Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions btw
So if you don't like the live action httyd I respect that
But I am just putting it out there now
Do not
And i repeat
Do not
Comment anything remotely negative or something like "I disagree"
Were all allowed to enjoy and not enjoy things
If you prefer the original movies, shows and shorts
Watch those
If you prefers the books
Read those
If you prefer the live action
Just watch the live action
Not everything needs to be a debate, argument, or think piece

To the people who are super excited about the live action httyd and are being super respectful to those who criticize it even if they don’t agree with it, you get a good night. I hope you all enjoy the movie! I hope it scratches the itch that you’re looking for and it ends up being your favorite movie!
To the people who are not excited for the movie and think it’s a soulless live action remake but are being respectful to the people who are excited and the actors involved, you get a good night. I hope you have an amazing rest of your day and if you fancy rewatch the movie, I hope it’s just as amazing as the first time you first watched it!
Can we normalize being respectful pls? If you don’t like something you don’t have to post hate. If someone brings up a valid criticism you don’t have to post hate. People are allowed to have different opinions and feelings about this movie, you can hate the cgi you can love the cgi, it doesn’t matter. Let’s all try to be respectful pls, having an opinion isn’t an attack on someone else’s.

Ok, the full how to train your dragon trailer made me fucking cry. It looks so fucking good holy shit. And the furious tears in Stoick's voice when he says "they've killed hundreds of us" and then the desperate rage in Hiccup's "and we've killed THOUSANDS of them!!!" Dudes. Yes. Fuck, this looks so good.

I have not been paying attention to any of the news about the HTTYD live action. So when I watch seeing Gerard Butler back as Stoick had me like:

I have just returned. I have seen the How to Train Your Dragon live action. As a long time fan since the original movie, I would like to give my thoughts…
Warning, contains minor spoilers
I LOVED IT! This is how you do a live action justice! 🤩
The first scene alone was beautiful! The music just as powerful as the original! Gerard back as Stoick was just as amazing as always! Mason and Nico were fantastic! Jay and America would be proud! We even got to explore more of the other Viking teens! And Toothless was still so expressive! We even got to see more species of dragons that weren’t in the original!
Of course I have some nitpicks, but the overall experience was amazing! Definitely going to see it multiple times!

Glad the live-action How to Train your Dragon is by Dreamworks. If it was by Disney, Hiccup would have decided his dad is right and chopped Toothless’ head off or something

How To Train Your Dragon Live Action PSA
Adaptation does not equal remake. The live action is not going to be word for word, scene for scene. It has taken inspiration from the animated version and made its own thing. Think of it as fanfiction. There are going to be differences, some small, some big. It's its own movie.
And yes, you can bitch and whine all you want to about it; just don't ruin it for those of us who are actually looking forward to seeing it, whether in theaters or at home. We don't care that it's a cash grab; we just want to see dragons again.
And I'm sure this goes without saying, but don't spoil it for those who don't see it right away. Not everyone can afford to see it the day, week, month it comes out. I don't care if we technically know what is going to happen, but there will be differences that don't need to be spoiled.
I really don't want to have to add HTTYD tags to my filter list because people can't behave on this site. This series means the world to me, and seeing nothing but hate for it is very upsetting.

God some of the shit you people are complaining about....
The movie could have been a legitimate portal that transported you to a real live Berk filled with actual dragons and y'all would still find some petty thing to bitch about. There are people whining that the Terror has protruding eyes. You know, like the animated version has. "Why did they make him look like a chameleon 😭😭😭😭" how else did you want them to capture the protruding eyes element of the original design? Would you rather they'd given him goldfish eyes? You'd complain about that too, no doubt.
Like jesus people. If you hate the remake then fine but in that case, maybe stop engaging with it??? Like why are you here? Just to bitch? Go and look at something you LIKE, maybe. If you're not having fun you can go home, etc etc

Fam. If you had any doubts about the HTTYD live action, throw them in the trash, because this is one of THE BEST adaptations I've ever seen!
And to all the haters who crapped on Nico Parker; eat fucking dirt, cause she was the best actor in the whole movie. I said what I said.

the httyd live action is BOMB idc what you all say. it was literally almost identical to the original and genuinely just so good. the only thing i did not enjoy was how they made astrid and ruffnut friends which kinda seemed ooc but other than that everything was great. and i’m saying this as a decade long httyd fan

"But Astrid was blonde!" And Hiccup was ginger. Snotlout was ginger. Fishlegs was brunette. Astrid wasn't even Astrid, and the twins didn't exist. Who gives a shit??

Just got back from seeing the live action HTTYD movie!! Now let me say that I had pretty high expectations for this movie as the original still remains my Favorite Film of All Time Ever and I was actually SHOCKED at how good it was. Disney take notes bc THAT is how you do a live action movie. It was so faithful to the original down to the actual shots, music and camera direction, I was actually in awe at how they essentially just copied the original film practically line for line. Ofc there were a couple changes here and there, some added dialogue and character interactions, but overall it was super close to the original. I had legitimate goosebumps during the test flight scene AGH they captured everything so well and as a diehard HTTYD fan since 2010 I’m so so happy with how well they captured the essence of the original 😭
Anyway if you’ve been debating over going to see it after being disappointed time and time again by Disney’s shitty live action remakes PLEASE give this one a shot. Dreamworks did it right and they should be praised for a fantastic job well done 👏

I’m a big believer that httyd did not need a live action, it works best as an animated movie. However!! I just saw the live action and I have to say it was really good! Very loyal to the original

genuinely so disappointed in httyd fandom at the moment.
it is totally valid to dislike the live action remake. it is also totally valid to enjoy it.
i watched a few nights ago, and had some gripes (the cutting of some iconic lines like 'talking fishbone' and 'we're vikings, it's an occupational hazard', the twins had little to no chemistry, and the complete absence of the 'not so fireproof on the inside' scene.)
but there were also some details i enjoyed (snotlout's short interactions with his dad, valka's fate being brought up multiple times to feed stoic's motivations, and personally to me the vfx weren't bad.)
people are always going to dislike things, and no piece of media will ever be 100% adored. the sentiment that people are tired of live action remakes is extremely completely valid!!
what is not valid is shaming other fans for enjoying the live action. i have seen so many posts where people are shouting calls of "if you enjoyed the live action, you're actively hating the originals!" "if you went to see the live action in theaters, you are a part of the group that's killing animation!"
which is just so.. childish?? there is no geniune reason that one person cannot like both movies. did i enjoy the live action? yeah. will the original 2010 continue to be my all-time favorite movie? absolutely.
hate it all you want, but don't berate others who didn't. you're calling people stupid and saying they're blinded by nostalgia for enjoying the movie? sounds to me like you're the one stuck in a child's tantrum.
