Kanye’s  Best Album

I believe many musical artists have a album the majority of people believe is their best. Many people would agree Radiohead's Ok Computer is their best piece of work. But with some artists this is not the case. One artist that stands out is Kanye West.

I remember the first time I heard West’s music. He immediately stands out against most modern artists. Kanye’s political views aside he has been one of the most innovative and trend-setting artists of the last few years. A great example of this is his album 808s & Heartbreak witch only got a 7.6 out of 10 on Pitchfork, a music blog, one of Kanye’s lowest scores on the site. But what stands out about this project is how the auto tune vocals that fill this album seem to be everywhere after Kanye did it. Countless chart topping songs take inspiration from this album.

When it comes to the music West makes I can not choose a favorite album. I couldn't even choose a top 3. Each piece of art has something completely unique. At first I thought my favorite was Graduation, but while I find a lot of enjoyment from it, it's not his most groundbreaking. Cruel Summer, a compilation album Kanye made is the first one I think is eliminated. Also while The Life Of Pablo and Watch The Throne aren't terrible, they definitely aren't his best.

I think one of the hardest to place projects by Kanye it Ye. The album at only 23 minutes seems to be a response to all of the recent controversies surrounding the artist. While worth a listen it isn't one of his best. Kid See Ghosts is possibly one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums in recent years. It is a collaboration album between West and Kid Cudi. It's also 23 minutes but is packed full of great songs. Since it is a collaboration like Watch The Throne it doesn't count.

Yeezus would be the next out. Its experimental but definitely not my favorite, so that leads us with Graduation, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, 808s & Heartbreak, Late Registration and The College Dropout. Each is different and great. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the most Kanye West album by Kanye West. The album is probably the most at home to his typical style. It's not as innovative (in my opinion) as his other works.

I think Kanye is one example of a reason an album can't just be “The Best.” An album represents each area of an artist's career. Like how Weezer's Blue Album and Pinkerton are often debated over which is the best by the band. They each are different and can you compare two albums that aren't even in the same genre?
