We are so sorry to have missed Black History Month this year. We are working on some exciting new projects and deciding on the future of Urban Walls Brazil/World. In homage to Black History Month, we are posting “A Redenção de Cam” ( Ham’s Redemption ) from 1895, painted by Brazilian artist Modesto Brocos. The image reflects the controversial “whitening” ideology implemented in Brazil at that time. With this image we hope to bring attention to the importance of understanding and knowing your history. If we are to move forward and work on our racial problems, we have to confront the issues that have been swept under the rug, and not just forget them.
