The King of the Wood
The King of the Wood was a devious experiment that demanded my ultimate attention. It followed a haunting scheme that put me in control of a man who spoke no words. I wandered around in his castle-of-a-house and got chased by his damn automatons. I read his books and I drank his drinks and I killed him. His mirrors were broken, his heart was empty (if it was his to be empty), his face was b-l-a-n-k. But did I kill him because I took in his spirits or because I was told to? Did he believe in God? Did he read all these books? What did he know?
I know many will not grasp the inner-ness of this game, I don't even think I've grasped what each ending truly means. With each seemingly meaningless painting or book the story grows deeper, and even with the minimal designs the game I found myself occupied with the graduated killer's life and the existence of his assignment. From the exterminator's office to the mansion of his target I wandered through coincidences and hallways and all I could hear was the song. The song! Turn on his laptop, watch Mr. Torrance bounce his ball; go upstairs and see his Magritte; go to him and listen and decide for yourself. Be careful, he know's you're coming and he's ready. Good luck.
