Ren death... a sort of analysis ?

I think Ren died because he wanted to go back to the time before his life changed and lost Nana... Their relationship. Both of their happiest times were when they were sharing that little apartment.

Making him die here at full speed as he see a little back cat (I guess you could read that as bad luck too ? Like Nana actually was his curse even tho he loved her so much) makes me think that he was escaping more than the paparazzis but just that life that he couldn't stand without drugs. He wanted so bad to go back to that version of Nana he used to know and be happy with... more than trying to fix Trapeness or make it work.

He had his own pride too as a musician but he really loved Nana. And so did she. They just couldn't find a way to make it work as professionals

The sacrifices he had to make were too big and he couldn't stand it, and stand that there was no coming back when it comes to Nana's pride and pain no matter what he did.

He died because he couldn't really go on with the choices he kept making and be with her

Ren’s death: a “back to basics”

I don’t know if someone else have noticed this, but in some way Ren’s death is like a “back to basics”:

- He died crashing into his old apartment, that apartment which was so important for him since he considered it as his starting point. He spent his childhood and adolescence there, he lived there happily with Nana for a year. There are a lot of memories in that place and he wanted to return there with Nana when they both would have stopped their careers.

- He died thinking about Nana. Despite he was going to fetch Reira to try to protect Trapnest, deep in his heart his strongest desire was to meet Nana, the woman he left three years before for Trapnest. I think his heart, until the end, had always wanted to put Nana above anything, but his head and reason were putting Trapnest over Nana. This is the conflict that consumed him until the end.

- He died while on the radio they were about to play “Blast”, the first single of Black Stones. Blast has been his first serious band (he himself admitted that Brute weren’t so willing to play seriously), they had good times together and thanks to Blast he had the opportunity to start his relationship with Nana. He felt really bad when he left them for Trapnest, he still considered himself a traitor.

I don’t know what was Ren’s real intention before he died, if he wanted to remain with Trapnest or if he was committed to what he told Takumi the night before (so that he wanted to quit the band), if he wanted to play songs for Nana or not. But anyway it’s curious that his death has ben “accompanied” by all the things that were so important for him before he left all of them for Trapnest. I like to think it’s the sign that what he has always really wanted from the bottom of his heart was what he actually already had in that small town.
