|🌱| 성우 &  소민; wrong bitch.
She can’t help but laugh, though a hand comes up over her mouth to stifle the sound when he talks about his last partner. Big things come in small packages, as the saying goes. “S-Sorry…” she stammers between her hints of giggles. “I don’t want to hurt you, really! I just… I’ve learned other martial arts, but I think my last partner wasn’t too happy with me because I kept pulling moves from the other styles I learned.”
Naturally, working out and doing martial arts wasn’t a problem. She had been to the gym several times before where MMA was popular. Tae Kwon Do versus Muay Thai, or Karate versus Wing Chun. It’s always a learning curve of its own.
But none of them could prepare her for this kind of class where she has to unteach her muscle memory from doing a move one way, and learn how to do it the other way. “What if we first try to shadow it? There’s a thing called shadowboxing, where you’re fighting an invisible opponent, so you’d still punch and kick like you usually would. But if we’re practicing throws and self-defense, maybe we should check each other’s forms first before we throw each other down?”
just hearing that she had multiple disciplines under his belt had his hands tucking into his pockets in acceptance. he was ( once again ) going to be smacked this way and that. “don’t worry about it. i’m fully prepared to get my butt served to me today. you know in a weird way it’s nice knowing that all of these moves work regardless of size. i have two younger sisters who should’ve taken this class.” he mused, laughing along with her. “what other styles do you know?” because now he had to know exactly how he was going to get his ass kicked.
“shadowboxing?” he’d heard the term before, his head nodding during her explanation to let her know that he was following. he took his hands out of his pockets and rolled his shoulders, clearing his throat. “i can tell you right now that i don’t have much form to really evaluate nor do i really know what to look for.” it was clear he wasn’t trained in any kind of martial arts let alone even ever really fought in his life before. he was never much interested in any of it but he did have to start learning to use his body better than he had been.
“so you just kind of swing but don’t really hit right?” he asked, bringing his fist forward slowly so that she could see the path. he didn’t want to swing outright and hit her by accident. through this class he was really starting to find out that he was not suited for any of this at all.

|🌱| 성우 &  조단; haus party.
sitting there with a ukulele in his hand was just his normal state of being most of the time. it was not uncommon to find him walking around the trc or seocho building strumming out whatever popped into his head during his limited free time. and even now he wanted to set up his ukulele band - an idea which had never really gotten off the ground due to not knowing anyone else who could play the instrument.
hanging out with seongwu and his guitar was the next best thing.
it only took him a couple of seconds to tune his ukulele, barely even having to touch the pegs until he was satisfied. that was the thing with having perfect pitch, he knew when an instrument was in tune or not without having to use a tuner. and it also meant he could be annoying, but he didn’t think that was any different from how he usually was anyway. annoying was just a constant state of mind.
“your b string sounds a little flat,” he offered with a slight grin, tapping one of his ears with a couple of fingers. but he wasn’t going to say more about it, jumping up to his feet, fingers already absently plucking at the strings of his precious ukulele. “how long do you reckon we can play for being being kicked out for being too loud and annoying?”
he played some notes absently while he stood with the guitar in his hand awaiting the other, the melody plucked into life only halted as his pitch was called out. he looked down at the guitar in his hands as if it had betrayed him before he focused on tuning it again once more. jordan did have perfect pitch so he did have the advantage of having that knowledge seongwu would never have. he wasn’t going to argue it.
“mm, i think it depends.” he started, plucking at the string and listening closer. sure enough it had been a bit flat. he had a good ear for that kind of thing but perfect pitch was perfect pitch. “if we play well.. maybe fifteen or twenty minutes?” he strummed all the strings in succession once more. much better. he settled the guitar back into his hold and stood himself upright alongside the other. “if we play miserably, five minutes max.”
he strummed the strings once very loudly, a few heads turning before he began to pluck a simple melody to accompany the one jordan had already brought to life. “so i suggest we move fast as we play. chop chop!” he chimed. the strap was comfortable around him to make it easier for him to carry the guitar as they walked, a warm smile on his features passed over to the customers as their mobile impromptu concert properly began.

dowoon was definitely right about that. there was something about a prepared idol singing a prepared song and dancing a prepared dance that was suddenly thrust a script into their hands and expected to perform off the top of their head that was unsettling. seongwu definitely could feel that pressure and those nerves as he looked at the big blocks of highlighted words. some of them even specifically stated that it was improvised. there wasn’t even a script! “i always look at like yoo jaeseok and kang hodong and wonder just how long it took for them to get as skillful as they are. that’s talent right there.”
he perked up at the interest in his family’s restaurant and grinned, speaking as if he were selling the place on the food network. “oh, yeah, definitely! just let me know when you’d like to come by! we’re set up in the farmers market and we use the vegetables grown on the plot of land my grandparents tend to to make the food. my mother is an absolute genius in the kitchen but my dad isn’t far behind. you’d seriously love it.”
he laughed and shook his head, settling easily into his seat while speaking with the other. “that sounds like good practice honestly. especially not just for stuff like this but jobs in general. definitely useful for you now. besides, i can totally relate.” he scrunched up his features. “i have two younger sisters. i love them.. but i think it’s easier probably to have a brother.”
“sure, no problem.” he said with a calming smile as he let the other compose himself, his head turning to the script and holding a pretend mic to his mouth as he began to read off the first lines.
|🌱| 성우 &  도운; awkward silence.
rkongwu:
a part of him always saw himself on tv and hosts seemed to always have so much fun meeting with different celebrity guests and doing fun activities with him. if he was able to secure a spot on like shows like running man or a fun talk show, seongwu would consider his future career a success so long as he still got to sing and make music. hosting looked relatively easy from the outside looking in but he knew there had to be more to it and he was ready to tackle it, notebook and all. he wasn’t going to shy away from the material. sometimes you might have to embarrass yourself a bit for the best result and he was willing to do whatever was on their cards.
the friendly smile in returned eased his own and he bobbed his head in a nod, humming as he came to sit down beside the other male, taking his hand in a firm shake. “seongwu. nice to meet you too!” he released his hand and took the script they each had and he thumbed through it a bit, grazing over the lines very briefly before he looked at the other. “isn’t this kind of crazy? i mean it’s one thing to watch and kind of criticize hosts but now to have to lead a whole segment?” he huffed and cocked his head a bit doubtfully. “there’s a kind of pressure that comes with this, yeah.” he laughed before questioning. “have you ever done anything like this before? i feel like the closest i’ve come has been announcing orders at my family’s restaurant.”
Dowoon flicked through his own script with a hum, eyes scanning it in an attempt to pick up on any specific cue he could latch on to. When Seongwu spoke again, Dowoon marked his place with his finger and smiled.
“I guess it is. I mean, I spent most of my life watching these kind of shows, but I never really thought about the whole improvisation bit. To me it just seemed so natural.” He paused and laughed. “I guess that’s the sign of someone who’s good at it, that their audience can’t even realize they’re making stuff on the fly!”
“Ah, your family has a restaurant? I’ll have to make sure to visit sometime!” He was only half-joking. Granted Dowoon rarely had free time, but after his operation, eating out was one of his favourite things to do.
At Seongwu’s question, Dowoon hums, a slightly thoughtful look on his face. After a moment he spoke up again. “I….. I don’t think you can put it into the same category, but my mum is a journalist, sometimes we’d have mock-interviews and throw all kind of stuff at each other to see how we’d react…” Ears slightly red, Dowoon ducked his head a little. “It sounds a bit dumb, doesn’t it? But better than playing pretend with your little brother…”
Realizing he was digging himself into a hole, Dowoon hastily cleared his throat and glanced back down at the script. Overcome by shyness for a moment, it too some time for him to find his voice before he spoke up again.
“You….you wanna start? I- I mean start practice, that is! I can start us off, if you want!”

her eyes land upon the notebook and suddenly, songhee wonders if she should have brought one herself, although, knowing herself, there is no way that she would take notes. as he gaze around the room, she does too, nodding in agreement to the statement– there sure are many people attending, some surely for the learning experience and some, like herself, for the sake of being in the same room as gyeol. “i think thay maybe some are here for her,” she marks, a subtle nod of her head made towards the instructor of the vocal class. “i know i am.”
her grin grows at her confession, though, the next question bringing her into thought. songhee wouldn’t necessarily call it an interest, even if that’s precisely what it is. “hmm… i suppose that i’ve been singing for a while, but not– professionally, you know? but i’ve always loved to sing.” shifting in her seat, she glances of at her friend, only to turn back when she realises that she’s busying herself with her phone. “what about you? i see you are prepared to take notes!” it isn’t said mockingly, but her tone reveals mild amusement, innocent amusement, at that.
shifting once again, she now reaches for her water bottle to take a sip out of the one and only thing she brought with to the class– well, aside from her phone, obviously, and her belongings that are always kept in her backpack. “it’s a good idea really, taking notes.” she says.
he couldn’t even deny the truth of her statement, a laugh crinkling the corners of his eyes as his head bobbed quickly in agreement. “there’s not a fan in their right mind that would pass up the opportunity to see an idol they admire in person.” he did not exclude himself from that either. it was one of the driving factors for him showing up to the modeling workshop. he had interest in modeling... but he wasn’t going to pass up seeing doyeon closer than just through his computer screen either. “that’s why i signed up for modeling.”
she was probably the first person he had met so far in the singing classes that had the same level of passion and lack of professional experience, a relieved smile overcoming him. “yeah, i’m the same way. i’ve not done anything like professional or taken any classes but i’ve grown up singing so it’s all i really know.” he flashed a smile and tilted his notebook a bit, playing at the pen. “yeah, i’m usually pretty terrible at remembering things if i don’t write them down. this class i think is going to have a lot of helpful tips.”
he gave a light shrug of his shoulder. “if you’d like, you can take pictures later. i’m pretty detailed with notes so i can walk around with my head empty all day.” he laughed at his joke, shaking his head softly to indicate that.

SEONGWU
|🌱| 성우 &  새롬; back to basics.
it’s always odd running into old friends, especially friends you haven’t spoken to in years. and saerom had no idea why. she just reacted in the way that mirrored his. allowing whatever friendship they had years ago fizzle out, the woman truthfully didn’t think about it often. she had learned to let things like that roll off her back and go far away from her. but it seemed as if the two had found their way back to each other; maybe it was meant to play out this way.
so she let’s herself simmer with whatever resentment she felt, before pushing it away with a deep breath.
saerom allows herself to crack a smile at his words, recalling the boy seongwu used to be. she never thought he was ugly or anything despite the flaws he described, truth be told she never really paid much attention to it. “no actually, just revisiting some of the basics i guess.” she speaks with a shrug of her shoulders. “you can never learn too much. how about you? ever done anything like this?”
he didn’t want their encounter to carry a heavy mood even if there was probably a purple elephant squeezed between the two of them. he wanted them to be able to kind of see each other for the person they were now. after all these years they certainly weren’t the same depictions of their pre-pubescent selves and there had been a lot of maturing. for starters, his financial situation was not something he was embarrassed about anymore. his parents worked hard as did he and his sisters. it just simply something that was in his life.
“honestly as long as the basics are something solid then everything just falls into place it feels.” he mused in agreement before giving a shake of his head, settling back lightly into his seat, his feet stretched out before him. “actually, no. i never... i couldn’t afford something like this growing up even if i tried to save. this is like my first official formal lesson.” saying it out loud didn’t make it seem so bad. maybe it was just him who felt he was behind the curve.
“but youtube was a helluva teacher though. lots of people on there give really good advice so i try not to fall behind.” he flashed her a smile. “i’m kind of super excited about it as geeky as that sounds.”

|🌱| 성우 &  도연; starstruck.
her job there wasn’t finding a new face for the fashion industry, no. actually, other than experience, she only had some contacts she could lend to some kids if they wished to pursue that career, but it didn’t stop her from noticing how a handful of them could make money with it if it was something they were willing to invest their time and efforts in; she knows better than anyone that modeling was more than just having a pretty face and knowing how to pose. encouraging them wouldn’t hurt anyone, after all, and she felt like it would be nice of her to give them feedback, especially positive ones since these type of workshops tended to be more judging than fun and inspiring.
she looks up at him with a confused expression for a moment, not sure if her approach was a bit too unexpected and intimidating or if the young man just happened to be a fan, judging by his reaction.  “sorry, i didn’t mean to startle you,” she says with an apologetic grin, then nods along as he speaks. “oh i see… it makes sense. you looked comfortable there! but yeah, you did! wanna see your pictures?” she offers, pointing to the laptop behind them. they should see the final results to understand she wasn’t just being nice, because although the photographer was good, he wasn’t a magician yet.
“were my tips that good?” she asks jokingly, more to herself than the other, and a soft laugh escapes her lips. all the kids were going home with a nice picture to call theirs, but her trained eyes could tell some had trouble with it while others looked natural. “that’s just my bet, but i think my former agency would like to meet you.” she continues. it wasn’t something she could decide herself, but the girl had a good intuition on things like this after working so many years as a model.
any kind of connection was a good connection in this industry because all it really took was for someone you knew to know the right someone else. seongwu didn’t really know anyone and he didn’t have the formal lessons that others had and so he had to work with the things made available to him. he didn’t expect to be best friends with doyeon but to be able to leave an impression on her was more than enough for him to take that small seedling of an idea towards modeling and start to be able to see the possibility.
“no, no. you didn’t. i’m just a huge fan.” one who obviously couldn’t get his words together and so he had to cool himself out a bit. he returns her smile a lot more comfortably. he needed to keep his wits about him. he didn’t want to be creepy. “i’m happy it came across that way. it’s one thing to play around in front of the camera but to pose directly for it...” his head tilted in quiet awe with a soft laugh. “definitely takes a certain skill set. sure, yeah.” he softly motioned for her to walk before him, following after her to see the pictures displayed on the screen.
it was totally different than how he usually saw himself. he was never really one to doll up, dress up. he cared about how he look but only very basically. a nice sweater or shirt, some jeans and more often than not converses was more than enough for him to feel comfortable and presentable. but looking at himself in the eyes of a photographer was not something he had ever done before. he was actually... pretty good looking. he couldn’t help the small smile of approval at his visuals. he definitely needed work even in his eyes but he could see what she meant when she said he photographed well. “i think so. i could never achieve that on my own before today.” he laughed before the sound was cut short and his eyes widened. surely she was just saying that, a smile of disbelief settling over him. “no... really? you think so? even though this is the only experience i have?”

|🌱| 성우 &  혜주; the beginning.
It is far too early for her to be attending such an event. Never mind the fact that is noon. But there is a reason why Olivia avoided morning classes. She would rather stay up all night working as a bartender and take up evening classes than have to bear the fact that she’ll have to be awake anytime before 1pm. It’s safe to say that she is not a morning person.
Definitely, something she struggles with ever since she got signed into TRC two weeks ago. During her first day, Olivia admitted could not sleep the night before and ended up arriving at the building far too early than any veteran trainee would. But that’s about the only day that’s happened.
She was just about to nod off when he stumbled on the chair beside her, effectively alerting Olivia’s fast reflexes to push him away from her. “Oh shit-” She gasped out, it wasn’t her intention to hurt him but her fight reflexes were always a lot faster than her flight one, “… I’m good but are you?”
there was really no way for this to go smoothly and he knew that whatever happened was bound to backfire on him. to be that tall and to be that out of coordination with his body should really be a shame. her reaction was a valid and natural one especially when he seemed to have disturbed her sleep and woke her up so suddenly. her shove sent him stumbling back a bit more but he caught himself on the chair of a nearby seat someone sat in, a cry of surprise leaving him and the person whose chair was momentarily lifted.
he apologized profusely before turning back to the girl he had clearly scared the lights out of and began to apologize again. “oh my god, i’m sorry! i didn’t mean to startle you! i was just trying to see if this seat was free at all.” he explained, trying not to laugh at the situation even though the corners of his lips curled up despite the red embarrassment in his ears. he had to admit though. the situation was pretty funny. “i’m good. still standing and relatively unharmed. can’t say my pride didn’t take a nice punching though.”

seongwu genuinely enjoyed things like this. not only because of his job and the freedom in the kitchen it allowed him but also his diet as a vegetarian naturally led him to try new ways of cooking things and new recipes. so it was only logical that it spilled into his singing as well. just as much as he took care of his body, he took care of his voice as they were all he had when it came to his career.
being in this class really let him step out of the box and explore a bit more while also dabbling in some new things advised from professionals. his notebook that he scribbled in every so often when the instructor gave a good tip point or when he noted something about the recipe was beside his workstation within reach as he stirred at the honey mixture they were currently working on.
her voice turned his head, eyes finding the spoon that indeed had toppled and dirtied itself on the ground and he laughed lightly, agreement coming easily. “yeah, of course.” he lifted his spoon out and used a napkin to clean it up a bit before handing it off to her, still wearing an amused smile. “how’d you manage to do that? knocked it down?”
❊ —- drink up
starter for @rkongwu
There were plenty of benefits that one could obtain when making drinks, be it juices or tonics. As a dancer and someone who was in the business ever since she was a child, Chaeyeon knew about all sorts of a health craze that came along her career to maintain healthy and to keep up with ‘standards’ across the border. But there is always room for growth.
With Sphere training them up to be vocal powerhouses, Chaeyeon thought taking this workshop would be perfect and benefit her later on. Now that her roommate is now a trainee maybe she would make some for her as well, to along with them during the day. It’ll be helpful for the days leading up to evaluations as well.
Turning towards the person next to her, “Ah excuse me? Hi! do you think I can borrow your spoon for a minute? I dropped mine on the other side.” Smiling sheepishly as she gestures at her dirty spoon.

mini-plot.
you won’t have to write a thread or anything if you don’t want to! but i want seongwu to do a song that requires a rapper because he CANNOT rap. so if anyone has a muse that is willing to lend a voice if they’d prefer to not be in the video, please let me know! i’d really appreciate it! i just basically need to credit them for the rap vocals in the song since it wouldn’t be him.

the more he did these covers, the more he was able to determine a style that he truly enjoyed when it came to music. he had an affinity for songs with a bit of a less cute vibe and ones where they were not only upbeat but still allowed for him to play with his vocals. through this discovery alone as well as the songs that he experimented with in the very beginning, seongwu was starting to really understand himself as not only a future idol but as a musician developing their musical color. it helped him stylistically and gave him the confidence to delve further.
the song he chose this time around was a continuation of the same artist as he’d found a vibe that he was very much into and their discography spoke to that. maturing and impactful with clever lyrics and strong stage focus. that was what he wanted. that was what he was envisioning. he longed to have a stage presence that filled seats whether it was his own music or the music of a group but now he was really starting to see himself in that idol spotlight. something that was so uncertain before... he really longed for it now. he needed it.
the bit of editing he had to do with this song to give the layering and audio effects was a journey all it’s own but he was happy to have the time to dedicate more to his vocals. this was a song that was right within his range and yet still lifted him into his head voice which had grown significantly more stable that belting into it came much more easier. there was no visual effort on his part even if he could feel the notes sliding along his larynx with the carefully controlled pressure to push them into his head. he would never be satisfied until it was second nature but he was content with his progress from the beginning of his journey.
this song had quite a bit of theatrics and drama within the lyrics and it allowed for him to work on song delivery. not having to focus solely on staying on key allowed for him to bring his own style within the breaths of the song, breathing life into the words and it manifested in his eyes as well. perhaps one of his most charismatic performances he’d uploaded as gestures came naturally and notes that became a playground, he was able to show the full range of his current abilities currently with a gaze that transcended the camera.
the growth he was able to achieve on his own was something he was very proud of and he took that to heart. he was starting to see himself as the artist he envisioned and he knew that the songs going forward would also show this. he was no longer just a boy with a guitar but he was starting to see seongwu the idol.

as fun as acoustic covers could be, seongwu was a bright person by nature and something with a little bit more energy in it definitely got his heart pumping and fed his inner soul. something catchy, something fun, something that let him play with his voice. it was what he had been craving after these last few covers but he couldn’t ignore his current goals: head voice. he found a song where he could not only have fun with what he excelled in but also to focus on his training. he even dressed himself up for the occasion. with such a strong harry potter reference, how could he be anything but gryffindor?
the song just felt magical to him and it resonated well with him, the red scarf he wore with the black robe adding to the confidence he had. the song was sung mostly in his chest voice with some pushing towards his mixed voice and for him that was perfect. it was the perfect recipe for his best cover he’d uploaded so far, the power and control the chorus called for coming to him naturally as his voice lifted just as the corners of his lips did -- comfortable and happy. all he had was the mic in front of him but he sang towards his camera as if he was before a crowd of people. he could feel the song throughout his entire body and it showed in his smile.
even as the song slowed for the breakdown and his movement minimized so that he could find his head voice, his hand rested against his sternum, and take the notes he needed hand in hand to coax them out. he didn’t push too far into his head voice and it truthfully could be called more of a mixed-head voice but he kept himself on the higher spectrum of his range just to push himself. this entire month was about strengthening where he lacked. as time passed over the course of the entire month, he had made leaps and strides from where he was when it came to his head voice and it significantly showed. he was much more confident and having passed the halfway mark, he was finding stability in maintaining his voice in that range. by the time the song dropped back into his strongest suit, he was nothing but smiles.
this was the kind of constant practice he craved. he needed it to flourish.

rktaeyang:
|🌱| 성우 &  태양; notorious.
should he perfectly honest, then taeyang would admit to being thuroughly impressed with the instructor and her choreogyaphy, k.arma’s main dancer really did a good job with this one. as time came to sign up for the class, he wasn’t sure what to expect, partially prepared to not be particularly hyped. instead, kil has managed to open his eyes about contemporary dancing, it definitely brought an interest to make its presence. smiling sheepishly, taeyang worries that he scared the other male instead of reassuring him. “ah~ no, no, no.” he chuckles.
“don’t say that, we’ll get through this.” without doubt, taeyang has come to memorise the base already, the routine has stuck with him already, but it’s the flow of moves he struggles with. his experience as a hip hop dancer and a choreographer of the same style makes all the popping rather easy, however, it doesn’t come as natural to him to move like water– then again, he has always been under the impression that he shouldn’t necessarily copy the instructor exactly, he should have his own twist to the routine. after all, everyone has each their body.
reaching out, taeyang welcomes the greeting by a grin of his own and a gentle squeeze of the male’s hand. “nice to meet you, i’m taeyang.” it has been a little while since taeyang was open for actually meeting new people, mostly due to his position as a trainee– sure enough, he has the opportunity when he is practicing in seocho, but not like this, not so casually. as someone who thrives in making new acquaintances, taeyang notices that he has missed this.
he tried to be positive about it and he managed to smile but it was also very clear that this was not his forte. but that was the reason he had showed up. to challenge himself to something new and it must’ve been the reason taeyang had showed up as well especially if it was because of the difference in dance genre that he was used to. it was clear they were both a little out of their elements -- seongwu more than him -- but that was why it was good to partner up! the buddy system tended to work well.
“you’re right. we got this!” he said it with two raised fists of encouragement for the two of them before he laughed a bit and came to stand officially beside the other. “nice to meet you too taeyang.” it seemed that he never really was able to make an abundance of guy friends and this was a nice change to add to friendly faces. plus knowing people who were skilled in other areas -- especially dancers -- was something he felt he would be able to learn from and he saw that even more in the present moments.
he stretched his arms out above his head and bent his back, clapping his hands together as if ready to go. “so like... how do you start off? like do we count or just kind of let it flow and follow through to the lyrics? or just memorization?” he had absolutely no idea and it was clear, a soft laugh leaving him as he ran his fingers through his hair. “i did a school festival thing once and we just kind of winged it but i know that wouldn’t apply here.”

@rkxsnh
why was it that the opening speech felt something like a graduation ceremony or something along those lines? it was a large group of seats to be filled by attendees that held crumpled up schedules that were handed off to them at the doors as they came in. the main thing they all had in common was the fact that they were going to have to sit through this terribly long introductory speech buzzing with excitement until they could get to the real fun stuff. but maybe this was a little different than a graduation ceremony... for starters, he’d showed up late to this.
he tried to crouch and make his long limbs not protrude as much as they could, hushed apologies accompanying the red ears he had of embarrassment. toes he tried to avoid, attention he tried not to garner, just an empty seat a ways away was all he needed and yet--
his foot caught on the ankle of a seated attendee and he went stumbling a bit, crash landing rather pathetically into a ( fortunately ) empty seat beside a girl. he clasped onto the arm rest and squeezed his eyes shut, turning around and immediately dipping his head in apology. “i’m so sorry, oh my god. are you okay?”
