also actually while im here thinking abt dan i’m just like.... when is he gonna kiss men. HE’S SO REPRESSED IT HURTS ACTUALLY? even if a part of him knows like he’s interested in men, w/ how shit was back then it would’ve been very difficult for him to.... accept it? to do something w/ that knowledge. so he buries it, like he buries everything else in his life, his trauma, his guilt, his loss!!!!

but. But. i’d just like to explore him one day, working through his repressed feelings towards men, bc i can imagine a teenage dan having the cutest, quiet crushes, but he’d always been so forward w/ women bc that’s what society advocated for u know. gentle moments w/ guys he knew he’d never get bc if u acted too friendly u were mocked for it, and he has always been so.... hesitant abt things, so people pleasing that he’d shove all his own feelings down in the process for the sake of appeasing everyone around him. I Don’t Know Man

like i said once, meg’s the only person he’d ever confide in w/ these feelings, no one else would come close which is saying smth bc the internalized homophobia do be going insane. he’s just having his own mental mindfuck, constant anxiety at the thought of being intimate w/ another guy, but truly it’s what he deserves

2. sunnyvale dan meets shadyside meg, she goes insane (thank u curse) but bc dan has braincells he’s like ‘NO MY FIANCE DIDN’T DO THAT’ (also he’s a malewife) but he’s Branded as off the shits and ‘inconsolable after the tragic loss of his fiance’
