"a science kid, we might have been friends. i was the opposite. more of an english kid and less of a science one." violet laughed. though, really, no subject was her best one--she liked to blend in so she did just enough to get by in school.
"nothing wrong with rooting for the underdog." cassie laughs a bit, shaking her head. the blonde smirks, clearly amused by the other's response. "that was me for english. i was always more of a science and math kind of girl."

"i do appreciate that." charlotte said with a slight nod, "it's rather reassuring."
"i wasn't planning on laughing at you, so there's that." while he was cold and a bit closed off, he couldn't help but give the softest of smiles.

"i guess." thorn didn't love the idea of being called a tortured artist, but she didn't know anything else for right then. "if you want to lend an ear, or take a look at the lyrics i don't mind."
"see, tortured artist." gina would still count that as a win in their mind. "i'm not a really songwriter person. but i can try to help?"

"i know you wouldn't tease me or anything, but it just feels weird." riley admitted. she didn't know how else to explain it. it's not like riley was the most outgoing person to begin with. give her something she was actually confident in, then that was one thing. but something like flirting? she was definitely not confident.
"you're not a very convincing liar, riley," brooke pointed out, fixing her with a skeptical look. surely, riley could've at least attempted to make herself seem more believable prior to deciding to lie. "don't be ridiculous. i might not be the nicest girl out there, but i'm not that cruel. i'm here to help you as a friend."

carina knew what they did wasn't meant for everyone, but that it took a special kind of doctor to really focus in on their speciality. still she wished that people actually focused in on everything when they did rotations. "it's only natural to be frustrated when people don't do their jobs properly." carina nodded.
"it's not all bad just... sometimes frustrating is all." jo knew ob wasn't for everyone but they all had to do some of it, why not do it to the best of your ability and hope to learn something? "i know, i tell them that but sometimes it falls on deaf ears. we're getting through it though."

"sometimes they're serious. but a lot of times it's the usual things you'd expect with a pi." jessica was bored of the same old cases, but she knew they were what kept her in business. and better yet, she knew she shouldn't complain. what was she supposed to do, say sorry i don't want to take your lame case? she wasn't going to turn away money when she needed it.
Megara couldn't help but roll her eyes at the thought. "I don't think that person understands what you do very well," she sighed, shaking her head. She was curious, though. "Do you get a lot of serious cases here?"

"if anyone found that out and kept it a secret, i don't know how they could live with themselves." juliet didn't know how people would even consider doing something like that. but then again, she'd seen people be genuinely cruel, so it wouldn't surprise her. "so then, do you have other sports?"
"well, good. i'd have to kill you if you kept it from the rest of us." she chuckles, though they're not entirely sure she's joking. if someone kept that information secret, she'd certainly consider it for a bit. "i'm from somewhere very different from here. that game didn't even exist in erilea, most sports you know here don't."

"well, my problem is just that i forget to charge it, or that i lose my charger or well, shit happens," jessica shrugged her shoulders. she didn't really think it was all that important anyway. if someone needed to get in touch with her they knew she would get back to them when she could. if it was that important she would figure it out, right? "you good over there?" she asked, raising an eyebrow as she glanced back in the man's direction from her journal.
"That is lucky." He remarks back with a nod and casual smile. "I might as well be an old ass man the way I don't get technology half the time." Though her glare at the device made him chuckle quietly. "Oh, great, thanks. I actually got time to chill it for a second." He says before picking the cushiest armchair nearby and heavily sits down onto it. The chair creaking a little under him. An anxious dreading chuckle comes out of him as he rests his head back against the chair and says. "Common man, don't break on me here." The over a hundred extra pounds of metal coating over his every bone surely did make some things a challenge. Especially metal detectors.

"well, where would we be without nature, right?" she smiled, shrugging her shoulders. "i think it's always a good place to sit and think, or just explore. but i haven't really done a lot of that here lately."
"do not fret, camille. i take no offense to the question. it's a valid ask of someone who has lived far too long." there was a flash of a small smile that came on to his lips. "i do find nature to be beautiful and fascinating, even after all these years."

joyce nodded her head at the other's explanation. "well, that must be nice to have friends that can do something like that." she didn't know if she herself would ever be able to do something like that, but she liked learning a lot about that sort of thing.
sometimes, she forgot she had to remind herself that not everyone was as capable as someone like herself, or vincent or zach. there were people who were more normal, and they didn't have the exceptional talents that others did. brennan was learning that saying things like that out loud, however, was frowned upon. brennan furrowed her brows, head shaking slightly. "right, of course," she replied. "my friends are capable of creating those types of ... gadgets."

"well that seems unnecessary and also rude." juliet sighed. she hated the way people spoke sometimes, but she'd certainly seen the worst of the worst on some days at her job. it was just the things that she dealt with. "i suppose they don't."
"they sure do. often actually." but maybe that was just because megan was a stick in the mud in that she was all work and no play, was hard-headed and was quick to let people know she was feeling. "some people just don't mince words i guess."

"i guess in my line of work i think about that sort of thing a bit." cami shrugged in explanation. "helping out strangers and all."
"i guess not." but honestly, was the risk worth it to help a stranger? when it might completely bite you in the ass?

"i thought you weren't supposed to judge a book by it's cover." peyton teased, laughing. she didn't know if that was exactly true, because she certainly did even if she didn't admit it. she heard a whole bunch of books that she hadn't liked just because she'd seen the cover art. nodding her head with the words she spoke she smiled and hummed, "i totally get that. like how some songs just feel like i'm being welcomed home." she said.
" ooh , then i'll get you some options then. you can pick your favorite , even if you just like the cover , " gwyn's smile grew. while she didn't believe in judging a book by its cover , she had to admit it could be a factor to draw someone in. " we just have our little places , " she said with a nod. " like ... a safe space almost. a home away from home , in a weird way. " then again , this whole city was her new home away from home ; even if she didn't know how to get back. " i don't know where i'd be without the library myself ... " she chuckled. " oh , then do go on. i would never stop someone from talking about their passions. "

rory gave a soft smile and nodded her head, "i'm rory. thanks for saving me with the coffee order." she knew it was good to know, because it was hard to consider any coffee being better, or even on par, with luke's, but she had to try and branch out.
" really." perry's nose wrinkles at the memory of the disappointment that had settled after the fact, surmising she'd have to find somewhere else if she was craving something with caramel. not that she craved coffee often enough to be put out by it. " i'm perry, by the way."

peyton nodded her head, "you could say that again. i'm still adjusting myself." she shrugged her shoulders, letting out a small sigh. she didn't think about it a lot, but she did think about how much she missed home. "yeah, do you not have those where you're from?" she asked.
@saltedair peyton from here
astrid shrugged in response, "i just kind of wandered into this place. i'm still getting my bearings." it's been a few weeks since she's arrived really, but she was still discovering things every day. "so there's music on this thing?" she holds up one of the square record covers.

"is this a recent thing?" rory asked, leaning on her hand as she studied casey's reply. it felt very similar to her own reasoning. or at least part of her reasons for staying in school. "did something happen to make you more motivated?" rory was genuinely curious. "because for me, while i'm always a bit organized and everything, i also had an experience recently i need to just like fight back against. y'know?"
something they had in common. her determination to prove her parents wrong counted as spite in her opinion, so she could sympathize with rory's reasoning. she shook her head in response. "no, not at all," she answered honestly. "well, i can't say i've always been a go getter," casey admitted. "but that's been my attitude lately. i'm determined to get this degree and i'm not going to let anything or anyone stop me. this is the most motivated i've been for anything in my entire life."

violet nodded her head with a giggle, "right, wouldn't that be a funny show?" she didn't know if anyone would actually think of doing it, or how it would go on tv, but hell, she would watch it. she grinned. "we should totally do it."
tara burst into a fit of laughter. " identical monkeys , with the only difference is the type of hats they wear , " she suggested between laughing. " it'd definitely watch that. it'd probably be great to animate , too. "
