She had been focusing on the glossy floors before her, her balance was far better than the first time she had been here with Yusei, but she still felt the need to ‘keep her eyes on the road’. She really rather not trip up in front of him, especially now that she was licensed and everything now thanks to his help. It would be incredibly embarrassing to make a folly now.

❝ I should be one thanking you, Yusei. ❞ She was the one who asked him to come here with her in the first place, after all. But here he was thanking her first. He really, truly, was something else. She had never experienced anyone like him before now, but she wanted to experience more of him because of that. ❝ It is nice to enjoy something for the sake of just enjoying it, though. Last time we were here it was for a purpose. This time-- ❞

Last time they were it was with the weight of her D-Wheel licensing exam looming overhead, but Yusei had done well to ease her mind even then. This time... Well this time there was no purpose or reason to being here, other than just wanting to. Aki, and even Yusei himself, were not often ones who so freely did whatever they wanted simply because they wanted to or could. So this was due to be quite the experience for both of them.

It was... nice. Aki ultimately came to that conclusion as she glided alongside Yusei. They could just have a nice time, here in the rink where nothing else was going on for once in their lives. 

Aki raises her gaze to take a quick look at Yusei, thinking she should match his gate so they’d stay close enough to continue their conversation without her accidently skating off. But when she looked over she found his eyes already on her, as if they hadn’t looked away from her this entire time. A small breath catches in her throat, and before she can even think to slow down or come to a stop entirely she skates right into him, her momentum carrying her straight into Yusei. Her hands search for purchase on his jacket, the wheels under her feet sliding out from under her due to the abrupt stop.

In the end she goofed up in front of him anyway. But she doesn’t seem to mind even as she corrects herself, still holding onto Yusei despite already standing back on her skates. The grin she wears is surely hard to miss, as she casts it up at the taller man. Embarrassment being the last thing on her mind, even as the rosy red hue decorating her cheeks was becoming more and more distinct as the seconds passed oh so slowly.

❝ --This time we can just have fun. ❞

The click of her rollerblades hitting against Yusei’s as she shuffled her feet about had then brought her back down to earth. Everything around them seemed to move again, and the ambient noise of fellow skaters was almost too loud for her at first as she was suddenly very aware of the position she had put them in. Right smack dab in the middle of the rink, they were sharing this moment for the entire world to see. But even then, she didn’t take her eyes or hands off Yusei. No... she wouldn’t let go of this moment, she’d treasure it just as Yusei would.

❝ And that’s not to say I didn’t have fun the last time we were here though. It’s because of that time I wanted to come back here... here with you. ❞ -

Here they were again rollerblading, Yusei gliding next to Aki, but this time for a different purpose. Before he had brought her here to help her with her balance so she could get her D-Wheel license, which she of course, passed with flying colors. This time, however, they were simply here for fun. He quite enjoyed spending time with her, a sharp contrast to how afraid of her he was initially upon their first meeting prior to the Fortune Cup. 

Plus, this outing served as a nice break from the chaos back at the garage. Managing Jack and Crow on top of now Bruno took a toll on him more than he cared to admit. He never complained about the frantic nature of his life. Yusei never complained about where he was at any point in his nineteen years on this earth. Someone had to be responsible, and he always took on those responsibilities whenever possible. It was just who he was.

Right now though, he didn’t have that weight on his shoulders. It all melted away when he was with the fellow signer, as if time had temporarily stopped just for the two of them to have fun and relax. Yusei was grateful for this opportunity, planning to treasure every moment with the girl whose smile he had come to cherish so much. 

“Thank you for coming here with me, Aki.” Yusei’s gentle sapphire gaze is fixed on her, his smile never waving as they glided across the floor. “I’m really enjoying myself. I hope you are, too.”
