Have you ever thought about creating background stories for the monsters in Total Destruction? I remember a trailer for Total Destruction where more details were given about the human lives of the monsters.
I have, though there's so many of them, I'm not sure it would be worth the effort. I do certainly have backgrounds for the Universal Tour monsters and Harley from Through Time, though these will only come up sporadically.

Rampage RP part 2
Deep inside a large scum labs facility, a top secret experiment was being conducted. For years they had been slowly working on mutating humans into beasts to use as weapons of destruction, and have been hit with unsatisfying results in the form of mutants that… didn’t meet their requirements. Some mutated too much into abominations that had to be put down. Some were either too intelligent, or too stupid to serve them. But today was the day that they made the perfect monsters to use. Two large monsters, one blue Wolf and one Orange Fox rested in stasis tubes. They had been the most successful of all the mutants.
The wolf’s mind stirred. He was often subject to nightmares… a human man being tormented by experiments. While he cared little for the man’s pain, it felt familiar. He could empathize with the feeling of being used, trapped and treated as if he was at best an object and at worst, a pest to be wiped out. He didn’t know yet how close to home these nightmares truly were. He began to open his eyes, his vision blurred, the sound of garbed voices outside the tube. What were they saying? Would it matter if he could understand? He tried to get a better look, but only saw vague humanoid silhouettes. His eyes moved to the side, he saw another watery object. one that undulated too much to truly be made out. Still, he saw what seemed to be a reddish figure within the other object. What was it? Something important? He didn’t know. All he knew was that he was tired of not knowing.
All he wanted was out, to be free once more: free to move, to devour and destroy.
————————–
The fox beast stirred, it saw the blurry shape of it’s counterpart in the tube next to it. Like the wolf it wanted to be free, Sam wanted to be free, to destroy, to see these humans crushed to bloody bits, and their cities crumble under his might! He began to beat his fists against the glass tube, slowly seeing it crack.
With a mighty thrust, his arm broke through, feeling light cuts from the sharp glass, but he didn’t care. With more punches the tube finally shattered. The human scientists ran, scrambling like animals to the exits, alarms blaring in the background. Huffing, he loudly roared at his freedom, growling as he set his sights on the other tube. “Friennnndd?” He said with a low growl in his deep voice, waiting to see what Ralph would do and if he could be a friend in his rampage.
------------------------------------------
Ralph heard the echo of the pounding, the sounded distorted by the liquid the sight blurred for a few moments as the other tube shattered. More sounds distracted the wolf’s ears. Garbled voices and a piercing siren in the distance. The low rumble of the fox’s voice drew his attention. Finally he could see his fellow monster. And the word, though distorted, was clear. Here was an ally and any help to get out of that tube was welcome. He smacked his pawed hand on the glass, causing tiny cracks to form. A greeting and a declaration that the hated glass prison would not hold him captive for much longer.

Same! There's so many different aspects to the games and it can be as complex or as simple as you're willing to look. I do intend to get back into my deep dives on the media inspirations for the monsters and other aspects of the games as well as a post regarding another cancelled game that seemed like it was trying to add some freshness to the formula. I also want to get back to RPing, but it's difficult when I'm one of the few people rping in this tiny fandom.
As a fellow fan of the Rampage series
I myself have had thoughts on ways to explore the aftermath of the monster rampages. Be it point and click adventure style, or just in text form, exploring the destroyed cities, maybe finding half-mutant monsters or monsters that still have their human minds instead of their monster minds.
Since such a bodily change would cause a personality split that you just would never be able to recover from. Even if the monsters did hide away as humans they would still hear the monster self in their minds, whispering, begging, demanding to be set free and rampage once more. Especially with there being 40 monsters, plenty of opportunity between them to make new ones via other methods.
Of course I do enjoy the fun monster chaos and destruction that comes with the games and the fun urge to wreck everything with no regrets/mercy.

Glad to see a fellow fan. A lot of interesting ideas for storytelling here. While I portray the monster side of the mutated humans as more integrated/urges than split personalities, much of what you mentioned holds true for my personal interpretations of the characters.
Oh, absolutely! It's a great stress reliever and you can indulge your most aggressive instincts in a safe manner.

I don't know if this is the right place to say this, but if you get a message from my Discord account saying that I've accidentally reported you for scams/fraud, it isn't me. I've just become the victim of a scam that everybody but me knew about, but just in case I wanted to warn everyone
If they give you the account of a support person, don't go there. Don't talk to them.

ScumLabs Employees Profiles: Dr. Vector
youtube
Video by BlueberryBurrito
Relevant section: 2:16 to 2:36
Bio: Dr. Vector was brought in to reassure Mr. Z and the ScumLab Board of Directors with a solution to the monster problem: shrinking and cryogenically freezing them into Cryo-Tube containers. He went on to explain that he had the Cryo-Tubes hidden in buildings throughout the world, believing the chance of them being found to be “highly unlikely.”
Cryo-Tube Diagram
Once it became clear that some of the monsters had escaped from their Cryo-Tubes and were an active threat, Dr. Vector began piloting various assault vehicles to take down the monsters himself.
Example of Monster being unlocked from finding and opening Cryo-Tube:
youtube
Video by Jakob Svensson
Relevants section: 0:04-00:11
His arrogance was further demonstrated by the taunts he shouted during those battles. One particular taunt was revealing:”I created you, you ungrateful beast!”, implying he was involved with the creation of Scum Soda. Whether mutation of humans was part of a secret plan of his or an unintended side effect of his work is unknown.
Dr. Vector’s fate following the destruction of the Scum Blimp in New York City is unknown. However, given that he survived the destruction of the prior assault vehicles, it’s reasonable to assume he may have survived the final battle.

As much fun as the Rampage games are, it’s sad to see how the original creators became less involved with the series and were screwed over in terms of recognition.
From an interview with Brian Colin:
It’s also sad how Jeff Nauman has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes his contribution as programmer:
https://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/ct-ent-rampage-creator-0412-story.html
This article goes into the history behind the game (most of which I’ve already covered) and what the developers did afterwards. It really sucks that Jeff Nauman got shafted as far as being called for a cameo in the film, but maybe it might’ve been for the best, given how the scene where Brian Colin made a cameo was ultimately left on the cutting room floor, despite many new articles hyping up his small appearance.

This 2022 interview video goes into detail regarding various aspects of the development of Rampage arcade and Rampage World Tour along with other games Brian Colin designed. It's mostly old information, though there are some cool tidbits.
youtube
33:21 Apparently while developing the story for Rampage World Tour, Dr. Betty Veronica was intended to be Eustace DeMonic's daughter. Nothing in the game itself indicates any relationship besides her speaking on the phone with him at some points, indicated by the music from his cutscenes. She may even be speaking with him the whole time as opposed to anyone else in her phone cutscenes. That would certainly explain her authority telling either Eustace or some other employee to clean up a toxin due to its unknown effects (in reference to the V.E.R.N. mutation) and why she's being made privy to information about secret weapons as she's the CEO's daughter.
51:59 Rampage 3D: the unmade Rampage World Tour sequel concept. This one is interesting, though I feel like it would've been better as its own property. It's still more creative than simply adding new characters though, even if I do love all the various new characters that got added over the years.
54:27 Brian offered up story ideas for the Rampage movie, only to be turned down. Which sucks but not surprising.
55:22 Brian talks about filming his cameo, meeting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on the set of the Rampage movie and going to the film's premiere, finding out his cameo was cut from the film and a mention of his interview in the DVD extras. Even if the cameo was cut, Brian was basically treated like royalty from the sound of it and that's saying something compared to how many other creators are treated when adaptations of their properties are made.
58:56 Brian's thoughts on how the film was faithful in spirit to his game stories. He makes a fair point, I'll admit.
59:26 Brian gushes about Dwayne being a Rampage fanboy. It's cute and I'm glad they got to meet.

RAMPAGE!
Fan art of my spin of a more game accurate “humans turn into monsters”.
Lizzie, Ralph and George for the 1st film. For the sequel, Boris, Ruby and Curtis.
1st image, Left to right:
Lizzie: Your average teenager who regularly goes to the gym to work out. Is a total delinquent who enjoys vandalism. On of her hobbies is owning various reptiles and lizards as her pets. Her exposure to the chemical happens after she is bitten by one of her pet reptiles. Crossing her DNA w/ that of a lizard. For her design, like the original game, I looked at the Ymir (“20 Million Miles To Earth” w/ effects aka the alien by Ray Harryhausen) for inspiration. Along w/ old depictions of dinosaurs, TriStar’s Godzilla, Spider-Man’s “The Lizard” character, and her tail based off the stegosaurus thagomizer. Ralph: A “lone wolf”, who enjoys drinking beer, eating, and stoning out on weekends w/ the company of his lovable husky. Works as a part-time trucker. Lives far out in the woods. Gets a face full of dog kisses before he is exposed to the chemicals that cause his transformation into a giant mutant wolf. I looked to the classic Universal horror, “The Wolf Man” along w/ the many other werewolves of film to find inspiration. In the end, it more or less just looks like the 2018 film but w/ more human posturing. : /
George: He is a rather troubled preteen with issues involving his anger. Is regularly harassed at school as they find his outbursts amusing. Regularly goes to school counseling for it w/ Davis Okoye, a former US Army Special Forces soldier (Dwayne Johnson’s character). His transformation into a simian-like creature occurs during school the day after being exposed to the chemicals. When designing him, I chose to mix the gorilla-ness of his appearance w/ other primates such as monkeys. As well as the elusive Bigfoot. Another one being his design from “Rampage: Total Destruction”. Which looks the most human; facially anyways, of all the designs. 2nd image, not sure of their backstory but perhaps they were previous test subjects that get loose or whatever.

Well, was not as productive as I hoped to be while my family was visiting but they're away so I can do stuff again. This was more suggestion than request I suppose, but it's from last year when I started posting on Newgrounds. Someone said something like "Why not do something from the games?" on my Movie Lizzie picture. Problem is my idea would need me to be a much better artist with a solid handle on three point perspective so I just toned it down to a more boring view and I thought it might be fun to try and make it look a little like the old game itself.

Thanks for understanding and for the encouragement! :)
have you ever considered writing any rampage fanfic? the ao3 rampage tag could really use some good stuff in it
I have pondered the idea at times. I don't know if I would have the energy because of having to do everything myself versus with other people. I could do it, no doubt, but it'd have to be at a time where I had the time and energy and really had a story worth putting a lot of effort into.
