Bobbin sorting day wheeeeee
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In which I organize the scraps of old projects to make future keychains lol. I also found a better bobbin device (instead of my index cards/tape/hopes & dreams) in using bee nesting tubes so there has been a great rewinding.

And I will add, a huge fucking shout out to everyone that went to my ask box/messages to inform me about the terf post, I appreciate all of you so much!!!! Please never hesitate to call that shit out when you see it, I should have known better even in my sleep deprived-queue-setting state.
You were all so kind in how you let me know I had reblogged a post from a terf and I wanted to let you know I'm gonna be wayyyyyy more vigilant about that in the future. I want this to be a safe fiber space for all my trans brothers and sisters and everyone in between.

Sorry I haven't been posting as much!!! Between my new shopify admin work + new bag sewing + vigilantly scanning my drafts for any possible terf infractions (I reblogged a post from a terf when I was mindlessly trying to set up my queue and I felt absolutely *awful* that I missed on that, sorry ya'll) it's been kinda hectic!!
I'm hoping to get back to a regular posting schedule, I've got so many backlogged project pictures I need to show everyone!
I ended up making a bunch of these little keychains with leftover hardware from my mini perler bead days, I wondered if you guys think they are worth listing in the shop. I would price them as like a $2 add-on kinda thing. They are about 2 inches and wayyyyy to much fun to make, plus it's a really great way to use up leftover project yarn.

Black Welsh Mountain
Let's talk about the black sheep in the family - Welsh family, that is. BWM - for spinning, weaving, needle fabrication, and other uses [read - food].
Tumblr media
Photo by Llanover BWM listed as the oldest flock of BWM in Llanover UK @Court Farm.
Tumblr media
They are one of many Welsh breeds - but the only true black. And a magnificent black they are‼️
Tumblr media
That fuzzy staple is between 5 & 10 cm (2-4") and often attached to the word carpet - don't let that dissuade you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is a wooly wool. Spinning worsted does little or nothing to tame this phat fiber.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's because increasing popular in the past decade - spawning many blog posts and reviews and ideas - it's easy to find.
Outer wear, tweed flecking, and socks are what come to my mind with BWM. Tapestry weaving or textured needlework that needs a true black that never bleeds are also on my list for this yarn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wheel or drop is fine for spinning. The fiber can be short but it grabs its fellow strands readily when drafted.
And it felts well due its hook.
Tumblr media
🩷 It felts really, really well. 👍
It is also used for meat - it is a dual purpose breed, after all.
This is listed as an threatened breed by the Livestock Conservancy. Support the breed by supporting the farm.

knitting tutorial made by a twenty-something knitting influencer: 18 min long, 12 of those minutes being the intro and a sponsor plug, they show the first few steps of the tutorial at the slowest speed known to man, they show the most important steps at a neck-break speed, they stop every five seconds to talk about what they just did, 40,000 comments filled with questions ranging from insightful to “how do i knit”, filmed with a camera that costs more than a car, the tutorial is incorrect.
knitting tutorial made by a seventy-something grandmother: two min long, filmed 17 years ago, shows you what you want with the skilled patient hands of a beloved deity, made with the world’s shittiest camera, the best video on the fucking internet, four comments and 30 views, you lose the video and never find it again.

So now that I can sit and vibe with my new goodies, I figured I would list the vendors that I got everything from!
The support spindle is from the lovely Synder Spindles, I've already started spinning with it and the amount of spin I can get with it is fabulous!
The large bag of 5 braids of targhee/bamboo/silk is from The Foldout Cat and ooooooohhh my god it is the SOFTEST and most fun thing to spin (that's what I'm playing the new spindle with pffft)!!!
the two warmer tone braids at the top of the photo are from Jazzturtle Creations, very pretty and squishy, I cannot wait to free up some bobbins to make yarn out of it. The cooler tone braid is from Spin Up Girl (love that name) and is a merino silk that I *really* need to clear up more bobbins for. Lots of spinning in my future.
The two skeins of yarn are from one of my new favorite yarn companies, Fiber Seed, these are their Sprout Sock variety and ohhhhhhh the colors I wish I could have grabbed as well!!!!! So many stunning colorways. So many.
My haul from Carolina Fiber Fest! My first time going, and it was,,,, interesting to say the least. The parking was a solid Nightmare due to the super large dog show happening next door??? I think there were approximately 300 RVs and campers near this event lol. I'm thankful there was a security dude who helped me "cheat" a parking spot with traffic cones so I could actually unload my wheelchair, otherwise I would have had a hell of a time getting in.

“Tangerine Waves”
I love color, I love how using slightly more of one color, a different shade/hue can create an entirely different feel and look.
Materials include: wools, recycled cotton, silk, and velvet. Woven on a cotton wrapped metal frame, includes hand-dyed and hand-spin yarns, beading is all stitched by hand.
