So here we are, just about one year into hormone replacement therapy.  It’s been a wild, wacky journey so far, but I really have to say that I’ve been loving every second of it.  There’s such a sense of relief and freedom that comes with choosing to not be complacent.

Telling myself “I’m fine with being male” kept me from unlocking this new level of happiness for so long.

To anyone who’s been questioning or unsure about something you want in life, I encourage to experiment. 

Give it a try.

Sure, you might find out whatever the endeavor may be isn’t for you in the end, but that’s ok!  That just means that you took another step in your journey to find what is for you.

Don’t be complacent, don’t be satisfied.  “Fine” is okay, but only for a while. 

We only have one life to live, I encourage you to make it as fun and worthwhile as possible.

people genuinely behave like conservatives erupt into applause when a trans man comes out, as if they're cheering and going "YES! more men! FUCK women!"

they do not see us as men, y'all. WHAT reality is this attitude based in, because it's not this one.

conservatives do not see trans men as men. conservatives are not happy that there's one more man- they are pissed off because all they see is as "failed woman", "tainted woman", "woman in man's clothing" or "a woman pretending to be a man". they are mad because we aren't women anymore. they are actually pissed the fuck off that a 'woman' transitioned and is no longer a 'woman'. we're also viewed as "perverted queers trying to corrupt children," on the flip side of the coin but never men. stop acting like conservative men are frothing at the mouth excited to welcome trans men into the upper echelons of cisheteronormative patriarchy. they want us dead. snap out of it.

It's actually pretty ridiculous how some of you guys treat trans men. They're both somehow an aggressive man taking man poison and a hysterical woman to y'all. "I could never be a man" yea doofus, human beings are different, doesn't mean you shouldn't have empathy for them.

Some of you know you're trans but refuse to evolve your brain past a 4th graders' understanding of gender.

And also if you're not a trans man, and don't talk to trans men, maybe nobody needs to know your opinion on trans men.

people talking about "lesbian rights" going "U CAN'T BE A TRANSMASC/TRANS MEN LESBIAN THAT'S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE YOU ARE THREATENING ALL OF THE LESBIANS AROUND U!!!!!!!" meanwhile i was at the library earlier and saw one of the staff members with a shaved head had a water bottle with a sticker saying "cultivate lesbian JOY!" and so i decided to go "hey nice i'm a lesbian too!" and that person & the transfem next to them both erupted with joy. nobody got mad about my beard. nobody got mad about how deep my voice is. those two, who are very used to seeing me there as that's where i print labels for my job, were overjoyed to see another lesbian.

i didn't get 20 questions. i didn't get "your voice is deep are you a MAN????" nobody bitched about my facial hair. nobody got mad that a person passing for a cis man at the time said it was a lesbian. instead i received nothing but joy, the others giggling and saying that we were the Lesbian Corner. nobody got mad, there was nothing but joy. a transmasc lesbian & a transfem lesbian shared the exact same joy and it bothered no one. no fighting. NONE. no being mad about my appearance or my voice. this is what lesbian community is REALLY about. diversity among lesbians. accepting lesbians no matter how they look, sound, or what their gender is.

this is the spirit of lesbianism, not getting angry when someone is a lesbian "wrong".

Hot take, but cis people have gender identities. They aren't the gender they identify as because of their genitalia or what their birth certificate says. They're only cis because they identify with a gender and it happens to match their government documentation. Cis men aren't men because they're "obviously" men for having a penis. They're men because they identify as men. It's the self-identification that dictates this, not any other factor, even for cis folks. And we should be framing it this way. A cis man identifies as a man and a cis woman identifies as a woman. There is no automatic or inherent gender.

A few years ago a roommate abruptly decided to move out to live with her boyfriend, and I ended up spending half a year sharing an apartment with someone I had never met before: an Egyptian girl with very limited English.

She was confused by my appearance and asked me “boy or girl?” It took me a while to understand what she was saying, but eventually she got the point across, and I told her that I was a girl. She seemed unsatisfied, and I explained that I was transgender. Unsurprisingly, she didn’t know the word.

We ended communicating by typing our respective sentences into Google Translate. Unfortunately, whatever the Arabic word for “transgender” is, it wasn’t a word she knew either. Eventually I ended up typing in “I used to be a boy but it made me unhappy so I decided to be a girl.” She stared at it for a moment then asked “You are happy now?” I said yes, and she smiled and looked thoughtful.

A couple hours later she came up to me and said “You and me, we are sisters,” and gave me a hug. “You say you are girl, you are girl.”

I come back to this blog to start talking about gay stuff, I realized my last post was Exactly the day my boyfriend and I got together, and I haven't posted anything until now
