Mysteries in this world wont last long in the hands of time. Four months ago, Devina (@devinadeascal) and I did not see this coming. We dont even know how our NGO logo would look like, how can we even finance it day by day. We think of creating a fundraising event, but with zero experience of conducting one, it was still a mystery on how to execute and will it attract anyone at all. . Fast forward to two intense month, 12 working weekends, 30+ new best friends and finally, 150% attainment from our funds target of the two-day event, #FestivalJalinMimpi . We are elated that all of our efforts can make possible the rennovation of a school in Desa Papu, Sumba, and also the continuation of our free education program for Sumbanese kids . So glad that we also find like-minded individuals in the process, all of the volunteers, and our partners whom are the fission power to this fantastic milestone. For a round trip from Jakarta to Chile, I have to get on to 8 flights in total. By th end of this travel, Ive stuffed about 16 inflight meals in 4 days! Thus, seeing all these authentic Chilean cuisine - or any meal that's not premade for flights, just really excites me! 1. Empanadas - similar like 'Panadas' from Manado, but the filling is usually melting cheese or ham. My fave ones are the one grilled and sold on the side of the street 2/3. Avocado on toast by the campfire and Vegetable Quiche with bottomless beer 4. Cheetos Quezas (cheese)!!! 5/6. Soupa de Marisco (seafood) or Ave (chicken). Truly soup for the soul 🍲🍲 7. I was first intrigued by the idea of watching a solar eclipse late last year, after hearing a TED Talk from David Baron, who's been an #eclipsechaser for most of his life. He called himself an umbraphile, or someone who stands under the shadow of the moon (umbra) . The question in my head is, why would anyone go travel around the globe just for a solar eclipse? I've experienced watching a solar eclipse when I was a kid in Indonesia, using an eclipse-filtered glasses and I remembered it being an extraordinary event, but I wasnt sure the experience was worth a redo. Little did I know that standing under an umbra and a pen-umbra is totally different . Umbra shadow only happens during a total solar eclipse within a very specific area and timing on earth. When it happen, you can take off your filtered glasses and see a covered sun with your naked eyes. You then watch the day turns into night, stars appear in daytime, shadows become weird and cresent-shaped, foxes all-confused and come out of the bushes; everything happens in under 2 mins . So, would I travel 10,000 miles, 35+ hours, 8 flights again for that 2 minutes time? One might be curious on how does one feel when at night the temperature in the desert drops more than 10 degrees Celsius. Well first, you'll get cold feet, and then you realize that it's NOT gonna get better before the sun rises. Along the 6-hour-drive from Santiago to La Serena, and then another 3-4 hours to Vicuña, we saw a lot of wind turbine and solar panel on the way.
