hey, small heads up !

i will not be moving to a multimuse as i originally planned. i'm going to be limiting what original characters i write on tumblr, and as such, am limiting myself to three who will have their own separate blogs.

additionally, i will no longer be writing a wolverse for nerissa. i had a long, hard think about what i was feeling for her, and i felt like i was trying to smush her story into a wolverse instead of it fitting organically and i didn't like it. i will, however, be continuing to write her main verse here, on discord, and in-game for those who rp there too! this means there will be some rearranging to come in the next few weeks and i'll be reaching out to find out if people wish to continue threads from earlier this year.

follow up on the above: i'm sorry i'm still kinda MIA - the heatwave and some other stuff made me real sick and then classes have started this week which means i'm back to being a full-time student. i'm coming to the end of the class week now and planning to post some replies this weekend during my downtime.

Nerissa is quick to note the set jaw, the tenseness to the man, the slight snark to his actions when he shows the wet parchment. She’s too vigilant to not notice every movement, every look, every word used. Always analysing the people and situation to make sure she’s safe and that operation continues the same here, though she can’t help the small huff of amusement that escapes from her nose. He looks like he wants to run, and well, she can’t exactly blame him. She’s been told she’s too direct, too blunt sometimes but if it makes the conversation easier to navigate than false platitudes and small talk, isn’t that easier for everyone? 

“It is.” The raen replies, amusement laced in her tone as she steps past him into the drizzling rain, not even nodding her head in thanks for letting her go first. It doesn’t take long to guide them to a bench still within the city but far from anyone scurrying around, especially given the rain that begins to dampen her clothes that keeps most from venturing outside to begin with. Despite wanting somewhere to talk, she can’t hold back the grimace, not enjoying the way the way cloth begins to stick to her, but it’ll suit for her purposes. Thankfully, it’s covered by an awning that protects them from getting too drenched. There’s a moment of consideration lended towards sitting upon the very same bench she’d brought them to, but she thinks better of it. The movement is good for her and so she begins to pace as she talks, even better in that it allows her to avoid looking at him whilst doing so, given what a distraction trying to analyse his body language constantly would be.

“You seem the type that’s suited for the job I need you for. Not one to squirm away from something that many are wary of, or so that’s my hope at least.” Nerissa's steps near pause as her attention flickers back to him to look for any adverse reaction, even as she continues speaking barely a minute later as though she’s on a tangent now. “I need to gather a herb that’s been outlawed in one city-state, but as far as is within my knowledge, is not yet outlawed in others. It’ll be dangerous to gather, given that there’s monsters, treasure hunters and all other kinds surrounding the area and whilst I would love to send you on your lonesome to collect it — you look quite capable after all — description alone won’t help you to understand what it is you’re looking for, so I need a guard to accompany me instead.” The pacing finally ceases as she turns back to face him, stare almost too intense.

“Will that be suitable? I am willing to pay more than stated on the parchment and all travel costs, including food and all else you may need for the journey will be paid for.” There’s a pause, nose scrunching as she she tries to think if there’s anything she forgot, “Oh! I almost forgot to mention, we will need to go to Dravania for it.”

His gaze meets hers almost at the same time, when she begins packing her things. Xadai feels his jaw set, but he holds his ground, waiting patiently for her to address him completely. Though his brow lifts slightly at her inquiry, he bites his tongue and simply holds up the damp sheet of parchment in his hand with a look of 'you already know the answer to that' writ plainly on his face.

Her request for privacy does earn a slightly interested quirk to his features, though; but they are quick to set back into his neutral expression as he steps back and turns to unblock the doorway for her.

"If that's what you want." He answers, his tone flat and uncaring as he nods toward the exit. "I'm already soaked from the rain anyway, so going outside ain't gonna change much."

Despite his words though, it was taking him every ounce of self control to not immediately bail. He needed the money, and it wasn't her fault she was so.. No. That was in the past, and he didn't need some stranger sensing that there was something so very wrong and broken with him right out the gate. He was here to do a job, and he couldn't afford to back down now, not with the reward being what it was.

Silently, he sweeps his arm out to gesture toward the door, bidding her to go first. Though he had to wonder why she required a bit of privacy for what appeared to be a simple job. Maybe there was more to it than he originally thought - and if that was the case, then all the better he take it. Anything, especially if it meant that he would be busy and not bored, would be preferable to just sitting at home doing nothing and going insane all day.

TUTORIAL: using discord webhooks to get tumblr notifications in discord

hello everyone !! i’ve been using discord webhooks to get notifications in a channel of a personal server when i receive a new reply, ask, mention, or follower on any of my rp or personal accounts. you are also able to read the received asks, replies, and mentions you get right in the discord channel.

as someone with a fair number of separate tumblr accounts, it’s been a great feature to avoid having multiple windows or tumblr sessions open at once while still being aware of new activity on all my tumblr blogs.

it’s super easy to set up and requires only very basic knowledge of tumblr and discord !! the tutorial walks you through every step and shouldn’t take longer than 5-10 minutes at most to set up ( depending on how many blogs you are linking ).

Golden hues are quick to wash over the au ra upon the drop of her name, immediately locking onto the flyer in his hands. Deft but careful movements pack away her belongings, gloves removed and thrown away in order to not taint another’s bounty given the nature of what botanical ingredients she had been working with as of late. Her gaze never shifts from the man in question though, taking in every detail she can from appearance. This one seems different, and hopefully would not just be another in a long list of those who had approached for what appears to be a simple job, but truthfully, is nothing but. One needed to be willing to turn a blind eye, after all, even if what she was seeking wasn’t outlawed here, it was in other regions and that made some unnecessarily wary. Unfortunately, however, such things were better discussed in person and well, the price listed upon the job had all kinds scurrying to try and lay claim to it, she'd found and yet, none had quite yet met the strict requirements she had locked away in her mind thus leading to many finding themselves sent away before they could utter more than a sentence.

“After the job then?” Nerissa inquires, expression near neutral as she ignores the others until they return to their own work but clearly not quite enjoying the way her neck cranes to meet the man’s gaze given their difference in stature. “Whilst I would love to discuss the parameters with you, it would be preferable to do it somewhere much quieter.” A head tilt to the side, brow lofting quizzically, “Will that be a problem?”

Typically, Xadai's line of work paid well enough that he could have a good chunk of time between jobs and not have to worry about going completely broke. His shitty apartment was cheap, and he survived off of mostly non-perishable food, so funds were not usually something that he had to be concerned about.

However, it had been some time since a job was kicked his way, and he found himself searching for something to not only pay the bills, but to give him something to fucking do. This job seemed pretty simple, and it got him out of Ishgard and into Gridania to visit the botanists' guild of all things.

It was mercenary work, to put it simply. And he liked that it was simple on paper and paid a decent amount as well. So here he stood in the drizzle that fell over the Shroud, wet parchment in hand as he turned his gaze upward to view the sign before him.

The steps leading up to the guild creaked under his weight, and the tall man had to stoop slightly to get inside. He was met with the sight of a handful of people, and as all eyes turned to him, he returned their gazes with a serious frown:

"...'m lookin' for a miss Vathana..."

THE SEA HAD ALWAYS BEEN HOME TO HER. THE WAVES A SIREN SONG THAT ALWAYS CALLED HER BACK and it was to the docks she’d once called home — (what an interesting word for a place that abandoned her before she could even dream of abandoning it) — that she would return to seek out a flagship that she hoped would come to her aid, infamous as the crew’s captain was.

And what a relief it was to find the ship docked within Limsa Lominsa’s port, given that a trip elsewhere in the hopes of finding the elusive hyur would’ve worn her out far more than she would appreciate. There was something to be said for her luck but maybe, just maybe it would be on her side this eve.

Still, even though she squared her shoulders, there was a hesitance in her as she approached. A merchant ship, maybe, but once known for its illegality, and well, the Captain had many rumours and more attached to her name. Maybe they were like her own — fed by those who had nothing better to do and loved the idea of ruining someone’s life, their livelihood, or maybe there was a kernel of truth to them and she’d end up with a blade against her throat within the bell. How was she to know without seeking out what may possibly be her very demise?

“I’ve come to see Captain @edenfelled, if she is willing to take a visitor.” Nerissa spoke to the nearby dockhand, assured and strong, barely a waver in her voice despite how her insides roiled like the nearby ocean crashing upon the pillars. “I wish to barter a passage on the Wolfsbane, and more but the rest is for her ears alone. Would she be willing to speak with me?”
