And we have a semblance of hands now! Not done yet but slowly chugging along. I secretly HATE painting hands and so I have begun to force myself to make sure there are visible hands in nearly everything I paint now. I find that I am getting better at them but I still hate them. I am not a huge fan of flowers either….so I am trying to get them done first now so I can move on to the stuff I really like - finishing the face and doing the small details.

Here is where we are after a few hours of work. I’m really trying to flesh out her face and get her hands looking less alien. Once I figure those out I’ll be able to start getting more creative with it.

I thought I might post an early image of Shauna. She is the next girl in the series I am doing. This is the sketch - about an hour of work just deciding the pose and blocking things out. I decided on Narcissus flowers for Shauna and put her knife in one hand. I’m not sure if I am completely happy with her pose yet. It might go through a few changes but I’m really happy with the blocking in of her face so far.

Melissa….aka “hat”. She took a long time to draw. I had a really hard time having fun with this one and I feel like I cut a lot of corners just to get her done. Finally I think I can call it finished and it is a good enough edition to the series.

Had to do Tai after Van. This one was really challenging with the lighting I chose. But I wanted the blue side to represent “anTai”. The dirt on her hands and mouth as well as the symbol being on that side of her body to me represents “anTai”. Hellebore is the flower I chose to represent her and I am very happy with how it came out.

Did this as a gift for a friend for Christmas 2024. This is probably one of my best pieces. I was very proud of it at the time and still am.

I painted this a few months ago and just never shared it anywhere but my TikTok. I love Sailor Moon. It was a huge part of my childhood and one of the reasons I started drawing.

I love this one! Absolutely obsessed with how the playing card came out and I am much happier with the flowers this time (asphodel).

Natalie Scatorccio for the second Yellowjacket in the series. Trying to go a little deeper and add some symbolism in. I might even redo Misty after I get through the other girls of the group. I’m not completely happy with the poppies but I didn’t think I could make them much better ( I’m still trying to get better at flowers…..).

Misty Quigley is my favorite Yellowjacket. I decided to kick this series off with her and I am very pleased with the outcome!
