’s evaluation theme was, well, unique and something that the rapper had least expected. Sungmin had never paid any mind to what his star sign was or how it related to him. He had had to look up what his star sign was once the announcement was released since he had zero idea. Even as preparations began and the month came to and end, Sungmin was still clueless as to what the hell a Sagittarius was.

Finding a song that fit with the Sagittarius theme had been difficult and it had taken some time before the trio had settled on a song. Once they had agreed on what they were going to perform, the group then set about preparing and rehearing for the end of the month evaluation.

As each month passed, Sungmin found himself improving on his rapping and he’s been able to learn new tips and tricks. He’s also been able to learn new skills that he hopes could come in handy one day. Still, a big part of him misses his old life and performing underground and he often ponders whether or not to return to his underground life or to keep pursuing his new life. Sungmin was still not sure if he wanted to be an idol and he missed the freedom that he had once had.

Despite his uncertainties, Sungmin prepared for September’s evaluation and rehearsed hard with Daniel and Chanyeol. He focused on memorising the lyrics as well as work on his stage presence and rap techniques. There was some singing required for this evaluation and those were the parts he spent the most time working on since he was not a singer.

When it was time for their performance, Sungmin felt confident that the trio would pass the evaluation easily. They had worked hard rehearsing and preparing and Sungmin only hoped it showed in their performance.

“well you never know,” she challenges him with a chuckle. things could change so quickly these days and with how busy practice has kept her, she wondered how long it would take for her follower numbers to continue dwindling down. some sponsors had already cancelled their contracts and while she wasn’t worried about finances it was a sign that her fame was dwindling.  “maybe but yer still more talented than me as a performer,” she insists, raising a brow at him so he wouldn’t dare challenge her on that.

no matter what he said, he was the better performer.

“yer comfy on stage n’ yer great. I think y'should really go back. even if it’s just once a week. dun let ‘em keep ya off the stage just cause yer trainin’ to maybe be an idol now,” she advises him. yuzu has seen her brother go off in the underground and if there was something the siblings shared in common it was definitely their duality. for how cute he looked, his charisma was no joke on stage.

Sungmin made sure he kept his eyes on the road while also glancing at his younger sister (and at times glaring at her). He missed moments like these. Just the two of them alone in a car. Sungmin treasured Yena the most and he would gladly take any moment he could to be with her. He loved these normal moments the most. Just the two of them doing something together. He only wished the circumstances were better. He let out a scoff. ❝ I doubt that, ❞ he mumbled under his breath. Yena was a talented performer. Maybe even more than he was.

He knew better than to fight her though so he kept quiet.

Sungmin listened and let out a soft sigh. ❝ I’ve been thinking about going back a lot. These days especially. I think I should just do it. Screw Sphere. ❞ He chuckled. He missed performing and he wasn’t going to let his company stop him anymore. Maybe talking to Yena was the last push he needed and he loved his sister for how much she supported him.

She was right.
