it's funny but the idea of like going out of our way to try to produce garbage data to stop the things scraping us for training is a bit silly. the stuff those devices produce is gonna be slop again anyway, and now all of them are eating the slop made by other ones. they devour themselves whole. don't let them trick you into thinking these systems are truly improving every day, just remember, all the people working on them are startup charlatans desperately trying to find a use case for a technology that has no rly practical use outside of spam production. and they're all operating at loss
the word for this sort of thing is "bubble", nobody knows when it will pop, because nobody knows when any bubble is going to pop, but all of them are based on expectations buoyed by hype men to hide the reality that some products are just pointless. "haven't you been saying that for a few years now" hasn't everyone else been panicking about how this is the end of art and the entire world for a few years now? that's the thing about bubbles. it's /always/ just a few years off. it's like nuclear fusion. because it's all about convincing people with money that if they just keep investing even more into it it'll eventually become profitable and they'll feel so good cuz they got in on the ground floor
what im trying to say is: yeah it might feel like these things are everywhere and fundamentally warping experience for everyone. but they aren't profitable, at all. and once the people trying to hock them collapse under inability to deliver, it'll leave the news, then normal ppl will stop caring

It will get cold again eventually. The summer will not last forever. I’m not doomed to live in this unbearable heat for all eternity. <- said while gripping the countertop so hard that the tile is starting to crack

Always funny when you watch a piece of media (especially if it's supposed to be deep and artsy) and find there's no women in there.
Like, is this part of the aesthetic vision? Are they making commentary on men specifically? Or did they just kinda.... forget?

/r/falloutlore is probably the worst subreddit because every discussion there is like, the opposite of worldbuilding. It’s worldunbuilding. There was a post that was like “how do wastelanders know how old they are?” and all the responses were something along the lines of “well The Lore never explicitly states that people use calendars, so most rural [read: uneducated] wastelanders probably have no idea what year it is or how old they are. The ones who have computers know everything perfectly because computers have internal clocks :)”.
Like, ignoring how insanely and disgustingly classist that is, it doesn’t even make sense? A lot of wastelanders are farmers, who have to know what season it is in order to know when to sow, when to plant, and when to harvest. Most early civilizations would develop some sort of calendar shortly after agriculture as the necessary next step.
And then, from there, you could speculate about post-war harvest celebrations. How do wastelanders celebrate the end of the harvest season? What sort of rudimentary holidays do they celebrate? We know that Diamond City celebrates Christmas and Halloween, what other old-world holidays are celebrated? There’s so much speculative worldbuilding you could do but they insist on stopping at “akshually The Lore doesn’t say that they have calendars so I don’t think they do :)”

WHY WE MASK: IT'S NOT 'JUST A COLD' 2025 ED
My COVID-19 comic is BACK, babeee, because all these respiratory viruses sure didn't go anywhere! I took all your generous feedback from WHY WE MASK 2024 to make the free printable zine the best version of itself. Mainly, I edited all the dang text to be as simple and clear as possible! Which is harder than it sounds, but worth it to reach more readers. Also I did a million tiny visual fixes that no one will notice but me :P
Thank you to everyone who's read and shared the zine, and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone masking out there! It's never too late to start taking care of each other.
website version - featuring: clickable endnotes! working URLs!
free downloadable version - print & distribute your own copies! (donations to our print fund welcome but not required)
our patreon - help me & my partner @earnestattempts keep making comics like this one!
send us questions, comments, etc at [email protected] (we love seeing pics of the zine out in the wild)!
Extra pages under the cut, including sources for all the endnotes

if you're in Europe PLEASE consider signing the Stop Destroying Games initiative. the deadline is July 31st 2025. i've posted about it before; it aims to create legislation for publishers to stop killing the games you pay for and to provide an end-of-life plan for live-service products. thank you!!!

ocd is so weird bc its completely belittled and infantilized on the surface level (aka the stereotype- what people think ocd is like) but then the reality of it, the actual symptoms, are completely demonized once you get into them and people see you as evil just for having this mental illness in a non quirky way like they assumed its like. and then at the same time its not taken seriously at all and all the symptoms are handwaved as not that deep because how could you be so upset about something so dumb lol just dont do the compulsion its easy. why dont you hashtag let the intrusive thoughts win and shut the fuck up

I'm keeping an eye out for heat stroke in my area and I can't figure out what a full body flush would look like on dark skin since all the pictures are just fake training pictures. Anyone have video/pics of a heat stroke flush on black skin?
