“I know just the place!” Sage announced cheerily, springing upright, “Follow me!”

Sage guided the Recluse through the streets, and through a couple of alleys - this was definitely more in the residential area now.

Finally he stopped at a small building on the corner, “It’s sort of a café/corner store/bookshop. They’ve got hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, salads and soups.”

The interior was cozy, though somewhat eclectic with bright sunny colours and rows of bookshelves. There were only a few tables situated near the windows, where Sage clearly had a table he preferred as he sat down at it, gesturing for Recluse to sit across from him.

“I don’t mind cutting this short, I appreciate that you came at all. Maybe next year you’ll be more used to the noise and crowds.”

“But if you really don’t want to leave leave yet we could go to a restaurant or a café, or something… somewhere quieter and less crowded- I know a good local place that won’t have so many tourists,” Sage suggested before explaining, “I visit here on my lecture circuit.”

I love how you handle Sage, honestly. He’s very bouncy and energetic. Sharp with his words too, though he seems to be insatiably curious about what Truthless Recluse is doing. And Shadow Milk!! He’s so playful and I like how you handle his nature really well. c: I hope to see more of his vicious side at some point~

Sage is very fun to play - I hope to show more of his messed up side sometime! I still need to write out his full story from his main timeline - but at the same time I don’t want to spoil it.

As for Shadow Milk… you will probably never see his vicious side from me - I can write playfully mean spirited, and petty and tsundere but writing genuine cruelty makes me feel bad. I write redeemed villains for a reason, haha.

He let go of his arm that was slowly oozing blue jam now. His breathing was still heavy but he shook his head, “Nah, ‘m fine.”

He was still on the ground, and he still trembled every once in a while. But, yeah, he was totally fine.

He continued to stare, mouth moving silently as she held up her hands. He sunk to the ground, the ringing starting to fade. He wasn’t- He was safe.

Her voice was starting to come through, the words still muffled and distant. Instead of following her suggestion of breathing through it though, he raised his arm to his mouth and took a sharp fanged bite of it, bringing the world back into focus.

He continued to stare, mouth moving silently as she held up her hands. He sunk to the ground, the ringing starting to fade. He wasn’t- He was safe.

Her voice was starting to come through, the words still muffled and distant. Instead of following her suggestion of breathing through it though, he raised his arm to his mouth and took a sharp fanged bite of it, bringing the world back into focus.

The ringing in his head was growing louder and louder - that metallic ringing that pierced his mind. Took him back there. Back then.

He whined, the keening sound growing in volume as he fled into the woods nearby the Cookie Kingdom. Where the trembling azure cookie encountered Ribbon Cookie - bless her heart for trying to soothe the Beast.

"No! No! I don't want-" He growled, staring at her with unseeing mismatched eyes - the eyes in his hair were closed completely.

“Aw, the shepherd’s looking a little sheepish,” Shadow Milk teased, floating to perch on the back of Pure Vanilla’s chair, “Fortunately, I have prepared you a decadent meal.”

There’s the clink and thud of furniture from behind Pure Vanilla. If he turned around he would find the room’s usual furniture missing, save for the chair he was currently sitting in.

In their place was a round ebony and ivory dining table and two chairs, one black and one white, “Come and take a seat, dinner will be served momentarily.”

“So, Nilly, when was the last time you ate?” Shadow Milk asked - he’s noticed his “friend’s” habits…

Pure Vanilla’s hands froze as the went over the page, which could be a bit comical considering the look on the cookie’s face was that of being caught in the act. Sheepish; caught in the act. “… Don’t you dare.” was his only response.

He hadn’t eaten since breakfast. Which had been a few slices of toast, if that.
