Books on Libby have started disappearing.

My friend pointed it out first, and then I started noticing too. Why would books that multiple libraries definitely, 100% had digital access to a couple of months/weeks/days ago disappear?

Amazon is getting exclusive rights to them.

Ebooks that the public library once had digital copies of are now only available through Amazon. Audible boasts on their covers about Audible-exclusive audiobooks that did not used to be Audible-exclusive. Entire series and collections are disappearing overnight.

Keep your eyes on the privatization of media and your libraries.

DC is the Wild West My Guy

I'm making this post mainly cause I see a lot of random posts by people in the DC fandom constantly talking about why a ship doesn't make since or is wrong or anything like that. And, I just think the fandom needs a quick reminder that if ANY canon universe says 'fuck the canon we do what we want' it's DC.

They have canon universes where basically every ship you could think of exist. They have universes where characters are vastly different ages. Anyone know Helena Wayne aka Huntress? Batman and Catwoman's kid? Well, what if I told you that she was originally just another superhero who was actually the same age as Batman and Catwoman and had a thing for The Question back in the animated Justice League series?

Anyone recall Dick and Starfire's kid Mar'i? Well, in the current canon she either doesn't exist or is like a toddler while Damian is nearly eighteen, but in another canon they literally got married.

Anyone know Raven? Well, in the newest canon she's the same age and Damian, and they might have dated, but literally in 2003 she was the same age as Dick and Starfire. Which would mean, even if we're going with the oldest animated canon she would be like in her late twenties when Damian was fucking thirteen.

So, with all this knowledge, I ask people; why does it matter if in the current canon Jon is an adult and Damian is a teenager, why CAN'T fans do what the literal canon does all the time, and say 'fuck it', I want them to be teens together and in love?

Damian and Jon aren't the healthiest couple? Well, neither are Batman and Catwoman who have broken up more times than I can count for crime related reasons, or Batman and Talia. One of which is a literal murder just like Damian. Or maybe we forgo the unhealthy relationships and just go to the universe where Batman and Wonderwoman happily got married, because Bruce successfully overcame his trauma in theraby?

Maybe Damian's not gay? Well, guess what, Wonderwoman wasn't bi-twenty some years ago, but here we are. Neither was Catwoman or Harley Quin or Ivy. Nor was Tim bi or Bernard gay who was literally on the hunt for fucking cougars when he first showed up.

My point is, as someone who has seen a LOT of different CANON interpretations of these characters. If you're gonna call certain shippers 'pedos' because the canon interpretation of a ship has an age gap then the DC writers must also be 'pedos' because Damian was once with Raven who should be twenty years older than him. Or, because Helena should be like thirty years younger than The Question. Or hell, because more than once Batman was the affair partner of his seventeen year old son's sixteen year old girlfriend. Anyone remember Barbara and Batman from the Killing Joke or the animated series?

P.S I recently got a comment on this post that made me want to clarify something VERY important. I am not trying to throw hate at any particular ship be it Damirae, Damian x Mar'i, Batman x Catwoman or Batman x Talia, etc. I am just trying to make a point about fiction being flexible. Please do not come on this post with the intention of making anyone feel bad for their opinions and for having fun with the source material. I support any ship, story change, or anything of the sort people want to make in a fandom. And, I am truly sorry if my post made anyone think otherwise.

I am super against light pollution, and have been for decades

but I am also super annoyed by the way it's framed as "without light pollution you can see how beautiful the night sky is" way more prominently than it's framed as "hey, did you ever stop to think of how much energy/resources/money are literally wasted by having so much light shine up into the sky?"

so people get the idea that light pollution can only be remedied by eliminating all night-time light, which would make being outside at night very inconvenient, instead of by making night-time light shine only on the ground where, y'know, the people who need it are

Listen, if a Bad President can come in and take away our rights and we're dependent on a Good President replacing them in four years to give us back our rights, then we do not have any rights.

If politicians can take or distribute them, then they're not "inalienable" and they're not "rights."

We don't have inalienable rights we have conditional privileges, divvied out according to the whims of whoever currently holds the reins.

And if we want to have actual rights, then we must build a system in which no one has the power to take them away to begin with.
