Some people in 1914 seemed to have been under the impression that the most fashionable women would dye or would soon be dying their hair outrageous colors to match the outrageous colors of their evening gowns.  I’m not sure where this idea came from, but I’ve seen it referenced in a number of cartoons from that year.

Also, I’d love to have a framed print of this.

danger of power structure entrenching and justifying orthodox views on social issues

criticisms of academia that get made:

it continues that nothing is funnier than young bright eyed misha collins being cast as the very first angel on supernatural and coming in hot with Acting Choices that this ancient divine being should be a little strange and offputting and then No Other actors cast as angels following suit At All such that castiel canonically just had to become known as a peculiar little freak

Got to see Hadestown for the first time ever today (and it was amazing oh my god I had no idea what I was missing) and I'd just like to give a shout out to the poor soul in the audience who had clearly never heard the myth of Orpheus before, because when Orpheus turned around at the end the audience was dead silent except for this one very audible gasp of "no!" from somewhere in the crowd. And after Euridyce was gone and Orpheus dropped to his knees in grief, all anybody --cast, audience, the uncaring gods, etc -- could hear was muffled weeping from the same person
