my fav show got renewed for season 3, so here are top 3 reasons to watch will trent:

3. a complex female lead, who is v good at her job, doesn't shave under her arms and it really makes weirdos on the internet uncomfy. i think that's beautiful.

I'm happy to report that Will Trent (the show) didn't forget about Faith Mitchell's diabetes. In fact, they talked about it in a fun and -- I think? -- realistic way. Her work colleague (friend?) kept reminding her to eat a cracker.

A simple, one might say "throw away" line, that changes nothing with regards to the story (it's not Checkov's gun for eFFF's sake, you don't have to use disability/illness for drama!), but adds one more dimention to the character.

The show didn't forget about Will Trent's (character) dyslexia. Obviously, as this is one of his defining characteristics (and in his case it works, but it's not Checkov's gun either). I love how they made Will evolve from the shy, secretive agent of Season 1, into this person, who is... proud of who he is. And look, he has assistive device now! (and the device seems to have a personality, whut?) (it's not real personality, but an emulation, of course (op is scared of AIs)).

Next. The show creators chose (and they said it in some interview) to not have Angie spiral toward her addiction. For one, that kind of story has been told a million times and it's so repetitive. Besides, I think they are too aware. IDEK. Anyway, here she is, still sober, still fighting and still being Angie. Oh, and she had a talk with her sponsor, so, that counts.

And last but first in my thoughts, Ormie. He still has that nervous energy I associate with PTS, or whatever kind of remnant of his years spent downrange. He can't sit still, he talks fast, he barges into rooms narrowly avoiding knocking another person off their feet. Then there's that wild ride with Angie.

Talk adrenaline junkie, if I ever saw one (or someone overreacting after a high-stakes, stressful situation where guns were fired near his kids, y'kno.. )

To sum it up, I think Will Trent is still doing a fine job with representation of chronic illness / disability / neurodivergence. They don't have any visibly disabled characters, but there's always room for growth.

Sophie is worried about Parker, so she follows, she can't resist the lure. She always caught them, worked them out of a tough spot - and Parker's her daughter, in all the ways that count. Why wouldn't she try and help her?

Breanna trusts Parker, she's always ready to spring into action for her. But she has her own ideas, she's eager and excited and wants to change the world and she's looked up to Parker her whole life. Parker is her idol, she can do no wrong, and it unnerves her a little bit when she acts differently to how she expects.

Harry knows to give people time, it's the Dad instincts, so he let's her be until she asks for help. He let's her figure herself out, because isn't that what people do? He's figuring himself out, he's not going to begrudge her from doing the same thing. He respects her enough to make the choices she needs to make. He trusts her enough not to worry, even when he should.

Eliot 'I've got you back, no matter what' fucking Spencer. Whatever choice she makes, he just wants it to be the right one for her. He needs her to answer her own question, he can't answer it for her. But whatever it is, it's hers. He made his choices long ago, and he lives with that. He knows she'll carry it with her no matter what, but he knows how heavy that hangs around someone without anyone else to carry it. He's got her, always. (But still - he hovers. He worries about her. That's what he does)

And Hardison, even though he wasn't there on this job - he is never far from Parker's thoughts. His questioning throws Parker for a loop, why wouldn't it? The thing she thought she knew the best suddenly shifted on her, it would be enough to rattle anyone.

Parker never stopped believing in what they did, she just needed to find herself in the mythos everyone had around her, the crews, the work. "The Parker" changed, both by herself and with the people who love her. Her anger was always her guide, it's that just the game is different now. She looked back and the world had changed, and she changed with it, and she wasn't sure she recognised herself anymore.

But she's still there. She found the little girl she used to be and became the person she needed then.

I enjoy the contrast between the og leverage running joke of "hardison dies in plan m" (but we never go there) and then redemption where they are just. killing harry at the drop of a hat.
