Rewatching roti, came to just say that Scott is fussy enough to not like peperoni on his pizza but will willingly eat dirt.

Back on another banger I truly believe that the most recent reboot cast come out the best from derailment and flanderisation (for a cast that appears in more than one series).

Which is kinda surprising to me since roti only had one season and only a select few return, while the reboot has everyone return for the second.

When you count it out I believe that 4.5/13 get derailed/flanderised compared to. 0.5/16. For the reboot.

I don’t have anything else to say if people want more I can elaborate all I’m gonna say is I was CONVINCED they were gonna pull a DJ on Damien for them to INSTEAD pull more of an action/wt Lindsay with him so im happy.

The guy alliance from season one (not to be mistaken with team men of roti) is ONE OF the most derailed and flanderised groups of characters in tdi only rivalled by the all stars final 5, team Amazon, and coderra actually there’s probably more but I need to get on with my point.

Every character in that alliance was either derailed because of the fans or was derailed and then reflected by the fans, or both. Actually they’re all both, except DJ who is only really applicable to the last.

We see Owen go from being a pretty average teenage boy who does have a bit of an abundance of gross and over exaggerated humour, but is still mature enough and has enough humour outside of “haha I fart and I am fat”, to just being “haha I fart and I am fat and also im stupid now and suck at everything despite making final 5 twice and winning the first season”

Geoff, who I will never stop complaining about, had a well executed character arc that related to his relationship and his character. But because people didn’t like him in action they made him “dumb stupid himbo” and nothing more in RR as an attempt to “rectify” this

DJ. Sigh. I actually get sad when I think about DJ. DJ went from being a kind person, who was never ashamed to show his more vulnerable side through hobbies, interests and behaviour in challenges, which did make him seem a rather wimpish, but still had a back bone and some courage, and was very similar to Geoff and Owen in their humour and ridicule of characters like Harold, but still was able to make friendships and be a genuinely cool guy. To. Crying and screaming and shouting every five seconds and being a pussy who’s now obsessed with animals despite it not being his main character trait, and also yeah he just sucks now he’s bad at everything just put him down at this rate. Yeah DJ hasn’t had a good season since island.

And Duncan. Who. Is a conundrum. Who, after the fans decided to ignore all his sexism and worse traits, the show decided to as well, to make him more likeable and Courtney less likeable. And then when that wasn’t enough they decided to “hey what if we made him so fucking annoying and constantly caring about his bad boy reputation and fucking over both girls in two completely different ways and just being a fucking cunt and sucking” sorry getting a bit opinionated. But all he does is care about being a bad boy, and doing things that just. Dare I say make him come off as a pick me. Also island and action Duncan wouldn’t cheat on his girlfriend but that’s for another post.

No character from the guys alliance was spared and they all suck now thanks to it. I guess Owen and Geoff are still fine since it’s just RR for them but it really sucks how all 4 of them were ABSOLUTELY butchered.

* also this is a last minute note and just coincidence but all of their eliminations (well last couple of episodes in Duncan’s case) tie to their eventual just downfall as characters; DJ getting eliminated for being a pussy. Geoff being a non confrontational nice guy in his, and Owen loosing out on the million for a fat joke in gwens ending. And then Duncan in Geoffs episode being shown that he’s all bark and no bite to then have that. Amped up to the max.

So roti pilled i sometimes forget that gen 1 exists. And that people only care about gen 1. And that people don’t like roti. And that I’m the only one who when thinking of a tdi cast thinks of roti first.

Key piece of flanderistation or whatever you wanna call what happened in AS was is the voices. I could yap all I want about this however I’d rather use physical proof so here take this xx.

I may just be going crazy and no one else can hear this but. I need to enlighten people. This is also genuinely one of my biggest AS pet peeves as like half of the characters sound insufferable.

Also this took me too long if it’s flops. I’m killing myself.

Peakest mutual @crazyypie said it would’ve been funny if Chris kept insisting and wishing they roti-ers where exactly like the first gen (where he believed (and it kinda did) peaked) and expects certain characters to say stuff that their gen 1 counter part would and getting mad when they don’t live up to what he wanted and I think that’d have been funny

one thing i wish roti did differently is make more callbacks to season 1. like that season is supposed to be a return to where it all began and the only thing they had was the same setting but worse. the new teams having to do challenges the s1 campers did wouldve been so fun. i guess theres an issue of it being really repetitive and too easy for the new contestants because its all stuff theyd already be familiar with but IDK. them doing the challenge where they had to stay in the forest overnight or chefs boot camp wouldve been so fun. especially if they had phobiafactor UGHH like challenges that gave insight into the characters but whatev
