If you become a creator that likes to troll/mislead people about the stories for light-hearted fun, be prepare that some fans gonna take your troll posts seriously and your serious posts as a joke, it just comes with the territory.

(Although don't get me wrong that doesn't justify the fans who attack the creator for the jokes they made, even if those fans thought it was legit. Or the fans who treat other fans poorly for not being able to tell when they are supposed to take things seriously.)

Fandom Problem #8337:

"How could you say you hate this character when you like a character who's done much worse things??"

Because, there's a difference between characters the show WANTS you to like and the ones the show doesn't want you to like.

If a character is an antagonist, so they appropriately act unpleasant, congrats, they've sufficiently served their intended purpose in the story.

When a character is SO thoroughly unpleasant but the the show really really REALLY wants to make you care about them, feel bad for them, even though they cause most of their own problems, it is just the most grating experience.
