The Princess Royal this afternoon attended "DNA Day" at Illumina Centre, 19 Granta Park, Great Abington, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mrs. Julie Spence).

Her Royal Highness later opened the National House Building Council's Apprenticeship Training Hub at Histon Football Club, Bridge Road, Impington, Cambridgeshire.

The Princess Royal, Patron, the Royal College of Midwives, subsequently visited North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, Hinchingbrooke Hospital Maternity Unit, Parkway Hinchingbrooke, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

Her Royal Highness, Colonel, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), later visited The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Hyde Park Barracks, Knightsbridge, London SW7.

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of London, this evening attended an Institute of Commonwealth Studies Reception at the Senate House, Malet Street, London WC1, to mark its Seventy Fifth Anniversary and was received by Ms. Roxanne Zand (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness, Colonel, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), was represented by Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles (former Commander, Household Cavalry) at the Memorial Service for General Sir Richard Vickers (former Commanding Officer, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons, and former Equerry to The late Queen) which was held at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1, this afternoon.

The Princess Royal, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, this morning visited the Cavalier Centre, Bradley Farm, Farley, Much Wenlock, and presented The King’s Awards for Voluntary Service, having been received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire (Mrs Anna Turner).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Save the Children UK, this afternoon visited the Lyth, Ellesmere, birthplace of Eglantyne Jebb, and was received by Major General John Crackett (Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire) and subsequently visited the Jebb Memorial Garden at Cremorne Gardens, Ellesmere, and was received by Mrs Diana Flint (Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire).

Hanging of The Crown Prince’s Order of the Elephant escutcheon In connection with a private tour of The Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Palace in Hillerød for HM The King, HRH The Crown Prince and HM Queen Margrethe, The Crown Prince’s Order of the Elephant escutcheon was hung in the Chapel of the Royal Danish Orders of Knighthood in the Palace Church.

Inauguration of the marked Virketvolden Rundt hiking route in Hannenov Forest on Falster On 22 April 2024, HM The Queen participated in the inauguration of the marked Virketvolden Rundt hiking route in Hannenov Forest on Falster. The Danish Nature Agency's forester Jane Skov Lind welcomed The Queen and introduced the new hiking route. The Queen walked the 5 km together with selected employees from the Danish Nature Agency and Mayor of Guldborgsund Municipality Simon Hansen. A representative from Dansk Vandrelaug Storstrøm also took part. Along the way, they talked about nature and the history of Virketvolden - and about the work to secure longer hiking routes in the area. The 5 km long route winds through Hannenov Forest on Falster, and on the hike, The Queen had the opportunity to walk among crooked old oak trees and through a more wild and varied nature, where the Danish Nature Agency is creating more habitats for animals, plants and fungi. The new hiking route is part of the nationwide project 'Denmark's Nature Trails', which creates marked routes across the country.

The King on St George’s Day has made appointments to the orders of the Garter (the Duchess of Gloucester), the British Empire (the Queen), the Bath (the Prince of Wales) and the Companions of Honour (the Princess of Wales).

All are effective from today, 23 April.

THE ORDER OF THE GARTER

His Majesty The King has been graciously pleased to appoint four new Companions to the Order of the Garter. The Companions are:

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester, GCVO, DStJ, CD, to be a Royal Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach, GBE, KCB, DL, to be a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Right Honourable the Lord Kakkar, KBE, to be a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Lord Lloyd-Webber to be a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

THE MOST EXCELLENT ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE

His Majesty The King has been graciously pleased to appoint Her Majesty The Queen to be Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Previous Grand Masters have included: His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (1953-2021), Her Majesty Queen Mary (1936-1953) and His Majesty King George Vl as The Prince of Wales (1917-1936).

The Order of the British Empire was established by King George V in 1917 to honour a broader cross section of society, both military and civilian.

THE MOST HONOURABLE ORDER OF THE BATH

His Majesty The King has been graciously pleased to appoint His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, K.G., K.T., A.D.C., to be Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath.

Previous Great Masters have included: His Majesty The King as The Prince of Wales (1974-2022), His Royal Highness Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester (1942-1974) and His Royal Highness Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (1901-1942).

The Most Honourable Order of the Bath was established bv Kina Georae I in 1725 althouah it is believed to oriainallv date back as far as the eiahth centurv. It is awarded to members of the military or civil service for exemplary service.

THE ORDER OF THE COMPANIONS OF HONOUR

His Majesty The King has been graciously pleased to appoint Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, GCVO, to be Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour.

This is a new appointment.

The Order of the Companions of Honour was founded by King George V in 1917 to recognise outstanding achievements in the Arts, Sciences, Medicine and Public Service.
