Ahmed (@ahmadresh) was planning to study photographic design at university, but the occupation has deprived him of his education. He and his family were living a comfortable house, but it was bombed and destroyed, and now they live in a tent.

Ahmed and I are both 19, but while I pack for university, he struggles to stay afloat, unable to continue his education and trying to stay alive amid genocide. He and his family need our help, so let’s help them!

This is how they eliminate the press in Gaza. They targeted our headquarters and our tools, and today they are targeting individuals, but that will not stop us from covering the crimes of this occupier, and we will continue to report this barbarity even if it costs death.

Today, I am trying to collect support to build my house, which was destroyed by the occupation, as well as to buy my family’s daily needs in light of the extremely high prices, and my inability to provide basic requirements. We are fighting to survive, and we do not know whether we will survive or return to this unjust world.

My next goal is 50k and I am working to achieve it by next Thursday. We ask for your support and attention to alleviate this injustice and great pain that is falling upon us.

the kids online safety act passed the u.s. senate.

long story short (for anyone who hadn't heard of this before) the kids online safety act, aka kosa, is a bill that will censor online content and resources for lgbtq+ matters, reproductive healthcare, activism (INCLUDING PALESTINE AND LIKELY OTHER CRISES GOING ON LIKE IN CONGO OR SUDAN), mental health, etc. everywhere--its effects likely won't be contained to just america.

today, july 30th, 2024, the senate passed it 91-3. it has officially moved to the house of representatives.

is this a pretty massive setback? yes. do you have every right to be scared, sad, angry, or whatever else about this happening? absolutely. but should you give up hope completely? NO!

even though kosa passed the senate, the house is on break/august recess at the moment. we have around an entire month to get emails, calls, and faxes in to house reps, maybe more depending on when they decide to vote on it.

should it pass the house and get signed into law, we still have a whole 18 months before it actually goes into effect. this is plenty of time for digital rights orgs (e.g. fight for the future, the electronic frontier foundation) and other groups that oppose it to file a lawsuit against it. even if, worst-case scenario, it flies through the house immediately after the recess ends, we can still fight this up to march 2026.

so, yes, remember what's at stake here, but also remember that it's not over yet. we lost a battle, not the war.

Hey gang, I'm pissed off that I've been recieving asks from scammers pretending to be Palestinians and I'm gonna tell you how to weed those suckers out

also so much people are falling for it so byeah, that also sucks, anyway

1. copy paste the whole ask and put it on the search bar

the search bar is shit for looking for tags BUT it will show you the exact ask post when you look it up word for word

Now if different blogs are sending the same ask word for word then that's definitely a scammer

1.1 search the url in the search bar and see if people confirms the account is a scam

2. The blog is less than a week old and/or reblogged a bunch of other Palestine related posts in the same day of it's creation

This has been age old advice on how to tell any scam blog in any context. Scammers fill their blogs with reblogs to make it look like they're a genuine tumblr user. Check the dates of all the posts. Usually they never make another post/reblog after they think the account is filled enough

3. When they say they're vetted without mentioning or linking who confirmed it

just like this person

and relating to point 2, this account and all the posts are two days old

3.1 The ask/post reads like a storybook because of the lack of info while trying so hard to make the story sound legit by adding dramatic words (from the above, "one day, as the bombs fell" "without insulin, my blood sugar levels soared" "as conflict raged around me")

4. Searching the name and not finding any info besides the tumblr blog

pretty suspicious if the person asking for help doesn't exist, don't it

4.1 The ask does not mention a name at all

and That's all the things I do to find out if an account is a fake, I hope you reblog because people should not be falling for scams like these and ending up NOT donating their money to real Palestinians, take care y'all

Ahmed @ahmedalnabeeh11, his brother Abedelrahman, and their family were displaced to Rafah following the destruction of their home by the occupation. They lost their father, their home, their jobs, and their possessions. They are now living in a tent, under bombs and the threat of IOF ground troops, in severe heat, with limited access to food and water.

To save their lives, they are trying to evacuate to Egypt. However, they lost everything, and the costs to begin the process of evacuating are extremely high.
