Parabatai are battle partners, best friends, "platonic soulmates". There is a magic ritual to create an unbreakable bond between them, and it's forbidden to have romantic feelings for your Parabatai. But you can't really control your heart, can you?

They both realize their love is not exactly platonic a little bit late and now are between the sword and the wall 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ Kacchan who would prefer to pretend everything is the same as ever, and have Izuku as "just a parabatai" if it means having him at all, vs Izuku who can't really contain his newfound emotions and *needs* to act on them and is going to doom the both of them.

A little late to make that observation, Izuku (He wasn't thinking of marrying anyways 😔)

How would they know? 🤨 (they're unaware of the parabatai curse)

There is something so poetic about Horikoshi using hands as the recurring motif for the state of bakudeku's relationship. Katsuki using his hands to fight against and ridicule Izuku for years and izuku choosing to use his hands to offer kindness and help him regardless of that fact is so intriguing. It's in the way that Katsuki initially believes that the strength of the destruction in his hands is what will make him a hero who surpasses even All Might himself, whereas Izuku believes that it is the symbolic sense of assurance and protection his hands will bring that will make him a great hero.

It's present in the way that force is katsuki's main and first source of strength and literally breeds itself to escape via explosion from his hands and yet his one regret is not taking izuku's hand of assistance offered with the sole intent to care and help him when they were children.

Horikoshi shows us that both an aggressive touch and a gentle one can coexist and that both of them are needed to make a hero, and both of these aspects of touch are needed for izuku and katsuki to understand eachother. When they cannot speak with their words they use their hands, they fight until one of them cannot get up, and through this, a message is both sent and heard between them. It is a language that only they know how to speak.

For Horikoshi to choose that the last official mha panel of katsuki we ever get to see to be one where he finally takes the initiative to be the one reaching his hand out for izuku to take means so much to me and really makes me sit back and think about how much their dynamic has grown to be a pair of equals standing beside each other.

Katsuki Bakugou and The Symbol of Peace

I was thinking about something... When I see analysis of Bakugou's character I always see talks about how he's perceptive of others weaknesses and strengths, how he also knows his strengths, but not his own weakness, things that he starts to perceive after Kamino. Which is true, in fact, as it's always taken up, he himself says "If you keep looking down on everyone else, you'll never be able to see your own weakness." But even though this is true I think it's not all there is.

Bakugou starts to see his faults after Kamino, because he started to see the things he thought were strengths as weaknesses. He begins to understand how All Might's symbol and some of his traits that make him seem great to the public, to society, are weak, because now that the symbol crumbled all that remained were weak foundations. All Might's symbol made him think that to be strong you'd have to do it alone because no one could even begin to think about surpassing you or even keep up with you.

That's what this is about, and that's what he's trying to fix later on in the series, when he follows Izuku, when he lets Endeavour and Shoto help save Izuku, when he explains to Endeavour why they can't leave Izuku and Toshinori alone with each other, when he tries to convince Izuku to come back to UA.

Following this line of thought, I think we can also say that in a way when Katsuki said "Tell me Izuku, can I still catch up to you?" he was fully seeing Izuku as the symbol of peace, and saw him take the same route of All Might. "I'm the one who steps up when the nerd can't handle it all on his own", Katsuki is also saying that Izuku will never fully be like All Might and that he will personally make sure of it, because he'll always have someone to be at his side.
