a family ran establishment, HOOK & CROOK ACADEMY opened its doors in september of 2015. starting off as a humble, tiny studio that only offered singing lessons it took awhile for it to kick off. the business struggled for a bit, but after cha junyoung expanded the place with his sister boyoung, things finally began taking off. HOOK & CROOK ACADEMY officially ventured into the world of dance in april of 2017 - junyoung leading and recruiting the singing portion of the academy while boyoung conducted the dance aspects. the two work independently of one another, but coexist nicely, coming together for a performance or two throughout it’s many years together.

Im Yoona had always had trouble gaining and keeping weight. Many called her lucky, others hated her for it. Yoona just wanted to be normal. She could eat what she wanted and her metabolism would burn it quickly. Still, Yoona wanted to be able to be like other girls and worry about weight and normal things. She felt sorry for her friends who couldn’t eat what they wanted. Society was still very look-oriented and it was unfair.

Yoona giggled as she listened to her friend. ❝ There’s nothing wrong with that ❞ Yoona’s face lit up as she watched the other girl’s delightful expression. Yoona was all about seeing her friends happy and she hadn’t seen Kyulkyung eat like this in awhile. She smiled. ❝ How many did you order and how many do you have left? Do you need me to help you? ❞ She chuckled.

“i’m glad you would accept me that way.” kyulkyung nods slowly, raising a hand to press against her heart as she feigns delight. “people have mixed opinions about chicken nuggets, apparently.” although there was a part of her that still felt guilty when she snacked around a bit too much, it was hard to ignore whatever craving she had that day. while she attempted to keep it under control, the dancer could always break free for some nuggets.

“i ordered the largest... whichever that was.” and she actually said i want the biggest order of chicken nuggets you have. her stomach was beginning to bulge quiet unattractively, but she purposefully dressed in an over-sized t-shirt for the girls’ outing today, knowing her craving would be highest when tempted. “there’s still a lot left, but i’m going to explode. here, take some please.”

kyulkyung wasn’t one to become flustered and if she did, the woman did her best to conceal it. however, she can’t help the smile that graces her lips at jonghyun’s words - the kind words enough to make her steps light and chest warm. “ah... you know flattery works best with me.” she rolls her eyes despite the grin still curving her lips. the dancer falls into open arms anyway, not believing in half-assed hugs and therefore wrapping her arms around his torso.

jonghyun was always too kind to her - the pair having met during their time on the mgas. needless to say, they didn’t come out on top in the end but clearly gained some good experiences from the ordeal. 

“me? down? never.” she jokes, stepping out of the other’s arms to set her things down. her backpack slumps to the ground as she slings it from around her shoulders, pushing the item closer to the mirror with the toe of her foot. “excited is a better word, don’t you know what that looks like?”

He knows the feeling of not making it. With all the auditions and castings he’s joined half as a joke and half looking for a new challenge, Jonghyun knows how it feels to not be one of the chosen ones. However to get so far, to fall short right before the final stretch must be pretty damn devastating. 

So the moment she steps into the dance studio he says nothing but only opens his arms. A wide smile on his lips it’s somewhat funny how they met through the show which did both of them dirty. “What’s good gorgeous, hm? You’re too pretty to be looking this down.”

Always the charmer he has no trouble saying those overly cheesy words with the biggest smile on his lips, all with the promise of kind treatment and soft encouragement. He met her as his fan, now one could maybe even call them friends? Jonghyun sure would like that.

kyulkyung isn’t antiscpating any conversation with the way she’s hellbent on not being late for lunch with her mom. she isn’t really watching where she’s going - eyes not moving from where they had set on the straight path to the cafe before her. if it wouldn’t have been for the familiar, sweet voice calling out to her, the woman wouldn’t have even noticed the younger girl. her gaze shifted from one of confusion to complete joy, allowing a bright smile to break out across her face upon realization. “heejin-ah! of course i watched the finals.” she grins, offering her hand to take one of said flyers. “i knew you’d get a contract, they’re not stupid! and of course i will, you know that!”

     when it came to new interactions, to approaching strangers on the streets in the hopes that they’ll accept one of the many company flyers currently nestled safely in her arms, heejin figures it’s something she’ll have little trouble doing. she was confident, sudden interactions generally being a breeze, but the moment she see’s the others head of ashy purple hair, her legs move on their own. “kyul unnie!” she calls out through the crowd, reaching the older easily. “i don’t know if you watched the finals but…i got signed to trc,” her voice trails slightly, a small grin on her lips. “i have to hand these flyers out and saw you walking— will you take one for me?”
