The Great Hunger in 1845 - 1852 can’t actually be blamed entirely on the potato blight, there was plenty of food in Ireland that could have - and should have - been distributed amongst the population, but the British kept exporting all of it: peas, butter, cattle, wheat, etc.

They sent in soldiers to guard the ships full of food from the starving men, women and children and interfered with other countries trying to send aid.

It should serve as no surprise then, that Ireland has been so resolutely on the side of Palestine, when Israel is withholding food, aid and other essentials from being delivered to Gaza.

If you can empathize with the great hunger - and you SHOULD - you need to be able to empathize with the people of Gaza.

I did a lot of work at school today, managed to do quite a bit of essay writing! I think I should start posting these in the morning so I can write what I wanna get done.

For the rest of the day it’s a chill revision session:

Complete 1 essay plan for this is England

Start putting together all the essay questions I need too.

I am also going to sort two birthday presents out I haven’t yet, but it’ll all work out. I haven’t spent much time outside lately so that’s my goal for this week. When it gets warmer I do intend to start studying in my garden or the forest which sounds nice especially if I bring a picnic :3

I’ve finally finished my film coursework and I’m genuinely so happy 😭 so far I have 33/40 which is an A but hopefully my write up gets the grade higher.

I've actually done some thinking lately and I don't hate Taylor Swift anymore. It would be torture to live in a panopticon. It would be torture to be larger than life, "too big to hang out", and know that people see you as a brand first and person second. It would be torture to live in world where people consider incels posting deepfake porn to Twitter 'social justice'. It would be torture to be unable to write a song about your ex without getting accused of slander.

Imagine hearing people tell you your pain isn't real because your brand isn't subversive enough.

And she's not allowed to leave that box. Ed Sheeran tried to experiment with his art and he was bullied back into his box. Billie Eilish is called a failed woman for wearing comfortable clothes and a whore for wearing less. Jojo Siwa isn't allowed to seems too childish but she can't seem too grown up without being edgy and conformist at the same time. Britney Spears shaved her head to stop people from treating her like an object, so we treated her like an asylum patient.

An artist can't just be an artist.

Nothing has changed in this celebrity culture since Britney Spears. How many people have to go 'crazy', overdose or kill themselves before we stop treating them like circus animals?

I got my exam days wrong!! It’s fine it works in my favour it’s now 30 days until my exam! I have had a busy few days, written a lot of essays and done planning for exam prep. It feels weird how fast it’s all coming to an end. I had work today, and as I was an hour early I just decided to work in the woods before my shift started. I thought it was so pretty and although it was bloody freezing it was still a nice experience lol. I also thought I’d start posting things I do outside of study?? Just bc I think we need to incorporate a balance into our study routines so here’s the plan for today :3

I think it's so wild that Swifties think they can sit here talking about Taylor's life and decisions 24/7 and she can have no say in it? She isn't allowed to have thoughts and opinions about us talking about her all the time? She isn't allowed to make art about how that makes her feel? Britain consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

My mother is Scottish, her parents were both scottish, so we’re their parents and their parents and so on. You want to look my mother in the eyes and tell her she has no culture?

That different sports and songs, though only sports and songs, that carry great meaning, stories, myths, beliefs and history all mean nothing?

while you can absolutely start with studio or reformer classes, you can also do pilates routines on youtube! i recommend move with nicole and dansique fitness. if you want to get your cardio in as well, i absolutely recommend eleni fit. her workouts are some of the best i’ve ever tried!

🎀 personal tips

keep your core in mind. core strength is a major benefit of pilates because each movement requires at least a mild amount of core work to keep your body stable, so do your best to keep the engagement throughout.

start slow. pilates movements can take a while to fully understand and it can take a while to build the mind-body connection, so don’t push yourself too far in the beginning. your coordination will improve over time!

don’t underestimate it! while the movements are generally slower than other types of exercise, you will work your muscles just as much and in a way they may not have been worked before. sometimes i even find pilates more difficult than hiit or weights!
