The lights inside the lift were too soft, the chrome too polished. Tenna could see his reflection ten different ways from where he stood, arms crossed tightly, trying not to look like he was holding his breath. Spamton rocked slightly on his heels, humming tunelessly— some drunken version of a jingle from earlier in the night. His tie was loose, barely hanging on. One shoulder of his jacket had fallen off. It should’ve looked sloppy, but somehow it made him look comfortable. Relaxed.

Like he did this kind of thing all the time.

The elevator doors pinged open and Spamton was already walking.

its a satire of the cold war, personifying specifically the US and soviet forces. heres the thing; the entire point of spy vs spy is that we have no backstory, no interpersonal relationships displayed on either side of the story except for one another. spy vs spy would not exist without their relentless rivalry with one another.

in short, we're supposed to believe that their lives completely revolve around one another and nothing else.

if I had a nickel for every time I consumed a piece of media in the month of June that fundamentally changed me which involved a fictional man in a red suit with trauma relating to abandonment, self worth, and the entertainment industry, while personally connecting to me, and being involved in TV, while drastically affecting the narrative, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
