The final round has begun.

Players 456 and 222 remain.

Gi-hun knows he has to give himself up in order for the baby to survive. That damn button; it’s green now, and the ticking countdown echoes across the chamber of the final game. He takes a couple of moments with her, just holding her tiny, swaddled body in his arms. These are his final moments. He teeters on the edge of the platform, looking up at the glass where he’s being watched like a caged animal.

‘Gi-hun.’

Someone is behind him. He turns; that voice has always made him turn.

The Front Man—no. Player 001. Young-il. He’s stood in the middle of the platform. He’s wearing the coloured tracksuit, still stained with blood splatter from before, his hair tousled and his cheeks flushed. The VIPs haven’t noticed that their host has bolted away to his private chambers, and shed himself of the black clothing and his disguise; he stands in front of Gi-hun now, maskless. He closes the gap between them, placing his hands on Gi-hun’s arms.

He tells Gi-hun that he was right. Have faith in people. They will do the right thing.

With his hands still on Gi-hun’s arms, Young-il turns Gi-hun around, giving him a small push towards the centre of the platform, and uses the momentum to propel himself backwards.

Gi-hun cries out, trying to reach back for Young-il but it’s too late. Player 001 hits the ground, just as the countdown hits 00:00.

Player 1 has been eliminated.

Players 456 and 222 are the winners.

In-ho didn’t think he was capable of love anymore.

Infiltrating the games under the guise of being Player 001 had been for amusement, for tactical purposes, to get close to Gi-hun and manipulate him.

He hadn’t expected his heart to come alive again, fluttering with new feelings as he watches the way Gi-hu moves and speaks with a quiet confidence, so unlike the large and foreboding figure that In-ho cuts in his black suit and mask. Opposites.

After seeing Gi-hun’s relieved face after they were separated in Mingle, In-ho knows it’s love. And he’ll do anything to have Gi-hun as his own.

With his obsession to find The Recruiter, Gi-hun neglects his need for sexual release. So when he’s on watch one night during the games and Young-il comes onto him, he melts in his hands. He’s groaning as soon as Young-il’s hand rests on the front of his pants. It’s exactly the outcome that Young-il wanted; complete control and dominance over Gi-hun.

He just hadn’t expected it to be so easy.
