Hot take: Val and Angel Dust would have been way better if they were just an average sketchy film producer and film star respectively. You can still have the "Angel Dust is an overworked party animal" and "Val is a creep who abuses his power" and have it fit way better with the other two more fantastical Vs and not have the weird whiplash between "Goofy Goober Hothead" and "Disturbingly real portrayal of an actual problem" like Val has in the show proper. At least that's my thoughts on them.

Agreed, and also I want "Goofy Goober Hothead" and "Disturbingly real portrayal of an actual problem" to replace their names in the show and on all promotional materials, especially when they appear together.

Okay so this was based specifically off of reading a fic where two different canon female love interests were written off as "cheating bitches" despite neither of them being unfaithful to the male love interest in canon, so...that, for one thing.

A non-exhaustive list of things that make me think the author really doesn't like women that much:

Women regularly being described using derogatory language (bitch, slut, etc)

Major female romantic rivals being written off as cheating, abuse, gold-diggers in an out of character way (for fics)

Female characters being described as shrill, hysterical, etc

Male characters being written in negative ways by giving them traditionally/stereotypically feminine traits (e.g., overly submissive, especially to an "overly assertive" female character)

Transmisogyny

Fridging female characters

Relationships between two women (usually two cis women, when genitals are relevant to the conversation) being erased or existing only as an afterthought while m/m relationships are a major focus

Female characters being derided or "getting their comeuppance" for being popular, being attractive and aware of the fact that they're attractive, liking/caring about fashion, being "overly" interested in men, etc

"Not like other girls" narratives

Erotic descriptions of women's dead bodies

yes, raph has his name listed as “Tony” on Instagram, which is a common shortening/nickname version of “Anthony” which is Angel Dust’s real name.

The fact that the literal email given that was allegedly supposed to respond in case shit like this happened..

So why does A24 need to be the one to send me a clearly computer generated reply saying 'oh hey there's been a production thing so no worries'??????

And frankly, given that I'm already in the process of getting my refund with my own bank (it is being looked at rn) and am currently waiting for a response, I don't care either. I don't have a 100% rock certain answer for you. All I know is that there were some legal issues, and that this was posted to SH before the episode aired.

It makes no sense from an artistic perspective but the reason why Vivziepop fans are weirdly vindictive about redesigners, but thing is that redesigners typically try to make sense of the design Viv describes (vaggie redesigns typically make her more moth-like, Adam redesigns typically make him look more angelic, etc) while Viv’s are extremely over indulgent, incomprehensible and basically break character design fundamentals.

It’s why they unironically think making a bee look like a dog is good character design, and any attempt to actually look like a bee makes her “boring”.

it’s so weird bc they genuinely feel like a “queer-coded” couple.

they feel like the kind of characters the writers couldn’t directly *say* were a couple and had to instead hint at it through the characters’ behaviors.

the kind of characters fans would grab screen caps of and post online with a caption like “look how she is looking at her!! you can’t tell me they’re not madly in love!!”

lol a lesbian said they found chaggie dry which was a common statement since the initial pilot (even among fans) and now all of a sudden fans are treated it like its some kind of outrageous statement

I think it’s interesting how a lot of Chaggie shippers don’t realize that Vaggie’s weird “I’m worthless if I can’t make you happy” is never really… addressed? Even in the episode where she says it outright, the resolution isn’t “Vaggie shouldn’t hinge her happiness on someone else” it’s “Vaggie just needs to trust herself and Charlie more”.

Honestly when Charlie found out that Vaggie was an ex-angel I got excited because I wanted to see Vaggie devastated after hinging so much of her happiness onto Charlie’s feelings. But when she just went back to being monotone and slightly irritable I realized “oh this wasn’t an intentional character flaw. This is just how Viv writes “healthy” couples”

Because Millie had this exact same problem.
