✨White Soul Wednesday!✨

A Brief History, continued ~

The Kingdom of Alset spans the entire continent, but that wasn’t always the case! It was forged through the efforts of a great many kings and queens, but the lives and deeds of most have passed beyond the memory of the common people, save for historians and some bards. One of the few still remembered is the Fifth King Yotozoren, who brought peace to the land being ravaged by storms of dragons raging for control of a priceless arcane artifact.

Over the course of this devastating conflict a third of the continent was blasted to ash, and carries the name in memory of the ruin that might have been brought to the whole of the realm, had the Fifth King’s peace not prevailed.

The Ashtoli ~

The desert sprawls across a wide margin of the continent, a memory of the desolation wrought by dragon’s fire. The people who make their homes there are hardy and proud of their efforts to endure, despite there being more temperate climates to call home.

Different tribes made their settlements in the various areas of the Ashtoli, from the blushing sands to the north-west, all the way to the mountainous steppes of the south and eastern border.

In the central crescent lays a great lake said to be the ancestral home of the Trunane craft, and it’s in the nearby settlement of Trenaich that a fateful confrontation takes place.

Deehl LeNast ~

A red-haired swordsman of the Ashtoli with green eyes, though the right is damaged and robbed of sight. Formerly a blacksmith’s assistant from Trenaich, Deehl yearned to experience other lands and cultures than just those of the desert, and fight his own battles rather than just equipping others. When he makes the decision to leave his tribe, it causes more conflict that he could have possibly imagined.

After departing his homeland, he became an adventurer who accompanied the Dunane sorceress Cerene Morova as she sought the means to save her magic from fading. Throughout their quest, the two became close partners, and over the course of their journey he assisted her in finding a key ritual to renew the Dunane arts, though the ritual cost Cerene her life as she became the Catalyst for the fire.

Currently Deehl is a titled hero known as the Savior of the Flame thanks to his part with the Catalyst’s journey; but despite his important status among pyromancers, he doesn’t care for the arcane or discussing his time with the Catalyst, preferring to focus on his jobs with his current guild Prism, rather than thinking about the past.

Age: 23

Hobbies: Map collecting, horse riding, & hiking

Truhka LeVan ~

A hunter of renown from the Ashtoli with unusual black hair and golden eyes, however the right is damaged and robbed of sight. Despite his unique appearance, Truhka is deeply respected as one of the elite warriors of Trenaich, and has led their fighters in more than one battle against bandit raiders and other tribes.

Though he could have taken a place amongst Trenaich’s tribal leadership, he preferred the humble life of guiding his people through action as a role model. He was often thought to represent the best aspects of Ashtolian honor, however an ill-fated confrontation with Deehl LeNast began a series of events that began to alter his village for the worse.

Truhka eventually chose to depart his homeland in pursuit of his former tribesman to make him answer for what happened the day of their encounter.

Age: 29

Hobbies: Leatherworking, map-making

Deehl and Truhka's story is just one of many Rhaya Nahl will encounter over the course of her journey! What other tales will she uncover on her quest?

✨White Soul Wednesday!✨

To kick off the first White Soul Wednesday, a glimpse into the world of White Soul, the Kingdom of Alset!

A Brief History~

The kingdom of Alset is rich in opportunity for the countless adventurers setting out on their own quests for glory and fortune! It spans the entirety of the continent, though it is currently fractured by both political and magical strife.

There are hamlets and villages all over the countryside, with some of the more well-known lining roads that guide travelers all over the kingdom, though some areas may be more peaceful than others. Alongside the natural landscape and beacons of civilization can be found strange areas known as Moments, zones where time loops back onto itself. It's thought that these distortions bloom due to the influence of a particular order of sorcerers, the leader of whom has seized control of the southern half of the kingdom - spanning from the edge of the great Ashtoli desert to the coast, by forging an alliance with one of the most powerful of the great dragons.

But though the realm is split politically, most common people aren't affected by that division, considering that the threat of open war is seemingly kept at bay by the fear of dragon's fire, for now.

The primary factions most are concerned with are their guilds, be they merchants or mercenaries or magicians. Each group seeks to carve out their own livelihoods, with magic connecting the people of Alset just as much as the roads do.

✨Onward to Alset!✨

Hello dearest readers!

With Riddle of Magic's lessons having come to an end, the time has come at last for me to return to the pages of my original fiction that I'd put on hold for the sake of our two beloved idiots.

Just as Charlie and Alastor's story was a mammoth undertaking (by far the longest Charlastor story on AO3 at the time of this writing!), Rhaya Nahl's story is also going to be an epic adventure, and I wanted to share some information about the world and the main characters before we get started with the story in full!

Starting next week will be a new weekly series of posts I'm calling White Soul Wednesdays, where I'll post information about the characters, the world, and the magic of the White Soul universe! It's a whole new world to explore, so I wanted to give readers a chance to see fragments of it before we start the story in full!

In addition to the lore-drops, I'm thrilled to announce that there will also be 3 mini-episodes to let readers explore bite-sized chunks of White Soul's story before the main series premieres!

The first White Soul 'mini' will drop Sunday, May 18th on BOTH Archive of our Own and Wattpad!!

In celebration of this announcement, I wanted to also provide a sneak peek at (part of) the cast for the White Soul saga!

I'm so excited to share this story, and I hope you enjoy this saga as much as you enjoyed ROM or my other shorts!

For those of you waiting for the continuation of Rumor Spectrum, please rest assured it is still on its way! Charlie and Alastor have been a delight to work with, and I just can't quit them! Long-time followers who have been here for a while now might recall another Charlastor project that hasn't quite made it to my library yet, and though it's been delayed, I can promise it is still very much in my queue for publishing!

As some of you may suspect... it's another story that was meant to be short, but has been slowly warping into something else. Thanks, brain!

The unfortunate reality is that there's only so many hours in the day, and I can only focus on one longer manuscript at a time. I strive to give each of my projects their due attention, and owe it to my readers to provide the best content I can!

Thank you all again so much for your continued support! We'll see you next week for the first White Soul Wednesday!
