I’ve been thinking about the possibility of KH focusing more on Final Fantasy. Since KH3 was so focused on Disney, after KH3, Kairi and RIku could go to certain crystals that could help them summon a particular popular FF monster.
And with Sora… Well…
Ever since KH3, I’ve associated Kairi with the Phoenix. I’ll draw Riku’s crystal later. And Sora’s later.

SoKai Week 2019 - Day 7: Reunion
(This is continuation of yesterday’s prompt, in case you’re confused by what’s going on in this fic.)
To say that the weeks Sora was gone were a nightmare would be an understatement. Having Kairi stay home and hold the fort down should’ve been been simple, but being a parent changed all that. In fact, if Amaya weren’t so little, Kairi would’ve gone with Sora, but one of them had to stay and Kairi refused to leave her daughter’s side, so it had to be her.
The first week wasn’t so bad. Sora was calling her every day to check in and everything seemed well. Then he started calling less and when he did call, he seemed very stressed and beaten up. It only worried Kairi more. This past week, the fourth week he was gone, Kairi didn’t hear from him once. As if that weren’t bad enough, Kairi had to rush Amaya to the emergency room due to airborne allergy to cumin and when she tried to call Sora, he didn’t pick up. She had begun to fear the worst had happened and nobody was telling her. Yet, at the same time, Kairi wanted to keep having faith and believing him.
This one particular night, Kairi was exhausted, but restless. For four weeks, she had been working her full time journalist job from home while taking care of Amaya at the same time. The lack of sleep, having to breastfeed every few hours, the extra diapers she had to change because Sora wasn’t here to help, the nights where Amaya would just cry because of colic, and the rest of the household chores that had to be done, it had all caught up to her.
Kairi sat in bed late that night staring out the window. It was storming that night, and she hated storms with how they brought back memories of when both Radiant Garden and Destiny Islands were lost to the darkness. A crash of thunder hit right outside their house, causing the 21-year-old to jump. She didn’t have time to be scared because she heard Amaya’s cries on the baby monitor.
Moving as fast as she physically could, Kairi walked into the nursery and picked Amaya up, holding her close to her chest. “What’s the matter, sweetie? Did the thunder scare you?” She cooed softly, patting Amaya on the back. Kairi paced back and forth, trying to calm down the baby. She did notice a strong stench, deciding that Amaya needed a change.
Amaya seemed to stop fussing at first while Kairi changed her, but towards the end, the fussing started up again. Kairi did the best she could to comfort her daughter, but nothing was working. To make matters worse, Sora was usually the one who changed her and it was routine for him to snuggle with her after changing her. It was almost like Amaya knew Sora was gone and she was missing him too.
“I miss him too…” Kairi softly whispered as tears built up in her eyes. She felt useless. All Amaya wanted was to cuddle with her daddy and he wasn’t there. “He’ll be home soon, I just know it.” She weakly smiled, trying to keep it positive.
Hoping it would help Amaya fall asleep, Kairi carried her into the bedroom and lay her down on Sora’s side. She also grabbed one of his hoodies from the closet and put it on. Amaya wasn’t the only one who needed Sora. Kairi needed him too. She needed to feel his presence in some way. She could only smile and act like everything is okay for so long.
Kairi climbed back into bed and cradled Amaya close to her. She hummed the same tune Sora would hum to her when he tried to rock her to sleep. It seemed to help and Amaya stopped crying and began drifting off to sleep. Kairi smiled and kissed her daughter’s forehead as she lay down and watched her. It didn’t matter how to tough things around the house got, she would still do what she had to do with a smile on her face, because she loved her family that much.
Several hours later, Sora quietly stepped into the house. He sighed heavily of exhaustion and took a look at the scratches and bruises he had acquired from his mission. Tsuki came running into the entry whimpering. Sora immediately began giving her affection, but shushed her considering how late it was. He carried his Keyblade and bag into the bedroom and stopped in the doorway.
The light from the hallway was enough for Sora to see his wife and daughter sound asleep. He smiled warmly at them and set his things down on the ground. He was so desperate to see them and missed them so much. Sora walked up to a snoozing Kairi and brushed a hand through her hair as he lightly kissed her cheek.
Feeling the warmth of his kiss, Kairi stirred in her sleep and cracked her eyes open to the blurred figure of Sora in front of her. “Sora?” She whispered as she sat up, rubbing her eyes and her vision focusing. Her heart started racing as he flashed a goofy grin at her and opened his arms up, ready for her to jump into them. “Sora!!!”
Kairi jumped out of bed and tightly embraced Sora, forgetting for a moment that Amaya was asleep. He hugged her back and just held her, not wanting to let her go. All that mattered to him was that he was home, and Kairi was there, in his arms, where he wanted her. Sora pulled his face back and nuzzled Kairi pulled him into a deep kiss that had been long overdue.
Sora cradled Kairi’s head as he kissed her back with as much love and passion that he had been holding up inside of him. They pulled away and gazed into each other’s eyes, as if they were afraid of being separated again. Sora cupped Kairi’s cheek and she just leaned into his touch, relieved that her beloved had returned safely, just as he promised.
“You’re back…” Kairi whispered with a smile.
Sora pecked Kairi on the lips while leaning his forehead against hers. “I’m home…” He looked past his wife and saw Amaya was now wide awake and trying to roll over. “Amaya!” He softly exclaimed as he moved closer to the bed and sat next to her. “Come on! You can do it!”
Kairi smiled widely as she stood behind Sora and watched their daughter successfully roll over. “She did it! She’s been trying to all week!”
Sora laughed as he picked up Amaya and hugged her close to him. “That’s my girl! I missed you so much!” He looked at the now smiling and babbling infant. “Did you miss my ‘funny face special’?” Sora asked before lowering his head and shooting it back up with a cheesy grin. “CHEEEEEEEESSSSEEEE!!”
Amaya squealed and laughed for the first time in weeks. Kairi laughed along with her. She hugged Sora from behind before he wrapped his arm around her, bringing the three of them together for a group hug. Both of them couldn’t be happier, being together again.
Sora put Amaya down in her crib a little while later and turned on the Paopu fruit mobile so she could fall asleep again. After kissing her goodnight, he walked back into the bedroom and removed his shirt, exposing all of his wounds that temporarily covered his tan toned body.
“Here, let me help you with those.” Kairi said as she began to dab the cuts with warm water and first aid cream.
Sora smiled and nodded. “Thanks, Kairi.”
“I should be thanking you. You do so much for us, risking your life for the worlds.”
“Maybe for other worlds, but you definitely do more for our family.” He softly said as he cradled Kairi’s hand in his. “I missed you both so much. Anytime I found myself in a weak spot, I thought of you, and how I had to keep fighting. You never stopped lighting my way through the darkness.”
Kairi softly giggled. “All I do is believe in you, because I know you can overcome anything if you put your heart to it.”
“You never stopped having faith in me either.”
“I never doubted you, and I still have no doubts that even in the deepest darkness, you’ll always pull through.” She said as she cupped Sora’s cheek with her hand.
Sora smiled widely, his heart feeling moved by Kairi’s loving words. He sighed as he felt the softness of her hand rub against one of his wounds. Her hand halted its movement when she felt Sora wrap an arm around her waist and pull her close to him. Instead, her arm extended and wrapped around his neck, wanting to be close to him too. Their eyes were barely open as they simply rested their foreheads against each other, taking in the quiet intimacy between them.
“Kairi, thank you…” Sora whispered as his hand ran idly up and down her back.
Kairi kissed his forehead as her hand stroked his fluffy spikes. “You must be tired.” She muttered, Sora nodding slowly. “Come on, you lazy bum.”
Sora softly chuckled at Kairi’s tease. Even if he wasn’t as lazy as he used to be when he was younger, he still had a fondness toward the nickname. Kairi was the only one who called him that, and it only cemented that his heart belonged to her. Even back when he didn’t know much about love, Sora knew deep down there was something special between them. He was her lazy bum.
Kairi turned off the nightlight and crawled into bed with Sora. He immediately wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to him, her head resting against his beating chest and her free hand locking with his. Kairi sighed and felt relaxed for the first time in a month. Even if she knew she would have to be up in a few hours to take care of Amaya again, she was just relieved to be able to cuddle with Sora again.
“You know, it’s moments like this that make me realize how lucky I am.” Kairi softly said as she looked down at their locked hands, her fingers intertwining with his.
Sora smiled softly as released his hand and dug into his pocket. “I don’t know about that.” He held out the lucky charm to Kairi, who took it from him and held it close to her melting heart. Sora gently tilted Kairi’s face up so he could gaze into her eyes. “I think I’m luckier…” He whispered.
Kairi set the lucky charm to the side before pulling Sora in another kiss. He sighed and kissed her back lovingly as he gently pushed her onto her back and furthered their passionate moment. As they consummated their love for each other that night, Sora and Kairi knew that whatever brought them together, it was going to keep them together for a lifetime, and nothing would truly separate them, because no matter how deep the darkness was, their light always showed them the way home.

My Top Fifteen Sokai Moments
I’m in the mood for sokai softness so I thought I would go ahead and list fifteen of my favorite sokai moments.
For the sake of being organized, I am choosing to leave out any intro scenes because these are, more or less, visual representations of in-game events and not necessarily canon compliant (alto the kh1 intro is implied to be Sora’s dream, and the kh2 intro is implied to be Roxas’ dream, but I digress). Manga panels and excerpts from the light novels will also be excluded. Only in-game moments will be included.
My top fifteen may be different from yours, but just know that I love sokai too much for mere words to describe. Both sides of it, Sora and Kairi, are equally important to me.
One warning though: This list contains moments from Kingdom Hearts III, so if you have not finished the game, don’t read it. Unless you want spoilers, in which case, be my guest.

Length: ~1000 words
For SoKai Week, Day 7 - Reunion/Home
————————————————
Kairi had done it.
Everyone told her she was crazy, that she should begin the healing process of moving on.
“He paid a high price for you,” the King had said, “it’ll only get worse if you go after him.”
But she didn’t care. She’d give up everything for him. Even if their entire lives were spent finding and rescuing each other, she’d pick the chance to see him for a moment over a lifetime of loneliness.
And she’d found him.
