listen i love silly apollo as much as the next guy. but i fear we are totally underutilising absolutely batshit creepy apollo. apollo who spits prophecies that don't make sense and sings in a voice too ethereal to hear right. you look at him and your eyes burn with the power of the sun and you can never remember what he looked like, only that he was more fire than man. apollo who can shoot a single arrow with intent to maim, not kill, because the shot to your knee was too precise to be accidental. apollo who is the brother of artemis, goddess of the wild, and acts like it

we know apollo feels awfully unloved by artemis rn despite how many benefits of doubt he tries to give her. and since we're in his pov we can see how she's been a very unsupportive and victim blamey sister

but what about the other side where apollo has been growing more and more emotionally distant and unavailable to well, everyone. but that means everyone. can you imagine how disconcerting and scary that must've been for her?? when she already experienced feelings of alienation from her family??? her other half twin steadily becoming a stranger????

because what apollo did was to subvert his own personality, to pretend to be the opposite of who he used to be. can you imagine that from the other side with no context?? from the one who loves and was the closest to him??? to suddenly have everything you (thought) you knew about him be rendered null and void?? how confusing how isolating how lonely???

it's amazing how many interests they share. artemis organizes safe houses for the demigod community and apollo didn't know at all. artemis made a magic healing water and apollo didn't know at all. let that sink in. it's not only that artemis didn't tell him but that he didn't notice. him. the pretty much all seeing all knowing one. didn't notice the celestial object related healing item. or the extra safety net for the young he's doing all of this for. how stressed how tired how out of it he must have been????

and if he didn't notice that who knows how many other things he didn't notice. who knows how many times artemis tried to reach out to him, to desperately reconnect with him, to not lose him and his psyche was so strained from this constant method acting, from this metaphysical torture, that he just couldn't notice. he legitimately did not have the energy available to focus on anyone outside himself. and I think that's what, more than anything, truly sold the act to her

Black Annabeth implications

To all the fans praising Annabeth's race swap, I can't wait for Leah to be depicted being physically abusive to Walker during certain Percabeth scenes 🥳���.

Heck, maybe Leah flipping Walker if we ever see HOO being adapted!

I mean Leah has already portrayed Annabeth as a creepy stalker so we're off to a great start. Also she has portrayed Annabeth as borderline emotionless.

So wonderful to see a black girl hurt her white boyfriend on screen! Oh happy day! Maybe people will realize how awful Annabeth is when they see a black girl doing it. Or who knows maybe they'll double down and see Annabeth as an empowered black girl when she hurts her boyfriend. Leah deserves better than this.

If the sexes were swapped and Female!Percy was scared of her boyfriend hitting, stabbing or maiming her all the time most sane people would realize this relationship is not healthy.

But because Annabeth is a girl with abandonment issues, all her actions should have no consequences according to her vile stans. As far as I am concerned, all Annabeth stans who believe this sentiment are abuse apologists and I would not want my kids around them or their kids.

When are people going to realize that the conversation doesn't end at acknowledging a character flaws but how they can improve? I guess Annabeth isn't good enough for character development. But honestly, compared to other demigods, Annabeth and the rest of her cabin are not all that special and extraordinary.

Many would say it isn't abuse unless there is physical abuse. I am pretty sure that has been shown many times. It isn't about sparring. It is afflicting pain for the sake of your emotions. Annabeth has done that due to her anger and jealousy. People like that make you second guess yourself and Annabeth has done that with Percy by letting him blame himself everytime even though it is not his fault like the kidnappings. Things were not under his control but Annabeth feels like she has to punish or hurt him. She wears him down even so far as making him uncomfortable in Tartarus. She insults his intelligence even though he is smart because she wants to be above him. Of course, she praises his loyalty and strength since it benefits her.

When I first opened Lost Hero, I thought I was going to hear something wonderful about Percy like the aftermath of the Gods' promise but all I got is that people were just calling him Annabeth's boyfriend! What happened to Savior of Olympus! Percy deserves better.
