POC-FRIENDLY PSDS, a masterlist by evansyhelp.
There are (150) links to POC-friendly PSDs that don’t whitewash darker skin tones under the cut. This is essentially an updated, more organised, and more accessible version of the ask I answered a while back and the tag I created afterwards, and I’ll be updating this list whenever I can. Please like or reblog this post if you find this useful, and don’t forget to like and reblog the original PSDs if you use them.

Dialogue Tags & Redundancy
Redundancy is not a favorable quality in writing. The verbs we use as part of our dialogue tags are often used with purpose. We’re trying to put the reader into the scene so they can hear exactly the tone of voice someone speaks with. Unfortunately, when paired with some punctuation marks, they can become silly and unnecessary.
There’s a reason we have all kinds of punctuation available to us. They each provide something for us. Question marks denote, well, questions; exclamations denote something of the tone and emotions of the character speaking; periods are the common-man’s mark that denote the ending of a sentence. Periods are inconspicuous where these others are much more attention-grabbing. Periods allow you to continue reading without interruption. Of course there are other kinds of punctuation, but these are the three we tend to use for dialogue, so I’ll stick with those for now.
“Get a grip!” Alice exclaimed.
Dialogue tags are great, but sometimes they are our worst enemies when trying to trim out the redundancy in our work. “Alice exclaimed,” in the above example is completely unnecessary because the exclamation point already tells us that. Same with “they asked” after a question–no kidding! In general, after a special punctuation mark at the end of dialogue, you won’t need a dialogue tag.
But Pear, how will they know who’s speaking? Scenes have a rhythm, a kind of back-and-forth to them between characters. The rest of your scene will put the line in context for you. Characterization throughout the piece will set up opinions and personality of the characters in a scene. Your word choice, tone, and pacing will help put it in context, too. Your line will also be couched in among other lines of narration and dialogue that may reference back to the line’s speaker.
At the bang on the door, Jared screamed. “Get a grip!” Alice slapped him.
Strategic placement of paragraph breaks will help do what a dialogue tag would. Paragraph breaks happen in a couple of ways, but it generally comes down to two things: a change of subject or a change in speaker. A line of dialogue doesn’t have to hang out on its own if the following action is performed by the same individual who spoke. Alice spoke, Alice then moved, and thus all Alice actions are part of one paragraph. If Jared had done something in between Alice speaking and Alice moving, he would have gotten his own paragraph:
At the bang on the door, Jared screamed. “Get a grip!” Jared reached for the light switch, his voice rising, rising until it petered out in the upper octaves. Alice slapped him. “Get it together.”
Dialogue and narration work together. You may want to include those dialogue tags, may even feel obligated to include them, but be sure that what you’re tagging needs it. You’ll hear it from me over and over: Trust your readers to put things together without you laying it out completely.

Marley Dias is frustrated with the lack of diversity in her reading curriculum. That’s why the 11-year-old started a campaign called #1000BlackGirlBooks, which collects and donates books in which black girls are the main characters.
“I was sick of reading about white boys and dogs,” Dias said. “And I told [my mom] I was going to start a book drive, and a specific book drive, where black girls are the main characters in the book and not background characters or minor characters.”
The goal is to collection 1,000 titles by February 11, 2016 when Marley and two fellow student organizers will travel to St. Mary, Jamaica to deliver the books and host a book fair. [via]

How to get those drafts done and stay stress free
In the roleplay community I frequently see people posting their high draft counts for threads they say have been their for months. Now this is not a job and no one is obligated to complete those drafts, but I wanted to give some advice on how you can clear out your drafts and get those plots moving forward. Please note this is an advice post, no one needs to follow this advice.
First of all, try not to take on more than you can handle. Drop things if you need too. But if you don’t take on more than you can handle you’ll be less likely to drop things. Sometimes it’s best to not make like for a starter posts if you already are feeling overwhelmed on a high draft count. Many make like for a starter calls when they don’t feel like tackling those drafts but doing this adds to your drafts. Like for a starter calls work best once you’ve completed drafts and want to take on some new things. If you really aren’t interested in doing drafts and really just want to do smaller stuff even put a limit on your starter call to stop from getting to overwhelmed.
Second, take some time to focus on your drafts. Go into your drafts and pick one and begin to write. Don’t worry about finishing your reply in one go. Write what comes to you and then save it and move onto another and work on that one. You can come back and add more later.
Avoid the dash when you do this because the dash is extremely distracting. If you can, I highly recommend writing replies somewhere else (like in a writing program). This keeps your focus on your replies and not on what’s happening on your dashboard. If listening to music helps you stay focused, do that too.
It also helps to not post completed replies immediately if you still have lots of drafts. Why? Say you have 45 drafts and you’ve just finished 5 of them and you then post those completed 5. Some people are very fast meaning you might very well be back at 45 drafts again within a day. Posting a few completed replies at a time like this will just keep your draft count at about the same number and you’ll end up feeling like you made no progress. I recommend building a queue or holding off on posting until you complete all drafts. Of course, there may be replies you want to get out immediately but it does help to keep most of them drafted until most are complete.
This is some advice I thought of giving. Again, this advice is just advice. It’s not an order. I’ve just noticed a lot of people in the community overwhelmed by their draft counts. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming. I believe we make it overwhelming by taking on too much and constantly adding more for ourselves to do. Following this method I have been very stress free when it comes to completing my drafts and you move forward with all plots at a steady pace. If this advice doesn’t work for you, then it doesn’t. If it does, I hope put into practice it helps to make your roleplaying more enjoyable and less stressful.

Anxiety attacks aren’t always hyperventilating and rocking back and forth
Anxiety attacks can take different forms, such as:
Unpredictable bouts of rage or irritability
Nit-pickiness (obsessive behavior, which may be a part of OCD), and even a hypersensitivity to disarray, chaos, or any sort of change
Fast-talking, stuttering, stumbling over words
Not talking at all
Sitting rigid, staring into space, almost seeming “zoned out”
Understanding the way our or other’s anxiety works can help to decrease the stigma and help to calm a person faster and get them out of that state. These are just a few, but it gives an idea of the range in which attacks can come.
