I'm not worrying about how much weight I'm moving rather how well I'm moving the weight I'm not concerned with how much volume rather I'm focusing on the efficacy of the volume I've realized I don't need that much variety and the basics work just fine. I take the ego out. I don't compare myself to others as to not rob myself of the success of my own progress. Developing my legs has always been a struggle. Due to injuries, I had mobility issues I needed to work on, weaknesses to make up for and inflammation that comes and goes. ----------------------------------------- Today was one of those days where my knees didn't feel great. I really like this movement as either part of a super set or as a finisher. I've used a DB squeeze press but it doesn't feel the same as this. ---------------------------------------- I think by using the bumper plate it increases the distance between my hands and gives me a better grip. ---------------------------------------- Squeeze the plate while moving through the concentric and eccentric. So your chest is literally engaged the entire time with no break. Rack pulls are a nice change of pace from deadlifts. Though it is a shorter ROM they do help to focus more on the upper back and traps. ------------------------------------------ I keep my grip a little wider than shoulder width and the bar position starting just below my knees. Haven't been doing much barbell work but must say this felt relatively smooth. Though I do get great chest activation when I flat bench, I find I get better chest development from incline and decline presses along with fly variations. This is a flashback to when I have been stronger. Through a couple of decades of training I have learned so much. ------------------------------------- I have learned the importance & benefits of training in different modalities, with intensity, with purpose, with structure, & addressing weaknesses. ------------------------------------- Training using DUP served me well. I got really good at the big 3 which help me put on more size & learn how to use progressive overload. ------------------------------------- It also taught me that the human body can adapt very quickly & the fear of overtraining is just that a fear not a reality. ------------------------------------- Though I no longer train using this methodology it served me well to understand that in order to be good at being a bodybuilder I need to focus on the modality in which I wish to improve as well as recovery. That means more hypertrophy training & allowing for enough rest. ------------------------------------- Here's to you 455lb squat. Today was a day where getting out of bed was hard. Thankfully my son is spending a weekend with his grandparents...
