how many autistics out there developed narcissistic traits or NPD due to their constant invalidation, trauma, abuse etc. from being autistic? the number is sadly but not surprisingly high.

am i the only one who believes the statement "self aware people with NPD don't exist/are a contradiction", but not in the way it's usually meant?

like yes, absolutely, people with NPD (as in the set of traits and behaviours that came from trauma and interfere with their relationships, daily lives etc.) can be self-aware and heal etc.

i believe the original statement in terms of psychiatry/the mental health system.

self-aware people diagnosed with NPD rarely exist is what i mean.

a lot of psychologists or psychiatrists will simply say "if you think you're narcissistic, you're not", dismiss you and charge $200.

"NPD" as a diagnostic term written on a paper, yes, vs NPD defined as that set of traits, nah.

and it just creates more difficulty for people with NPD as in the traits who wanna get help, etc.
