Welcome to the community! I’m so glad you like my blog! Just a few months ago I was also new to the community so I know how daunting it can be! Below I’ve put together a bunch of helpful tips and links that I’ve either used in the past or believe will be useful to you, and any other new/aspiring simblrs! Obviously, everything is subjective- what works for me might not work for everyone else!

🎁 The Basics:

Make your tumblr a seperate tumblr, not a sideblog under your main/personal blog. It will make everything easier in the long run, trust me!

Use your description to advertise to others what you and your blog are all about. Also having either your URL or your avatar sim related will quickly advertise to others that you’re a simblr! 

Enable replies and asks in your blogs settings, if you want people to be able to interact with you and your posts! Bare in mind an interactive simblr is much more approachable!!

Keep it sim related! A few personal posts every once and a while is perfectly fine, but post a lot of unrelated stuff you could lose followers. 

Network! Follow other simblr’s, like their posts, leave friendly and encouraging comments! Making friends in this community is a sure-fire way to get started. I would be nowhere without my simblr friends!

Don’t become disheartened if it takes you a while to take off! Every simblr grows at a different rate.

Don’t mistag your posts! Failing to tag your NSFW content or tagging posts that aren’t cc posts as ts4cc will make you very unpopular.

Keep your blog atleast 80% original content! It’s much easier for a blog that tries to be original to gain traction in this community! 

Don’t get caught up in how many followers/notes you have! Just post what you post because you love it! Don’t worry what other people think.

Everyone at some point or another will recieve anon hate. It’s sad that there’s so many negative people out there, but my advice is just to delete it. If you do want to post it, handle it with grace and dignity! (think of Audrey Hepburn!)

This is more a personal one but: try your best to avoid the drama!!

Finally, treasure your followers & always stay humble!

🎁 Common Simblr Terms Explained:

NSFW: Not safe for work. This is used for any posts that contain nudity of adult themes! It’s very important to tag these posts.

WIP: Work In Progress. This can refer to any sim related project that is unfinished. 

WCIF: Where Can I Find? If someone sees a peice of CC in one of your posts that they like they may send you a ‘WCIF’ through your ask box, they’re simply asking where they can find that certain peice of cc. Not all simblrs agree to answer WCIF’s but it’s certainly very nice to!

MM: Maxis Match. Refering to custom content that matches the general aesthetic of the game.

Alpha:  Refers to hairstyles that don’t fit the aesthetic of the game, as they have alpha layers which allow certain parts of the mesh to be transparent. This is what makes alpha hairstyles more realistic looking.

Clayified: Refers to Alpha hairstyles that have been retextured to look more maxis match.

Simblr...?

Given that this tumblr is mostly for Sims 2 content (my current binge and I LOVE IT, NO REGRETS!) I am tempted to make a separate and dedicated Simblr (Sim’s tumblr, I’m assuming..?).

Soooo that might be my goal this week however as I’m on the night turns this week it might content sleep-deceived zzzzzzzz :D 

Also what is a Sims 2 Snapshot/Picture story called? Are they just Sims stories? I want to make sure I give it the right tags. I’ve found some many of others and THEY ARE AWESOME! 

 *I may or may not have at all renovated my new Pleasantview save to make it more cluttered/realistic details....*

I used to (AGES AGO) make (or attempt to make decent) Sims 2 series/videos on Youtube. I think the videos are still there (sorry for the awful spelling, grammar and poor plot to them!) if anyone wants to watch them. I even downloaded some postboxes into my game, which reminded me of the days when I had LOADS when i was trying to do these series.

He’d never admit it, but Don really did work at putting himself into his home. It’s a little on the small side, sure, but it’s more than enough for him and whichever Sim he’s… entertaining for the evening. Slowly, surely, maybe just little-by-little he’s added more and more little touches - a hint of sophistication here, a lot of industrial modern there - and now the place practically speaks for him.

Not my article, re-showing it

NOTE: This is mainly for NVIDIA users. Sorry :/

So, I think all of us simmers with modern hardware have sat in front of our screens having the time of our lives to only be greeted with this disgusting thing:

Pure evil, right? How about this?

I think we’ve all sat in front of our screens day and night hunting for fixes, in which some work, some don’t. Some do for three days, some just… prevent the application from starting at all.

Some of us have even gone as far as to buy completely new computers with older operating systems like Windows 7, Windows XP. Some of us have bought new hardware and still, nothing has changed. People are wasting their money, time and sanity to fix this issue when in fact… there is a reliable, quick and definite fix.

Thanks to @episims​ and their EXTREMELY helpful guide, I managed to fix the flashing and crashing in my game and have managed to exceed my old CC limit of 3GB. But the one thing in their guide that I want to focus on here is this:

This line isn’t here, you have to manually add it in yourself. Navigate to it by hitting CTRL + F and type some of the sentences that appear here. 

Now, I’m not entirely sure what it does but it did indeed prevents these errors from occurring. One of the huge issues with TS2 is that cards with huge amounts of VRAM like the NVIDIA RTX 2080 (8GB Video Memory) consistently have issues with the game and the crashing and flashing is bound to be worse.

However, that is not the case now. Crazysim, the one who created the DXVK guide and has helped tremendously in the community to fix the issue, tested this fix on their 2080 and the game ran perfectly - no issues. So, to those with awesome ass hardware and wanna play the game with no issue - HERE YOU GO! 

Before bringing this to the attention of others on Discord and Tumblr, I managed to help my small circle of simblr friends with this fix and they all said that their issues are now solved, which is incredible! I myself have gone out of my way spending money on new computers and hardware just for this game to run and now that there is finally a good, definite fix genuinely warms my heart. 

The last thing I want to say is don’t use the graphics rules maker after applying that fix as the GRM will revert it and wipe that line out (causing the errors to happen again). 

If you made it to the bottom of this guide, wow, I can’t believe you stuck around that long. Good luck with the fix, let me know how you all get on and finally thank you @episims​ for bringing that one line to our attention! :D

this is an honest to god rant

humans are disgusting creatures who only feel entitled to give themselves a second chance but not to others.

Ant Mcpartlin is perhaps the one person in this entire planet that deserves another chance, yet people are hounding from across their screens with no idea of how hurtful their words can be

instead of wanting to help a lost soul, they keep bashing it 

people will have to be careful because if something happens to him its really on your hands ! 

we’ve already lost a lot of good celebrities recently it wont do good to lose another

and who more than ANT !! this man has provided his nation with 25+ years of laughter and utter joy, he contributes in charity and is an amazing man

yet with the first sign of trouble people are ready to boot him, if only you can do ¼th of what he has done 

i will never condone drunk driving but you also have to see what came out of it. thankfully no one got hurt, and yet people will not appreciate that bit of good news!

more than watching Ant feel helpless, what has truly made me upset is the peoples behavior towards it, everyone preaches about mental health yet once a case is presented in front of you, what do you do? you turn a blind eye
