Sivni - The Eastern Territory
Tumblr media
A continent battered and broken from an ancient war, now a land where the winds whisper riddles and the trees play you for the fool.
The twin cities of Sennari and Sannari are the most populated urban centers, and both are controlled from the shadows by the Azamu Syndicate - a highly secretive, highly organized criminal group that started as a ring of underground gambling houses. Together, the cities are sometimes referred to as the Sonam region.
- The Eversong Resevoir, located to the west of Sennari, is a massive freshwater lake that powers the twin cities and holds one of the world's most advanced dam systems.
- The Fragments are an archipelago to the south. Legends say that the Bastion of Wrath and the Bastion of Absolution, as part of the brutal war between the gods in antiquity, both destroyed the entire southern region of the continent in their clash. When the conflict died down, they threw their weapons into the sea in an act of benevolence. Two stone structures in the south sea are thought to be what remains of these items.
-The Empyrean is a towering mountain that soars high into the clouds, surrounded by steep and treacherous cliffs. Legends link it to the Bastion of Earth, who is said to reside at the very top. Nobody who has made the journey has ever returned.
-Souna village is a quiet Tabaxi village at the foot of The Empyrean, and Kamino's hometown.
-The House of Reeds is a dark and murky jungle that plays tricks on those who enter. Travelers are often led astray by winding paths that either lead you back to the entrance if you're lucky, or to certain death if you're not. The Sennaran government forbids entry into the region, only granting temporary permits for research purposes. This hasn't stopped the adventurous types, and whispers even abound that a chapter of the Azamu Syndicate operates out of the heart of the jungle.
-The Eternal Tree is said to have been present during the ancient divine war. It saw the shattering of the lands, and remains in quiet contemplation. The citizens of Guanzi Hollow are its caretakers.
-To the north, as the nights grow colder, nestled in an inconspicuous wood, lies the Yuèguāng Ruins. Stories passed down from Errentai claim that somewhere within lies an entrance to what some call "The Other Side", the dreamlike domain of the Bastion of Repose.

Leni - The Northern Territory
Tumblr media
Desolate and volatile, the northern territory is a force to be reckoned with. While the Cavatina Penninsula is mildly temperate, the rest of the continent is a harsh, chilling wasteland.
The Kingdom of Forthwin is the central ruling power, controlling everything north of the Cielo Range. Due to the extremely harsh weather and incredibly isolated nature of the kingdom's territories, they have remained in quiet isolation for centuries. This, combined with the death of one of the kingdom's most beloved and benevolent rulers, has plunged the kingdom into a state of mourning. As such, they have shunned any and all emerging technologies of the new world and prefer to live a solemn and modest life.
-Opulus, the capital city of the kingdom, is surrounded by massive walls lit by enormous braziers. This allows the city to be visible at night or in the fog from a great distance, granting it the nickname The North Star.
-Satora is one of the continent's oldest settlements, and was originally a mining town settled by inhabitants of the Eastern Territory. It is now famous for its gemstones, which are pulled from deep within the earth in the Gregorian Barrens. A brutal and dangerous job.
-The Borean Deep is thought to be bottomless. Legends say it is the domain of the Bastion of Torrents.
-Figaro is the largest city south of the mountains. Known primarily for its airship factories.
-The Valencia Islands are a group of semi-autonomous islands under the jurisdiction of the Aldsten Empire. North Star Outpost is a lonely, isolated station that is used as a front for espionage.
-Contralto is a cold and quiet coastal town, where Soprano Saba calls home. The headquarters of Valkyrie Post is located here.
-The Reverie Strait is a narrow but highly dangerous body of water separating the Northern and Southern territories. Littered with rocky spires and treacherous sea monsters, the journey often fills sailors with a maddening and maniacal countenance if they make it through, earning it it's ironic moniker.
-A structure known only as The Mausoleum exists in the tundras southwest of Opulus. It appears as a massive stone tomb with a statue of a previous Forthwin king standing tall atop it. Forthwin citizens speak of the tomb with eloquent reverence, and frequently make pilgrimages to it to pay their respects.

Rani - The Western Territory
Tumblr media
Known for its dense, coniferous forests and towering mountain ranges. Dronreugh, the seat of power for the Aldsten Empire, dominates the eastern half of the continent.
-It is said that the Bastion of Life once called the mountains of Rani its home, creating Dragonborn and Kobolds in its image before vanishing back underground. Early accounts describe the mountains "birthing" kobolds, as they claw their way out of the caves and into the sunlight.
-The Velpold Bridge, named after the Emperor's family, is a marvel of modern engineering. It is the only alternative means of ground transportation between the two sections of the continent besides braving the treacherous mountain passes of the west.
-Evakyl Island is populated almost exclusively by Dragonborn, and continues to remain in quiet isolation from the rest of the territory.
-Ancient Dragonborn tribes who resided on the mainland would often duel each other in bouts of strength and spectacle. The losers would be processed down the coast and thrown off the Codetta Cliffs.
-Torrentia is a floating city just off the southern coast. It was named in honor of the Bastion of Torrents, who was once though to have pulled the city out of the depths with enormous chains.
-Deep in the mountains lies the Aevus Monastery, home to the Order of Glass. This modest order of monks has served the Bastion of Time since antiquity. A popular legend states that the monks safeguard an artifact on behalf of the Bastion itself. However, as outsiders are not permitted, and due to the volatile location of the monastery itself, nobody has been able to verify the tale.
-Aldsten expansion to the north is continuously halted by a destructive force residing in the Verity Glade, all attempts to locate and capture it have failed.
-Prevailing winds from the Northern Territory sweep through the hills of the Vibrati Tundra, often emitting a high pitched warbling sound.
-Goblins are commonly seen all over Rani, with Camp Wrigglehorn in the south being a notable settlement. The residents within delight in revelry and chaotic play, no two visitor's accounts of the area are the same.

Welcome to Ariosa!
Tumblr media
The setting of our story.
Where music once filled the air, now a world of discourse and unrest.
Divided into 5 distinct territories, Ariosa's diverse landscapes were once ancient battlefields for the beings known as the Bastions. The conflict stirred the lands so much that the climate shifted drastically. The windswept wastes of the northern continent froze over, while the lush jungles of the south all dried up.

“GIVE IT BAAAAACK!”
A brown kobold stands unmoving and holds a toy dragon high above his head. His brother, a little green kobold, continuously shouts and jumps up and down, waving his thin arms trying to snatch it back.
“Not until ya grow taller ya little runt!”
The brown kobold playfully retorts, as he grabs his kid brother's head and pushes him out of the way. He tosses the toy up and down a few times.
“BARIIIIIIIII!”
The boy's shrieks finally get the attention of the blue kobold in the next room. She emerges wearing a flour-coated apron.
“Bari, please, just give it back to him.”
Baritone simply rolls his eyes and tosses the toy back to the green kobold, who responds with a stuck out tongue and a splattery “PTTTHHBB”, then scampers out the back door.
“Honestly, you don’t have to torment him so much…”
Soprano brushes her hands together as a powdery mist dances around in the evening sun.
“You ain’t mom.” Bari responds bluntly.
She exhales, and shrugs. “You’re right. I’m not. But please just treat him a lil’ nicer, alright?”
She begins to rub her temples and mumbles. “His screaming gave me quite the headache…”
Bari begins to turn around and walk out, before being stopped again.
“I have a late shift at the tavern, so look after the others tonight. I’ll be back early in the mornin’ ”.
He whips around.
“Seriously!? Why is it always me?”
“Because I told you to. Please, Bari, it really helps a lot..."
With a grumble, he reluctantly agrees.
“Fine, whatever.”
Soprano gives a warm, relieving smile and pats him on the shoulder, before hanging up her apron. She heads upstairs to freshen up and get dressed.
Bari shoves his hands in the pockets of his dirty trousers and meanders into the living room. He sees his other brother on the rug, playing with a couple of toy tanks and an assortment of other little trinkets. He happily coos and makes gentle chirping noises, as if lost in his own little world.
The bruises, blisters, and black eyes from all the fights Bari's gotten into around town mask a deeply sensitive kid, one who hides his protectiveness and sense of justice behind a thick layer of gruff and grit.
The world has felt a lot bigger and scarier lately, and someone has to fight for them.

Tinker, Tailor
CW: Abuse and Strong Language
“There. Done.”
The Royal Artificer lethargically sets their screwdriver down among the myriad of other tools that have seen activity in the past few hours. His desk is a cacophony of metal, wood, and intricate little mechanisms. A workspace that would make one go cross-eyed if looked at for too long.
“I recalibrated the coils and oiled the finger joints. I reckon you’re good to go.”
The scruffy wolf sitting next to the workstation raises their newly primed and polished prosthetic arm and tests the fingers by making a repeated grasping motion. The clicks and squeaks are much less prominent. He extends the claws on the fingers with a sudden “Chk!”, and they pulsate a bright blue, filling the workshop with an eerie glow.
The wolf smiles, jagged yellow teeth glistening in the dull blue light. “Ain’t that top-hole.”
He stands up and starts to head toward the door, but is interrupted.
“Um. Hold on.”
The wolf stops, and halfway turns around with a grunt.
“What.”
“Well…you come in for repairs and tune-ups at the same time every week. It’s always more beat up than it really should be. What do you…do with that thing?”
The wolf fully turns around and stares at the Artificer. His menacing, hulking frame casting an equally as threatening shadow in the dim light of the claws he kept unsheathed. He stomps toward the Artificer, shoulder pauldrons jostling and clinking as he approaches, and points a glowing claw at him, making him flinch.
“You’re here to make shit, not ask questions. Got it, kid?”
The Artificer looks up at the wolf’s snarling face. Artificial lenses reflecting his anxious expression.
He eventually stutters out. “W-well I um…It’s just that since I’m the one that makes your augments, I believe I h-have a right to know what-”
Before the sentence can be finished, the wolf suddenly smacks him to the ground with his non-mechanical hand. A feeble yelp reverberates throughout the workshop.
“Know your place, you pathetic little yokel! Just do what you’re bloody told! Understand? Or do I have to drill it into that brainy head of yours?"
He raises his artificial arm, blueish white electricity courses through the forearm and lights up the workshop even more.
The bedraggled Artificer coughs and sputters. He looks up at the wolf, clutching his head. All he can give in response is a meek nod.
Chk! The claws sheath back into his mechanical hand. He spits on the ground.
“Glad we’re on the same page.”
He mutters something else to himself as he turns back around and stomps out of the workshop, slamming the door shut.
The Artificer, now alone in his shop, stands up, brushes himself off, and stumbles to his desk on shaky legs. He takes off his goggles and tosses them to the side.
Tears silently stream down his face.

Veni, Vidi, Vixi
A “Closed” sign, haphazardly slapped on to the outside of the front door. Even after hours, life at the Liberalia Lounge remains colorful and lively. Muffled laughter and cheers can be heard from within. Clinks of glasses, squeaks of chairs, the stomps of feet as figures of various sizes dance their troubles away in a flurry of boisterous jubilation.
“...and we will NOT lay down and die!...”
The warm glow of candles bathe the room in a deep saffron. The flicker of which reflects off the watery eyes of a tall Dragonborn with rich blue scales. His face is youthful, kind yet defiant.
“...in DEATH, we show COMPLIANCE…”
One foot up on a chair, his size makes him easily visible among the diverse crowd of like-minded youths.
“...Nothin’ changes, and the cycle continues…”
A kenku girl, cowl concealing her sullen green eyes, sits entranced by the speech. Her tea has gotten cold.
“...Now, lads. Tomorrow, we break that cycle!”
Tankards of beer, fists, hats, and more are thrust into the air as a chorus of cheers ring throughout the room. The Dragonborn triumphantly looks around the space and steps down off the chair. A skinny young man shoves a tankard into his hands.
“I daresay your first rousing speech was one for the ages, Milo”.
The Dragonborn takes the drink and looks up at the man. Early 20s, pointed ears poking out from locks of vibrant, golden hair.
“You sure it wasn’t too much? I’m not the best with words”
The man shakes his head with a smile.
“You did a wonderful job, mate. Really riled everyone up. Right, chief?”
He turns to look beyond the mingling crowd at a small figure sitting cross legged on the edge of the bar. They’re gently tuning a guitar, plucking the strings and twisting the pegs with eagle-eyed intent. The figure looks up. A kobold, brown scales and a piercing gaze. They give a tender smile, nodding in approval.
Milo calms down a bit and bashfully looks to the side.
“Well, I’m just glad he let me. Usually he’s the one who does all the speakin’ and whatnot.”
There’s a pause.
“We’re really doin’ this?”
“The plans are all set up, it’s now or never.”
Another pause.
“Ya know, I never once expected to be a part of somethin’ like this.”
“I don’t think any of us did, but you said it yourself up there. The cycle can’t be broken if nothing is done.”
A cackle of laughter reverberates across the still lively room.
“Besides, you saw what happened at the Degraide. The blueballs are going to be spread thin looking for that little fella. That's why we have to take the chance now.”
Milo looks down at the floor, a million thoughts go through his head, all pounding at the walls of his skull like a troupe of tiny miners.
“I just hope he's okay…”
The man gently puts a hand on Milo’s arm.
“It’s gonna take a lot more than that to bring the little troublemaker down.”
He playfully pats Milo’s face a few times before grabbing his drink and disappearing into the crowd.
Left alone with his thoughts, Milo takes a big swig from the tankard he’s been fiddling with.
Heir to an estate that no longer exists. The last surviving member of the prestigious Vanderburg family.
Funny where life can take you, he muses to himself.

In a frigid corner of the Northern Territory, nestled between a bakery and the constable's office, lies Valkyrie Post. The humble and homely establishment is where Soprano Saba makes her living handling postal affairs. It's a modest life, but one that makes a small town girl yearn for more.
