Kira loves her fish because they’re something she can pour affection into without being ridiculed or seen as weak. Feeding schedule, water temperatures, light level, foliage changes, water cycling and regulation. Love from her comes in the form of attention, precious time from her busy life to show something or someone care.

Fish are easy. They don’t stare back and they don’t make Kira feel like she’s going to lose her grip any moment. Just the quiet gurgling of tanks around her to soothe the racing thoughts she pretends she doesn’t have.

Thoughts on Val being Mel’s sugar mommy and spoiling her with a bunch of clothes and jewelry and expensive things?

this is literally canon. val buys her everythingggg. i don’t think there’s a single thing that mel has bought that wasn’t paid using val’s cards.

and it’s not like she asks or expects val to buy her things. in fact, she used to argue with val about not wanting to be spoiled but she then realised that she’ll never win that fight so she just lets val do it.

i like to think that mel would try to tell her that she thinks she shouldn’t have the job if her boss is just going to buy her everything anyway, like she’s not using the money she earns, but val says no to her quitting. she needs mel with her—for emotional support and quickies in her office—she can’t live without her little assistant.
