Hi! Would you be able to or with a help of modders out there to make either optional or default replacement walking styles that you converted a while ago? Not just for posing but actually gameplay walking. I would die to have one of my female sims walk in the feminine style.. arrgggh lol it would be awesome to have the option so some walk standard and then others can choose for them to walk in the new styles :))

Out of all the categories we can create for in TS3, modding is one of those I have the least experience with (meaning none whatsoever). So, all I can do is provide the original clips to experienced modders (the walking clips that I've uploaded are modified versions of the originals in both length and speed), though it might be more convenient and easy for them to get these animations straight from the source.

If I remember correctly this type of request has been disscussed before, so I've been looking through some of my fellow creators' feed for a while, but can't find their replies.

While I think default replacement walks are workable (but won't do them because I haven't worked with animations in this way before), I doubt we can have specific walk styles for specific characters in TS3. Although, maybe a mod where you can choose from the pie menu how a sim should walk might be possible, since sims can switch to the "walk of shame" and "stride of pride" styles when they have the corresponding moodlets. Though it may end up looking like a complete mess since sims would have to switch back to the game defaults every time they need to slide left/right, turn around, etc (which also have individual animations in the game files), unless you overhaul the whole thing. I don't know if it's worh it honestly, but again I don't know much about this matter.

So, I'll have to bother @thesweetsimmer111 or @twinsimming or any other modder out there who wants to shed some light over this whole change-how-our-sims-walk aspect; how much of it is possible and in which way. Thanks in advance, guys & sorry to take you from your amazing projects, even if it's just for a bit!

It's funny that you're asking about that series, as I was thinking about deleting it one day, when I'm free to focus on my sims accounts.

The main reason why I didn't continue the series is because I lost the save files for it when the motherboard on my old laptop fried (because of TS3, obviously...lol) and I wasn't able to recreate them. Also, my laptop at that time was pretty limited and I was running the game with only 3-4 expansion packs, carefully selected CC and no custom worlds. Reason why Shang Simla is posing as a village in a somewhat neighbouring country-ahem!-, a fact that always made me uncomfortable (so sorry about that!!!). But I really couldn't afford to force my machine back then, and when I did try, the thing burned.

Then, when I got my next laptop I started experimenting with CAW and CC creation and got hooked. So all my machinima plans went in the background.

Honestly, I would've loved to be able to finish it, as there was so much more to show, but it is how it is.

And if -although very unlikely at the moment- I decided one day to continue it, I would restart the whole thing. It really needs a more appropriate world, faster pace and better animations & shots.

Anyway, thanks for watching! I'm happy you enjoyed it so far (you have no idea how surprised I was receiving your ask, since nobody mentioned it in years) and sorry for not being able to give closure to my audience!

I've been playing some Disney Dreamlight Valley recently and I must say it's a good game, pretty engaging and well-made. Didn't expect to capture my attention like this. Quest-type of games don't usually grab me easily (I can't play Sims Medieval for long, without yearning for all the freedom we have in TS3), but this one did so far. Maybe it's because of the characters in the game...Or maybe it's the fact that you can edit the map however you want, which is a big plus.

Anyway, I fell in love with some designs (obviously, pft!) in this game.

Since I don't have the tools to extract meshes from DDV I decided to remake from scratch the clothing I liked. For TS3, obvs! Here's the result:

I wanted the ice gown to be more shimmery (the blue one), but since I like my stuff to be recolorable (and make full use of CASt) in TS3, there's a high probability it'll stay like this. Unless I opt for swatches, but there's the slimest chances for that to happen...

What still needs to be fixed on both dresses is the bone assignment at the base of the skirts as they clip with shoes when simmies are walking. Or recommend using invisible feet, if I can't solve this. We'll see...

*The textures are mine & (from) TS3, stencils from a site I'll credit in the upcoming post (roses, snowflakes).

**They were not easy to remake (actually each dress took a full week to complete - meshing them to look like the originals was pretty challenging, but texturing was on a whole new level of difficulty), yet I'm stubborn, lol.

***The two dresses (and whatever else I decide to make, if I'm inclined to) will be posted on Patreon under early access for 3 weeks (or 21-22 days).

Hi, RStarSims3, want to say your work on Custom-Content and conversions are great and keep up the good work. I have a few questions; Firstly, Regarding Custom-Content hair and default hair replacements, which are the best and would you recommend and why? Secondly, any future plans regarding Custom-Content and have you thought of doing default clothing replacement? Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Thank you for the nice words! I’m really happy you enjoy my work!🥰😘

Now, let’s get into it.

For custom content hair, I use a lot of IfcaSims’ stuff. I just love their retextures (I think the shininess and fluffiness are on point). This creator has also made default replacement textures for most of the in-game hairs, which granted I’m not using myself but I thought it was worth mentioning for people with lower specs on their PCs.

Other creators to check out are Rollo-Rolls, Nemiga, Plumdrops and Chazzy. They make good quality conversions and are mindful about polycounts & bone assignments.

Speaking of polycounts, most of EA hairs are under 10k. So if you find a hair at 30K, you’ll know it’s high-poly. It can still be used in game, but sparsely. In order to prevent lag it’s better to NOT have an entire town of sims wearing high-poly hairs.

And that takes me to the next point – Default replacement hairs:

I’m using default replacements mostly from Maryjanesims3, Agnelid and some from FirefoxSims3. All of these creators have made efforts to have their DFs look good, but also lower the polys in order to prevent lag as much as possible.

Choose just one DF for every in-game item. When using DFs from multiple creators you can get confused and place multiple DFs for the same item. And some creators have two or more versions of DFs for the same item, so be careful with that.

I’m also merging my default replacement hairs by expansion (one package for BG, one for Amb, one for LN and so on).

Expect the defaults to look wonky after the first load. This happens for all kinds of DFs, but it’s very noticeable on hairs. MaryJaneSims3 has provided a solution for this situation here.

Now, about my future plans regarding CC...well, to (try to) make more male and other age categories CC, but I'm always tripping and go back to creating for females. I also have some worlds in the making, among which is a TS4 remake, but I'll provide info about them at the right time.

I thought a lot about creating clothing DF and how I'd go about it, but I don't really have the time to start on that front too. Even conversions have been slow from me lately. I hope I can find some time in the future; at least for conversions, if nothing else.

Help Me Take My Account Back

Hi, this is Pi, Pitheinfinite, the founder of @pis3update and @pis3story & the joint founder of ts3creatorscave.

About a month ago, my original account @pitheinfinite got suspended by tumblr with no reason provided. I followed the protocol and filed my complaint but my patience got no reward. No response. Nothing At All.

It's time to take some real actions I think. Please help me by urging @staff to give my account back. Even though I've been on hiatus for quite some time and still don't have much time for the game or the community at the moment, I want to keep the place I've built for years, knowing that I always have a home here to go to.

Besides, my story sideblog pis3story, unlike pis3update, has only one member/admin, and will go down with my original account.
